Looks rather bare-bones and not much different from it's early alpha stage, so far. But hey, it's a friggin successor to the Advance Wars franchise, and if the price is around $40 or less I'll definitely buy it on day one. Gotta support these little gems, after all.
Necro I know, but does anyone have ideas to make the missile launcher more useful aside from another range increase? I have two ideas: give them the battleship treatment (nerf their damage in exchange for getting the ability to attack after moving) and/or change their move type to treads so that they can be positioned faster.
Combine it with the Flare tank from Days of Ruin. Maybe give it a light machine gun in the same manner for direct attacks.

That's certainly an option (combining the missile with the Flare tank). That would probably make the missile launcher a direct attacker instead of an indirect (giving them a machine gun), then again the Anti-Tank is at present the only indirect in the series that can counterattack.

Bumping because a remaster/remake of Advance Wars 1 and 2 has been announced at E3, so fans can at the very least rest easy this franchise is not quite dead yet.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."I'm really hoping this spurs the idea of a whole new game, give it some light. Hell, maybe even make it feasible to have Andy as a future Super Smash Bros character.
Yeah I hope people buy this game so we can get a legit new entry. Maybe even a new Battalion Wars.
I've never actually played an Advance Wars game because by the time I was old enough to be interested in a turn-based strategy/war game the franchise was a bit dead in the water. But I do find it interesting from what I know about it, so I might check these out.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Most of my experience was through the Wii U's Virtual Console. So I'm more or less in the same boat.
But I'm totally pre-ordering this game.
I wonder if this is successful if they'd remake/port the two Battalion Wars games as well.
I've spent a ridiculous amount of time playing Advance Wars 2, so I'll be buying this almost certainly.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobI guess the DS version won't get remade because you can't really remake a DS game.

At best, you'd have to build it from scratch to make up for the fact that there is no second screen. (But then, Re-Boot Camp's trailer boasted being built from the ground up, so it's not impossible?)
Or they could simply make an entirely new entry. Yes please.
They might be testing the waters a bit. If this sells, they could make a new one.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."I was half expecting them to call it Switch Wars. XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.YESSSSSSSSSSS
Now for my even more convoluted wish of hoping Days of Ruin gets a remake
(even if it's just for the music getting a remaster please >>)
If there was an Advance Wars on the 3DS I would have called its sub title "The Third Division". But seeing as how Fire Emblem hogged the spotlight...
I was under the impression that Advance Wars went dormant because Days of Ruin kinda bombed. Hence why there was never a Wii or 3DS entry, rather than anything to do with FE (technically not Wii U either, but it got rereleased on Virtual Console). Perhaps that's one reason they decided to go back to the GBA entries which are decidedly Denser and Wackier.
In any case I'm kinda fed up with FE myself, so that's more of a reason to but this remake and rub it in that series' face.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Don't mean to point fingers, but Awakening would have been the Swan Song for Fire Emblem had it not been successful, so the same could have been said for Advance Wars if that franchise were selected instead (were there any Fire Emblem games on DS?).
Somewhere there is a parallel dimension where Advance Wars' COs would be hogging many spots on the Super Smash Bros character list, while only today would Fire Emblem have made a resurgence.

There were the DS remakes of Shadow Dragon and the Japan-only Mystery of the Emblem, but no new titles.
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805Don't nerf Colin. A new generation needs to feel the power of money.
What was so cool about Colin?
The Protomen enhanced my life.I think I'd lose my mind if it were a new game but a remake is a start. It's going to be weird to see the characters in their original costumes though.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984The ability to destroy neotanks with infantry if you had enough money while using his super.
So many things to buy...
Now in addition to Civ VI and Sonic Mania, I want that too. I sorely miss Advance Wars' flavor of TBS.
Don't stop, just proceed, 'cause this is what you need-proceed, just proceed, 'cause this is what you need!
