I am NEVER going to play the games, the jumpscares would be too much for me. However, I did bring my mom to the movie on Halloween (she wasn't fond of the whole "children murdered as backstory" thing though).

New book, an interactive novel called 'the week before' is coming.

If it's, like, the week before Mike Schmidt's week in the first game, this one might be about Phone Guy.

Unless of course Phone Guy died way before Mike Schmidt's shifts and Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria just reused his messages for years afterward.

The third game pretty much removed the Night 1 Phone person so you could listen to Phone Guy.

I wish we could see a bit more of Phone Guy in this modern Fnaf environment. In hindsight, he was just a regular guy who got caught up in the insanity and with all the "everyone is an Afton/Emily/whatever" twists having him just being a normal guy feels refreshing

I'd love for the next game to have a big twist that the protagonist really is just Some Dude and has absolutely no connection to anything and zero idea what's going on.

He could be like Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2, where the regular main characters have their overarching plot going on in the background while he's just trying to stay alive in this bizarre madness.

One of this days I really should get the games, I only watch the lore videos and I wanna play the game

My older brother is a survival horror nut and he recently started playing them. He really enjoyed them.

But... Raiden is connected to the madness. He just tried to VR himself into forgetting that he was. (Well, the parts he knew about. A lot he only learns during the game)

I know, but I was mainly focused on the "actual main characters do the main plot offscreen" part there. The "unconnected" and "like Raiden" ideas weren't directly linked in that fashion.

I like how I saw people were already joking that, thanks to his extreme cases of Cut Lex Luthor a Check, William is the child killing equivalent of that one 'I don't want to cure cancer, I want to turn people into dinosaurs!'comic meme.

And then Tales revealed that Remnant can, in fact, cure cancer. Solidifying that comparison as wholly accurate.

I know his theories are kind of silly, but I honestly prefer Mat Pat and similar theories where Afton is doing the Mad Scientist Serial Killer method to figure out immortality because the Crying Child getting chomped was his Start of Darkness. You know, him having an actual reason for being all this elaborate rather than just really enjoying killing kids. That was a fine explanation back when he was just the Purple Guy but now there's so much Complexity Addiction to what he does that I'm Disappointed by the Motive

I think the issue is mostly the series was in a way genre shift after 3, like in the first three games its a fairly standar haunted ghost story with the twist the ghost are inocent....ish. but since 3 or rather 4 it move into this strange pseudo ghost tech so anton move to "seria killer" to what it..a sort of tecno-necromancer.

That’ll happen when you start up a franchise without having a mostly concrete, ironclad idea of what the in-universe history and lore is (and make it abundantly clear what exactly happened, who was involved, and why things went the way they did; mind you, it doesn’t have to be spelled out, so much as there should be some almost completely irrefutable evidence that heavily implies what the actual answer is).

In total fairness though, nobody could have expected the utter runaway success that FNAF became and how it changed the indie horror game genre completely, least of all Scott himself.

Specially as he release game it such short time fraime, like there was this Joke of scott being in speedforce because he always release games before time.

I feel the franshise is very much "So this is how I ended....but now I have this idea and maybe...."

There was an interesting leak for a book called 'the Talbert files'. It was from years ago, and shows some of Scott's plans before he settled on Pizza Sim. Its not canon anymore, but its interesting as a bit of trivia for what we might have gotten.

There are a lot of interesting tidbits.

2 of the most notable ones are that Cassidy was supposed to be the spirit in the puppet, not Charlie. Her father would have been an animatronic creator named Emmet Tucker.

And the other...the puppet would have been William's creation.

More specifically, it would have been a twisted replication of his son from FNAF 4(This would probably explain things like the stripes and tears making BV look kind of like the puppet. And the 'my grandfather's clock' thing).

In this version of things, he wanted to recreate his sons powers. The ability to influence reality, to 'give the gift of life'. He decided to 'repurpose' Cassidy for it.

This is very different from what we got, but its interesting.
