I'm not worried about harem shit. And my guess is she likes girls, since she called Jamie cute. Maybe Jamie gets the harem :) Honestly, I'm sorta worried Namie won't survive 3 episodes. Which would be kinda sad, I like her better than boring mc-boy.

There will be no harem, for only Arge can really connect with Tokimune.

I think she's just as boring as Tokimune though. In any case, a meat shield is a meat shield.

The 8th has had a ridiculously low mortality rate so far, and a good success ratio. To ordinary troops, that'd make them look like aces. The brass, of course, just wonders why their Uriah Gambit hasn't worked yet.

True, but luck is only one part of the equation. Samonji seems to be mindfully making sure that most of his guys get out of the grinder alive for the next sortie.

Even genius tactician/strategist types lose some soldiers in battle eventually. So given the genre, I'm expecting a total tearjerker episode where one of the minor characters does die unexpectedly.

So this episode was awesome.

I am so ready for Argevollen and Sturm Alpha to throw down hard.

I suspect the non-Krieger troops probably die in droves. We just don't see them, as Unit 8 only seems to have mechs. I'm also expecting Namie to bite it at some point(next episode I bet). Kinda a pity as she adds some energy to the cast.

I liked the reveal that the weapons companies are just making the war go on so they can sell weapons to both sides.

Holy shit the machines' manufacturer is playing both sides and the models themselves might (or will) kill the pilots!

Not exactly a berserker mode, but boy that was sure ugly. Didn't help how Tokimune was screaming the whole time against Richthofen.

I also was amused that his adjutant made no secret that she was just using him to get revenge on the Argevollen.

That...I felt the same horror that I felt during parts of Neon Genesis Evangelion. At least he's with people that knew what happened last time^note  Although I suspect they were worried from the start; the technology looked too familiar. Finding out he was Reika's brother sealed it, I guess — and they're not going to let that happen again.

Oh shit. That was ugly, so ugly.

Glad I wasn't the only one thinking "Tokimune fails to start Second Impact" during that sequence.

Can't decide what I want for the Baron. On one hand, him surviving feels kinda cheap....OTOH, he's the only decent antagonist.

Honestly I don't see how that explosion would have killed him. Though his death would make a pretty big dent in the corporate overlord's schemes and that would be interesting to see.

He's alive, and suffering from NR Syndrome. Jamie finds out the Truth — including what the name means — and has even more Ship Tease with Tokimune, who discovers what happened last episode, and why he was banned from piloting Argevollen. He agrees, by the end. Of course, it isn't that easy...

Jamie was a bit too dumb this episode, you don't have to be an engineer to understand that manual, it couldn't be clearer if it tried. Especially considering what was in that database.

And we have quite possibly the first Pyrrhic victory for the 8th Mobile squad. Tokimune's not looking good there at the end of ep 17.

You're forgetting about the hometown loss 5 episodes back.

That was actually a Pyrrhic loss. Although they failed to secure the town, everyone (civilians included) got out safely.

Considering that was Okui's first ever stint at command with no superiors to draw upon, or relevant leadership training/experience, that was damn impressive.

Epsiode 18 is out. Definitely a good news, bad news breather episode.
