This might be a weird idea that never goes anywhere, but, you never know. So here it goes.

The idea behind this RP is simple. The players sign up as characters from different types of media just as they would in your general crossover R Ps. But the biggest difference between this RP and those other ones is what we're going to do with these characters. See, usually they'd be put through challenges/missions/battles to stop some large multiversal threat. But here? Here we shall put them through Alternate Universes.

That's the idea. We- that's right, we, as in me and you guys- come up with AU ideas. Things like 'Battle of the Bands AU', 'Wild West AU', 'Fantasy World AU', 'Pirates AU', 'Power Switch AU', 'Mafia AU', maybe even the old classics like the 'High School AU'. And all of this with the added flair of a good old crossover.

I'm not sure if this RP will have an overarching plot, or even it should have. The reason I'm doing this is because coming up with A Us is fun, but coming up with A Us for a group of characters from different worlds, mish and mashing them in weird ways to create entirely new verses is really fun, and I think you guys would enjoy it.

So what do you think? Comments, suggestions, criticisms?

If you want you can take it one step further and have the pcs all play AU versions of the characters. Rather then the usual guys you get people like moe pyramid head or gender-bent Dante.

How do you kill that which has no life?

I'm certainly open for that idea, but since the whole concept of the RP is to have a bunch of characters melded together with an AU thrown in, perhaps we might be benefitted by having the canon versions of characters, as they are already established and are much easier to mold and reform to fit whatever we want to do.

So let me see if I get it: our characters will travel to Alternate Universes where they will find their counterparts? Or become them? Also, is this for existing characters, original ones, or both?

In any case, I might be interested.

[up][up] Become them, and existing characters (although original characters are allowed if they're, like, custom protagonists a la the Elder Scrolls games).

We could go for an anthology type thing, with each arc a self-contained story with no relation to each other than the P Cs that we use. Kinda like the Legend Of Zelda series, or more similarly Final Fantasy.

I have a few ideas for A Us.......

Will combat skills be as necessary here as other R Ps?

Just a thought, (if we want to have an over-arcing plot that's not too intrusive or melodramatic), our characters could just get lost in the multiverse for some nebulously explained reason, and somehow start randomly jumping around in an attempt to get back home. So if we wanted to have character interaction outside of the AU sequences (from which it seems we'd have our guys memory-wiped), that could be a way of doing that.

This sounded better in my head, I swear...

[up][up] It depends on what AU we're focusing on, but I'd say that this RP doesn't require as much combat ability.

[up] That could be an idea, although any development would stay contained to these between-A Us segments.

I suggest a "reality mystery" where the characters find themselves unexplainably shifted from world to world, temporarily having to adjust while they figure the cause. Those of you familiar with Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi will have an idea of what I mean (great show btw.)

I love this idea, but I might not be able to join it at the moment. I'll keep it in mind when my plate's a little less full. Is the RP starting as soon as possible or is it still in the brainstorming stages?

[up] Still in brainstorming stages.

[up][up] I think there might be a problem, in that if they keep their memories in each AU, they'll want to try and move on as fast as possible, which may not provide as many interactions as it would have if they just became their AU selves.

Oh, ok.

I also think the AU world jumping idea would work smoother if the characters were all memory wiped at the end of each one. That way, we can start fresh each time and the characters have a chance to interact with different people without prior bias.

@ Sijo: I vaguely remember a TV show I used to watch when I was young with a vaguely similar premise, where a bunch of kids kept randomly turning into cartoon animals and going on adventures in various worlds, or something. No idea what it's called or anything... but inspiration, maybe?

Interest. Also, maybe instead of either letting people keep their memories or having a full reset every time, have them remember one thing from each AU once it ends? Like, they might believe that the thing they remembered was just a dream, but that way, it can still have an effect on them.

Anyway here's Blackwall

Maybe they just remember the AU setting they were in but none of the details like characters development or what role they played and the like?

Depending on the speed of my new RP, I could possibly see myself trying this out. Possibly.

Either way, interesting.
