I'm not inclined toward either of the suggestions, but at the same time the current's crude art (and yes, I know it's SP and that's to be expected) bugs me. If the consensus is to keep the current, that's fine.
I like both the suggestions better than the current because they show other characters reacting to the disguises. I think I like the first one more, but the quality is low; given those three choices only, I like 1.2.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Better quality version of 1.1:
Not particularly supportive of either suggestions or current.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat's an improvement on the original version...starting to come around to it, but the grittiness of the text is a problem.
Not much I can do about that, it was written in 1931 after all. That said, maybe somebody with better image editing skills than me can clean it up a bit.
I'm definitely in favor of the Tintin pic rather than the current. It's a classic.
I loved the original, but since the consensus seems to be that it's offensive, I'm in favor of the higher-quality alternative suggestion.
Definitely prefer the suggestions because nothing in the current image states that the characters are actually in disguise (as opposed to a racist depiction of foreigners).
Clocking due to inactivity.
The current is just... bleh... to me. I love the Tintin suggestions, and 4 is the best of them. A few more votes and we can run with it.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.4 is a pretty kickass image. It has my vote.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.Seems like we have agreement. It's up, potholed and tagged. Caption or no?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBeen a coupla days with no discussion, so let's go ahead and lock up.
The current image illustrates the trope just fine, but is kind of offensive. Yes, I know, South Park, but I think we should try not to be if at all possible. With that in mind:
Or alternatively, from the TV show:
