(sigh)God damn it Simpsons God damn it Simpsons.I know the show hasn't been as popular as it has been in a while, but to go the same way as Family Guy has in terms of a ratings trap is an awful idea.

Crap, just noticed the title is misspelled.

[up] I think the understanding was that the character to be killed off is Krusty's father.

Just a person. He/him.

I don't think so,The article states its a"major character – who regularly teamed up with Bart". Sounds a lot like Krusty.

[up][up]They've killed characters in the past and they're still dead.

Maybe they're trying to get themselves cancelled on purpose.

[up][up][up]

Yeah. You need to watch more Simpsons.

This isn't a Seth Mc Farlane cartoon. Simpsons is pretty good about keeping characters dead. Until you get to Treehouse Of Horror, but those take Refuge in Audacity from the onset.

[up][up][up][up] Family Guy has also been pretty decent in keeping its dead characters dead; I haven't seen Francis Griffin or Diane Simmons recently...

Regarding Dr. Marvin Monroe: they never outright showed him to be dead, they just up-and-declared him dead offscreen, if I remember correctly...

Clowns as mass beloved children idols are pretty much a thing of the past by now, aren't they? I mean, even Ronald Mc Donald is kinda being pushed back and replaced by Living Happy Meals and the like. So I can understand the reasoning of bumping Krusty off, although it might well be only the Krusty identity 'dies' but a down on his luck or happily retired rich Krustowski is still kept around.

[up] It was pretty much a thing of the past when Krusty was first a character.

The kind of show Krusty is the host of pretty much died out in the late 60s.

The article states its a"major character – who regularly teamed up with Bart".

I have read many, MANY articles about the upcoming death and this is the only one that said that it was a character to team up with Bart, so I call BS. That article is poorly researched and made of fail. Al Jean himself even said that the dead character was a great character but not an iconic one (source). Krusty is definitely iconic. Then again, their announcement of James Garner's death referred to him as a star of The Notebook, instead of one of his more iconic roles, so I really shouldn't expect much from that site. I'm only 30 and I facepalmed at that.

I think the understanding was that the character to be killed off is

That was my first guess since he fits the criteria: his voice actor won an Emmy for the role, the character appeared more than twice, and he isn't an iconic character. However, I'm second-guessing myself, since Matt Selman recently tweeted the following: [1]

Family Guy has also been pretty decent in keeping its dead characters dead; I haven't seen Francis Griffin or Diane Simmons recently...

Ditto American Dad. None of the ninety-something minor characters killed in the bus crash in the hundredth episode have made so much as an accidental cameo. People really need to do their homework before disparaging Seth's shows.

EDIT:

but to go the same way as Family Guy has in terms of a ratings trap is an awful idea.

This has nothing to do with Family Guy. It's been in the works for awhile (and no, FG didn't "steal" the idea to kill a character and anybody who even thinks of saying that deserves a virtual facepunch). Neither show knew about the other's plans.

[up][up] Family Guy's was a ratings trap. I don't know if this will be. It is likely that Matt and Seth knew (aren't they friends?) about each others plans.

You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!

[up]I wouldn't be surprised, both shows are past there prime and they need something to boost there ratings.Killing a major character is one way to get a lot of attn.(just look at what happened back when "Life of Brian" happened).

If they kill Krusty the Clown I will be sad. I really enjoyed episodes staring the Character from Season 6-19. Heck, in the later seasons he usually stood out as being funny (Like the Episode where Sideshow Bob was in Italy). I haven't seen a New Simpson's Episode since "Mypods and Boomsticks", but Krusty is too important to be killed off.

I guess I'll have to watch and see if they really do kill him off, or if they throw us a Curve ball...
