So was Kaneki projecting his impression of Hide's reason for feeding him to Kaneki onto his purpose in life? Because it seems like Kaneki wanted to die in style holding backa superior enemy because Hide died in style feeding Kaneki so he could hold off a superior enemy.

You were right haro, Furuta's face was beautiful.

I think Kaneki was that way all along. But damn, the Hide/Kaneki bromance is strong in this one. I find it a little weird that Kaneki carried out a full conversation with Hide in his head, although I guess he's also done that with Rize before.

How did Eto get out? I suppose it's plausible that even Cochlea's cells can't hold her if she doesn't want them to. Good luck, Furuta.

I can't really tell what the Owl quinque does. One flaw with Ishida's art is that his fight scenes tend to be confusing. It seems to be able to fire projectiles, reform itself, and...some kind of remote-triggered effect? Arima did something similar back when he first fought Kaneki, although I presume that was using a different quinque (Ixa)?

Eto Deus ex Machina was the best thing ever, I am so delighted.

And Ayato being like "Screw this noise, WE OUT." O_O He knows better to stand around asking questions, just run.

Hide is the best bro, even when he's just a figment of Kaneki's fractured mind. I really wonder how long Ishida will tease us before finally confirming one way or another what became of Hide.

Eto is always cute in a yandere kind of way.

(A detail that worries me slightly is that the RC suppressant gas is still being released from the top down. That may be one of the few somewhat plausible ways left that Eto might be killed, depending on whether she's crazy powerful enough to be only partially affected by it. Although if that snivelling snot Furuta gets taken out first, it's all good.)

After reading the chapter i felt Furuta screwed himself over since he fed Eto just to be a dick. Naturally it backfired.

Ya know i'm glad the manga is selling pretty good here in the states.

I think we all knew Eto was going to take some special revenge on him for that. The question was whether he'd manage to weasel out of it somehow, but he looks pretty screwed right now. May his death be suitably miserable.

Considering the type of person Furuta is I can't help but feel sorry for him as his death is likely going to be really nasty....

...Not that he didn't have it coming.

Well, nuts. Looks like Furuta might have a fighting chance after all. Goddammit. (In hindsight, we should have seen this coming from the fact that he's up and about so soon after taking that hit from Hinami.) Hopefully Eto still tears him a new one.

And that answers the question of whether V has been making half-ghouls as part of their Tyke Bomb program. I wonder if Fruitcake is a half-ghoul by birth, or if he underwent the Kanou/QS surgery at some point. (I suppose the latter is less likely unless the surgery was recent, since it looks like the first major transplant success was Kaneki. Although V could have been ahead of the curve...)

Also, it seems to increase the probability that Arima might also be a half-ghoul after all, one way or another.

Kaneki seems pretty lucid now. It'll be interesting to see what he does next.

And yeah, I'm curious as to if Furuta's synthetic or not. My guess is on no, since we know that he's a designer baby. Crossing a ghoul-killer lineage with a strong ghoul lineage seems like exactly the kind of thing that a designer baby daycare would do.

No wonder Arima's so tough. Especially if he comes from that 1% lineage of humans who are strong enough to handle Ghouls with natural physical strength alone.

Now this is likely crazy, but what if Arima is the product of the supposed impossibility of a female ghoul having the child of a man?

Just realized Furuta was doing see/hear/speak no evil poses. Nice to see Kaneki lose the hold Eto had over him with the kagune mouths vanishing.

Kaneki's kagune now looks like a typical RPG thief outfit. Plus a shortsword. o.O

Eto's kakuja is getting crappier every appearance.

Sign of how psychotic she is. We saw how Kaneki clearing up his own mind dissolves the mouths on his.

No, he means that it's gone from being something that's essentially unstoppable to being something that can be casually ripped apart.

At least we'll get to see Eto fight without it.

Yeah Iread that as creepier earlier, but it's not really surprising when you think about it since everyone who beats her is stronger than her.

Kaneki's kakuja/kagune(?) is kinda interesting though. Looks like some combination of a demon and knight which is strangely fitting.

Yeah, her Kakuja really does seem to be falling for Lowered Monster Difficulty. I kind of hope that she doesn't just get offed by Furuta, because he's kind of had a terrible habit of offing awesome ladies in the series to establish himself as a threat. :/

I don't want to see Eto simply become another stepping stone used to prove how awesome Furuta is, when she's such a fantastic character in her own right.

I honestly want Furuta and Torso to die at this point. They both have become even more detestable characters....

And that's saying something for Tokyo Ghoul. There is very few characters that I dislike that much...
