Kind of feel like it's a bit unneeded though. Like surely mundane grenades would be about as effective.

It probably damages the RC cells better when they explode right into the Kagune.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

But given that it still wasn't enough to actually, y'know, kill the guy, it can't be that much better.

Like. The ghouls in this series have survived a lot of crazy stuff, but 'take a grenade to the face and not even flinch' is a fair bit beyond what we've seen. The concussive force alone should be enough to accomplish everything we saw the RC grenades here do.

They just wanted to really make sure there dead.

Sure its overkill but its Ghouls, ya kinda want it to be overkill especially when dealing with a Kakuja.

That's what I'm saying though. If that was the purpose of these things, they were an abject failure, because of how alive he still is. There was no visible benefit to using them over mundane grenades, and nor do they have any particular reason to think that regular grenades wouldn't work, which leads me to question why they bothered to spend the time and money to develop these things.

Well these are the same people who gave Juzo a big-ass scythe.

The CCG clearly overcompensates.

New chapter is out. I'm beginning to suspect GOAT gets slaughtered to a man except for the group with Kaneki.

[up] That is seeming likely, but god that would be depressing.

I'd probably add Ayato's group as potentially surviving as well.

I wonder how long it will take before the newly taken back CCG arrives.

Cause it be entertaining as Hell if Mutsuski, Aura & the Oggai find out Furuta has been ousted from leadership & that the guys in charge now will not stand for their blatant insanity or violation of Ghoul rights cause I have a feeling the CCG might be become less harsh of Ghouls now.

Boy is that gonna be fun. tongue

Well, fuck. New chapter out.

Mutsuki is delusional, and believes the power of her yandere feelings towards Kaneki will let her surpass the power and experience of Yomo. Hirako and Squad 0 continue to fight Hajime and Ui (who does NOT look very stable right now) and his mooks. Touka and the others make their way to E14 (oh hell no) only for Touka to get intercepted by a (single) Scorpion 1/56 to the shoulder (this won't end well). Oh, and the narration repeatedly states that Kaneki and co do NOT know that 24th Ward is under siege.

Juuzou's also picked up on what's been going on in the CCG, so maybe Touka's situation isn't all that hopeless. Though a knife to the shoulder is a funny way to say hello, if he's just there to negotiate...

Latest Tokyo Ghoul chapter is out and things continues to look bleak for the Ghouls:

Issue opens with a scene of Juuzou visiting Shinohara's hospital room. He notices that someone has left flowers on the table next to his bed.

The scene then immediately jumps back forward to the CCG's raid of GOAT's base. It turns out Juuzou was the one who threw the knife at Touka at the end of the previous chapter. Furuta arrives on the scene, no worse for wear, because he wants to see the extermination of the Ghoul's in person. The narration text reveals that Juuzou's S3 squad has effectively become the "new O Squad" and he has personally become the new Symbolic Poster Child for the CCG the way Arima previously was. The narration also makes not that this Squad, which is 53 men strong, has Undying Loyalty towards him. The CCG soldiers starts to swarm the Ghouls as they try to flee.

The scene cuts away to Kaneki's expedition. Tsukiyama notices that he is debating internally to himself and wants to know what's on his mind. Kaneki believes he's made the right choice not to stage a rescue for Yoriko since it's obviously a trap but now he's wondering if Mutsuki intentionally leaked this information to lure them into a false sense of security that the CCG wasn't planning to do anything prior to the execution date. Tsukiyama then questions if Kaneki feels they should head back, but Kaneki insists that they keep moving forward since the Ghouls are on the brink of starvation.

Back to GOA Ts headquarters, the White Suits have almost all been slaughtered by the Oggai. Naki decides to hold the line on his own to allow the others escape. In his final thoughts he reflects on how he actually isn't scared of dying since this means that he'll get to see his "Big Bro" Yamori again on the other side. The final shot is him getting killed by the Oggai off-screen as he reflects on wanting to make Jason proud.

Surprise chapter is surprise!

  • Yomo falls to the ground, wounded and notably slowing down from Mutsuki's knives.
  • ......JUST KIDDING. When Mutsuki steps towards him to finish him off, Yomo sets off his trap and electrocutes Mutsuki until we have deep-fried yandere.
  • Aura rushes in screaming and raging. Yomo has none of that, catching him by the neck and casually snapping it.
  • Furuta is all LO Ls as he watches the carnage.
  • Hinami wrecks the investigators attacking them, single-handedly holding them off with her dual kagune.
  • Juuzou engages her, while Hanbee goes for Touka.
  • Cliffhanger is Juuzou slicing into Hinami's side.

I feel like having another Hinami-death scare now is a bit oddly placed...we just had the rescue arc some time ago, and she hasn't been deathflagged enough at the moment to be killed off. Let's hope I didn't jinx it with that statement...

But dang, Yomo, that neck snap was stone cold. I didn't expect Aura to go out this way. Though it also seems a bit too abrupt...is this a lead-up to him "framing out" as well?

Time to suffer once again~

Chapter is out.

  • Hinami-centric chapter.
  • Yomo stumbles through the wrecked base, and encounters a figure that advises him "as your friend" that he'll die if he keeps going. Yomo says that's the point. (Uta wtf kind of mask is that?).
  • Hinami is badly wounded, but keeps trying to hold off Juuzou and his squad. She tells Touka to take the children and run, which she does after hesitating a moment.
  • Hinami thinks back to her mother's death, and blames herself for how Kaneki started to slowly change. She thinks about how she wanted to be "beautiful and strong" like Touka, and always felt like a burden. She tears through most of the mook investigators, but Hanbee and Juuzou manage to take her down.
  • Juuzou asks if she's still going to stand, and she tries to get up to keep fighting. She wonders if she was able to become beautiful and strong, instead of just being useless to everyone.
  • Juuzou goes for the killing blow, when the roof collapses from a massive kagune. Everyone is shocked, and Furuta starts grinning.
  • The shot of the Scavenge team is shown again, this time with Kaneki missing.
  • Note on narration: Theory is that Furuta has actually been narrating everything, to basically misled the audience.
