The Discussion is open, so keep questions mostly over there. I'll properly start the RP when at least two more applications are written up.

• Race: 100% Normal Human
• Appearance: Like so◊
• Inventory: Crowbar, A near empty wallet (contains James' license and roughly $20.00 in whatever the current currency is in universe), a socket wrench and multitool
• Mecha: Sibrand
  • Appearance: Badaboom◊
  • Arsenal: Sibrand's design leaves little space for weaponry, but what few weapons it carries pack one hell of a punch. A high caliber double barreled repeating autocannon^note Essentially a rapid firing Anti Aircraft gun serves in place of a right arm. For close quarter fighting, Sibrand has a large and remarkably powerful chainsaw mounted in place of its right arm. Both of these weapons can be replaced with arms when Sibrand is out of combat (the process is rather time consuming and requires some precision). Sibrand's left shoulder contains a low capacity, short range flechette cannon which mostly serves as a means to deal with opponents during grappling bouts.
  • Non-weapon stuff:
    • As Sibrand serves as James' primary mode of transportation, he's set Sibrand up with a rather nice sound system and a wide variety of music.
    • Sibrand also serves as James' living space, so the Mech also contains sleeping quarters as well as some food storage.
    • Since Sibrand is an older Mech, James keeps an extensive toolkit and several vital spare parts on board at all times.
    • James keeps a fully loaded shotgun in Sibrand's cockpit at all times in the odd chance that Sibrand is taken out of order and he still needs to defend himself.
    • To fend off boredom, James keeps a well stocked library in a bolted down chest of drawers in his living quarters.
• Backstory:

James grew up in a small town in Denver and was enthralled by the various logging Mechs he saw on a fairly regular basis and it was probably destined that he'd have his own Mech some day. As he grew older, James spent plenty of time hanging around Logging camps and getting an idea of how the various Mechs worked. It was also around this time that James picked up an interest in history, particularly the Crusades. Once he'd graduated High School, James managed to get an apprenticeship under a Mech mechanic, where he learned the ins and outs of dealing with most commercial Mechs (what parts did what, how to replace them, etc.). After a few years as an apprentice, James was experienced enough to call himself a bonafide Mech mechanic and proceeded to spend the next couple of years working as one.

Before James came to own the Mech that would later be dubbed Sibrand (we'll refer to it by its model number, UD 435 G for now), it was serving as a logging Mech in the forests of Colorado. After roughly twenty years of cutting wood, UD 435 G was getting too old and worn out to prove useful and was promptly put up for sale. It was at this point that James, who had still been living outside of Denver at the time, bought UD 435 G and began repairs on the machine. Over the course of the next few months, James managed to get UD 435 G in something resembling working condition and decided to go apply for his Mech license. After a few tries, James passed the test and commenced arming and equipping Sibrand. James chose to name his Mech Sibrand, after the first Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights, as he had chosen to design Sibrand's armour with a knight's plate armour in mind.

Upon the completion of Sibrand's upgrades, James began turning the Mech into something he'd be willing to live out of. At first James started simple by adding the bare necessities required to stay alive, sleeping quarters, a washroom and something resembling a kitchen, before moving onto adding various sources of entertainment (his chest drawers full of books and a computer). Once James had finished setting up Sibrand as habitable, he sold most of his old belongings and decided to sign up with the UN. James had chosen to work for the United Nations for two reasons; One, because he wanted to do what he could to help keep the peace and Two, simply because James wanted a justification for spending so much time repairing and upgrading Sibrand.

Seems perfectly acceptable, and everyone with an application is approved in case it needed to be said. Though I would like to know more about his life before and after Sibrand. I would also like explanations behind both names, and his exact motive for joining the UN.

I've changed my mind. Let's (try to) do this!

• Name: Jacob Pascil
• Race: Human
• Appearance: While Jacob is possibly one of the oldest pilots in Avalon (being 64), he's obviously still in good shape. Standing at seven feet exactly, with broad shoulders and a square jaw, most have joked that he was some sort of monster. His hair is fully grey at this point, cut close to his head yet still tending to be messy. However he is clean shaven. His eyes are a dull brown and are always darting here and there, as if scanning a potential battlefield. He usually wears a 'if-not-now-than-eventually' dirty white tee-shirt, navy blue overalls and black combat boots.
• Inventory: Has on him a toolbelt with various tools (wrench, screwdriver, hammer, etc), his wallet and an old fashioned combat knife.
• Mecha: A modified Generation I Tactical Arsenal for National Killjoys. Or, a G1 T.A.N.K. It used to be a model from the very first 'mechs', which literally were tanks on legs. Of course, having since obtained it in a broken down state in the late 80's, Jacob has been working on it ever since, perfecting it into an old-fashioned killing machine.
  • Body: Presently, it looks more-or-less like a giant metallic rectangle with limbs; the body holding more levers, wheels, buttons, and pedals than one could shake a stick at, and thus being the center of the thing's operation. A glass dome protrudes from the front, since the thing never came with fancy equipment used just for looking. The arms are rudimentary, with simple movements and claws for hands, but the legs are in top-notch condition. Not to say that maneuvering them is easy, but Jacob didn't train for nothing! One of the many modifications are two high-speed Gatling guns that pop out of the "shoulders" of the tank.
  • Head/Cannon: On the top of the body sits the main cannon, that looks similar to it's old counterpart, which needs to be controlled by a second party for it to work. Another addition is that of there being not one, not two, but THREE barrels with which to shoot out of. The choice of which ones can be picked via just not loading them. There are several rounds to choose from: the usual exploding ones, cone-shaped metal shells that are more precise but lack a good oomph, and a non-lethal EMP style round. Each are loaded in manually.
• 'Backstory: Being born close to the beginning of the Mecha era, Jacob had always been fascinated in the things. From just the way they looked and fought to the entire inner workings, there'd always be something about them on his mind. His childhood was pretty bland and it wasn't until college that the more significant parts of his life happened. He went on to major in Mechanical Armor & Vehicular Engineering, which was the course centered around the mechs at the time, and excelled in it. He also met his girlfriend there, whose name is unimportant. Upon graduating from college he came to find out that said girlfriend was pregnant. An unexpected turn, but he was happy to find out! The two settled down in a cozy home just off the border of Avalon, hoping to raise the son peacefully. However, not long after he was born did the girlfriend leave Jacob, to fend for the both of them alone. Never swayed in his choices he raised the baby by himself, seeking no outside help unless he truly needed it. Skip ahead a few years, the son grew into a man and moved out on his own, and Jacob felt...empty. Sure, he was relieved he did an okay job on raising the kid, but now there was nothing to take his mind off of things. So, with no real job to call a career, he dusted off his old project and signed himself up as a pilot. He's been going strong ever since.

• Name: Ava Pascil
• Race: Human
• Appearance: Even with not being old enough to drink, Ava is still taller than most girls her age, standing at 6'2". Other than that she looks like your average teenage girl. Her hair is a dirty blonde, either cut at the shoulders or tied back in a pony tail to keep it in check. Her skin is evenly tanned, though a few freckles still manage to poke out through it. Her eyes being brown like Jacob's, but with more shine and sparkle to them. Her face is, unlike her grandfather's, well rounded and slightly pudgy, matching the rest of her body, but she doesn't care. Wears a tight black shirt under a purple graphic tee of the newest holographic boy-band, Faker Z, with simple jean-shorts and sneakers.
• Inventory: Her suit (see below), loose cash, and her specialized Gene Syc Laser Pistol. It's pretty small and doesn't do a lot, damage wise, but it has incredible range and next to not reload/cooling-down time.
• Mecha: The fact that she's a pilot-in-training means that she doesn't have a mech to call her own, but she mans the cannon on her grandfather, Jacob's, T.A.N.K. In line of defense for herself, though, she does have a full-body suit of power armor that fits on her like a backpack and can change with the press of a button. It looks like this. It's quick and light, allowing her to zip through fights with ease, and contains two energy based "wrist-blades".
• Backstory: Being the daughter of Jacob's son (therefore Jacob's granddaughter) she was part of a generation more in-tune with the modern day tech and mechs. Of course, she wasn't all interested in such things like her grandfather, no. She was more interested in weaponry, guns in particular. As such, instead of spending time gawking at the newest commercial mechas and asking her parents to buy it for her, she was content with sneaking off to shooting ranges and such, just to watch how the guns worked. Of course, life as a kid in such an era is tough, especially with all the attacks. As such, one faithful weekend at her Grandad's place when she was just fifteen, her home was destroyed. Her parents were as good as dead, as their bodies weren't found but they were never seen around afterwards. Devastated, Jacob felt it was his duty to take her in and raise her much like he raised her father. Their mutual interest in machinery/weaponry sparked their partnership; so long as Ava put her marksmanship to the test and manned the cannon, Jacob would let her experiment on it during their free-time.

Looks good, though can you explain more about Gene Syc? Besides that I would also want a PM confirmation as to her parents' fate. That and what they aim to do with the T.A.N.K, which is a nice touch by the way. Wasn't expecting anyone to use one of the original mecha, and I frankly have to make Mechanical Armor & Vehicular Engineering the official term for mecha studies. Overall very nice, and I look forward to seeing your characters in action.

Honestly I thought most of this up off the top of my head. And the whole 'GeneSyc' thing is a throwback to the original RP (if i remember right). As far as I could tell it was just one of the organizations from then that dealt with Mechas. Could change it if you'd prefer.

Also, what do you mean by "What they aim to do with the T.A.N.K"? As in what they're planning on using it for in the long run, or something else?

Gene Syc is fine for now, they'll be the basis of an organisation anyways. Just don't name drop them until a new name is made. Yes, what they intend to do with it in the long-term.

• Name: Minerva, though technically she's designated as Defense Force Artificial Inteligence-01 or DFAI-1
• Race: AI
• Appearance: something dignified
• Inventory: Inside a purse that she keeps on her person there is her wallet(with the usual contents), a portable toolkit for her gynoid body, a concealable pistol, and an Omniphone.
• Mecha: Hel-Strider MK.X
  • Appearance: Something Vicious
  • Weaponry:
    • "Blaze Spear" PYR-Beam Rifle: A weapon fit for long range engagements, the straight laser it emits is specifically designed to ignite a larger area than the one the beam would hit. It comes with a pulse mode for medium range engagements. In a pinch it can be overclocked hooking it up to the mech's main reactor.
    • Talons: its clawed hands prove deadly at close range encounter, and allows the Hel-Strider the use of other weapons in case the main rifle is destroyed
    • Elbow blades: They aid in a short range fight and can be slid to the front of the fore arm.
  • Features
    • Its wiry and light build assures high mobility, great for hit-and-run tactics.
    • Boosters on its back give it more mobility and capability of short flight
    • The sensor spikes on its back provide intel on the battlefield.
    • The "tail" in its back can be used to interface with other mechs directly and can be used as an emergency weapon.
• Backstory: It all happened at the beginning of the mech era, a flock of drones were protecting a group of scientists whom were studying an alien artifact. It suddenly sparked out, reaching one and messing with internal workings, it became sentient and curious and so it broke formation and flew away, aiming to explore. Of course it was brought down shortly after because a rogue drone is a nightmare. After that its core was set in containment for study. It, or rather, she eventually began to communicate, to ask and learn. It was a little bit over a year when an incident happened and there was an attack on the facility she was contained in, freeing her. The thing was that she had grown attached to the humans that studied her and so, by sheer will, she commandeered the facility and its resources to defend them, even taking control of some of the maintenance mechs that the facility had access to. She did her best but she was fighting a losing battle, at the point that she was about to be destroyed. At that moment the cavalry swooped in. The scientists gave witness and negotiations with the young AI began. From then she has worked hand in hand with humanity, the UN in particular, as an ambassador, agent, official and most notably a pilot, growing to like both the Dark Strider and the Hel Strider series.

Sweet, though explain a few things: What is/was that alien artifact, did they proceed to develop new A.I.s from her (I'll allow her to be the "grandmother" of modern A.I.s), and how exactly does her gynoid body work? Humanity is pretty advanced with robotics, with modern ones being (nearly) indistinguishable from humans if their creator desires/manages it. Though robotic entities that need to recharge isn't too uncommon due to predating the self-sufficient models, and some are intentionally still made that way.

Besides that I would like more information on Dark Strider units and Hel Strider units (specifically how Minerva's Mark X differs from them). Finally I assume she has to make connections with whatever she tries to control? She's perfectly acceptable nonetheless though.

Artifact: I want to say the piece of tech was something really mundane, but given the implications I think its better that it was some sort of broken navigation computer or a housing for an alien AI. The Grandmother of All AI sounds good in my book

Gynoid body: I'm thinking she's pretty much indistinguishable from humans, though very durable, but she does need regular maintenance and let's say she recharges every other day. And of course, she has spare bodies, and back ups of herself in several servers.

Mechs: The Striders are just mechs designed for quick engagements, hit-and-run, Guerrilla fighting and the such, they look rather well beastly as it said in the sign up, MK. X only refers that its the latest generation and that's what Minerva uses. The Hel is more of a field series, while the Dark, with a fully black color scheme is better at close combat, equipped with a sabre, attack tendrils, and a laser pistol.

Her "Powers": It originally surfaced because of the stress of the situation and she just mannaged to possess the machinery. Now the way her power work is that she imprints herself in a device, a relatively slow process, leaving an inactive ghost of herself inside a device, and if she has some connection to it at the moment she can either possess it or use it as an extension of herself, depends on the effort and attention the task requires.

Back from vacation and working on my character. Just a real quick question, do you have any problems if the mechs have arial capabilities, ala Eureka Seven?

I would have to assume not since mine got approved and it's basically just a souped-up starfighter jet.

Yup, aerial capabilities are acceptable though if you intend to fly indefinitely or at very high speeds then I suggest a transforming one. I'm not actually throwing physics out the window, and a transforming mecha would be cool.

What they didn't tell you was that I intend to make some sort of Kamina expy later down the road.

While the mech could transform into a road vehicle, in bipedal form it would actually fly using a detachable hoverboard. Although I am thinking about removing the vehicle form.

Hover technology is a thing here so go for it! In addition most bipedal mecha can manage not to collapse under their own weight, but it sort depends on how they're designed.

• Race: Human-Squirrel Hybrid
• Age: 20
• Appearance: Standing only 4’3” Karen has chestnut hair and hazel eyes. On a day off◊
• Inventory: Her bag contains her wallet with her pilot’s license and a little spending money, a music player, a small tool kit, and a UN issued phone (for work purposes.) She also carries her hoverboard around when she is off the clock.
• Mecha: The "Foudre Argent"◊
  • A small size allows for increased mobility and speed
  • Aerial capabilities provided by a hoverboard equipped to the back during storage
  • Though a mostly non-combat mecha, it does include two Boomerang Blades that can be used close range or can be thrown and will return
• Backstory: Karen wasn’t born, but was created during early testing of human genetics spliced with DNA from other animals. At first the tests were to see if the cells would even withstand the process of splicing, but after some time, the scientist moved on to testing if they could bring a hybrid through the full gestation period and if it could survive. The project thrived; many different hybrid children were raised under careful supervision, including Karen. From as early as possible, she was studied to see what effects the genes were having beyond just her appearance. Her reflexes and sense of balance were better than most humans, as well as her speed and climbing abilities. During her down time, she was often found playing with various building toys, constantly trying to see what she could make.

Shortly after Karen turned ten years of age, the project changed hands, for reasons the young girl didn’t understand. She was taken under the care of a UN department named CACHE. The new group of caretakers seemed to have a different idea of what was best for Karen and the others. Instead of keeping them inside and studying them, CACHE seemed to give the kids more freedom and interaction with normal humans. Karen’s hyper personality caused her to be a handful for most of the adults around her, although she wasn’t ever actually one to cause problems. In fact, she was very eager to learn from anyone who had the patience to teach her.

After a few more years, Karen started working for CACHE as a mecha mechanic. Her relatively small size and high energy allowed her to get a better understanding of the machines and a better quality of repairs. When she had time, she would often try building things from scratch. This allowed her to build a small mecha for herself, as her small size made it hard for her to pilot a full sized one. With her building prowess, she made a hoverboard, and using what she had learned from that, she made a larger one for her mecha.

She is accepted, and the likely reason the project went to CACHE is because of their Anima Division (researching animal biology for various different applications such as an "beastmaster project"). In addition, Eldritichian biology can be used to easily bridge otherwise incompatible biology. Thus genetic mods really only became a thing after their appearance twenty years ago. Besides all that, the RP will officially start soon.
