So we all know what The Worf Effect is.

New guy comes onto the scene and establishes himself by turning the strongest and toughest character on the heroes side (or possibly Vice Versa) into paste.

So I wondering if it's possible to write a scene where two characters, for lack of a better term worf to each other.

Their both the strongest guys on their respective sides, and they fight it out, and manage to show off their strength in an impressive manor seemingly kicking each other's asses.

Maybe they are both Made of Iron, or Made of Diamond, or Made of Air, or they have a technique that the other is particularly weak to or whatever.

It works better if neither have really lost before then, and have had impressive strength feats before that as well.

What do you guys think?

It would have to be two groups, both with semi-established character development prior to meeting. Both groups would need POV scenes. Otherwise it's just a strong character fighting someone on his level.

It is part of The Worf Effect that the supposedly strong character is defeated to establish the other character as a threat, or whatever.

If he was not beaten, then there is no Worf Effect, you just established the first character as fighting someone equal, or more powerful, and if HE then proceeds to beat the snot out of the other, it seems more like a ping pong of power.

It's not a bad thing. But I don't think a "mutual worf effect" is...a thing.
