Maybe if the ratings get too bad, they could start airing it on Disney Channel. You know, the channel that people don't have to pay for to watch(even though I have XD, I still think them putting Star, Wander, and Gravity Falls was a bad idea).
Still real salty we won't be getting a new episode on the 27th. Hopefully though it might mean that they changed the date for it to air to a later day in the week and not that its on a break. Yes I'm probably denying the inevitable. I'm trying to find some way to fool my self because of just how addicted I am to this show some how.
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013Why take a break in the middle of... nothing? I mean... I really don't think that the next episode is going to be a cliffhanger.
Yeah, I don't have XD either. I'd try to watch it live if I did. As is I have to watch online. Speaking of which I need to catch up on the latest episode.
Reaction Image RepositoryNot too sure. Esp. since the show just started a few weeks ago. Then again Disney Channel and XD seem to love putting episodes of their cartoons on hold in recent times(Gravity Falls, Wander, even Phineas and Ferb).
I just hope that no episode on the 27th means either moved the date of airing episodes to a different day or it's just that week we're getting no episode but we get a new episode the week after that.
Like I said, putting it on a premium channel is a bad idea. Gravity Fall's 2nd season just shows how bad it is. Besides episodes like the season premiere, Little Gift Shop of Horrors(oddly), and Not what he seems, the ratings are poor compared to when it was airing on Disney Channel. Even the afformentioned episodes have lower numbers than season 1's.
As for worries of Season 2 being cancelled early, I say wait for next week. This weeks was probably low cause of the episode being on demand and then getting leaked on to the internet. If next weeks ratings suffer, I say its a bit fair to worry.

x4 Simple math; season 1 needs to be stretched out until Season 2 is ready to go (2016 - animation takes a loooong time to make). There just aren't enough episodes to run new ones every week. But they have to get a few out there to cycle through repeats.
Getting worked up about week-to-week ratings variances will make one go more insane than Star already is. After all, they didn't go and order seasons 3, 4, 5 and 6 in light of the record ratings for the premiere, now did they?
Never be normal.Little gift shop of horrors got good ratings because it premiered a few days early on Disney Channel (as part of Monstober).

my blogExpanding on the whole "there aren't enough episodes to air", I was wondering... is it possible for a show to change something during its production?
I mean, while we don't really dislike the show (I think...), we're all pointing out its flaws and its wasted potential (and not just on TV Tropes, but everywhere on the Internet). Is it possible that some of the later episodes (or even Season 2 -if it doesn't get cancelled) are being "fixed" / re-written as a reaction to the early criticism? Or is it too late? Just curious (it would be cool, though).

I don't really know.
While I have seen a lot of criticism on the subreddit for the show, I haven't seen much critisim for the show else where, even else where. I've seen you point out the show's flaws the show multiple times on the thread but not that many others here. No offense. I'm not trying to pick on you or anything, but I feel like you as well as some other fans are expecting a little too much from this show so early on. I feel like shows like Steven Universe, Adventure Time, and Gravity Falls have kinda messed with people's expectations for this show since the main criticism I've seen directed at the show is how it's not living up to it's potential, even though the show has just started. Which has been bugging me. It's gonna take some time for it to reach its "potential" the fans are wanting. Just like the shows I mentioned. They all started off pretty goofy and had more simple plots before having story and character arcs. And even when they started growing their beards or had already grown them they still have simple stories some times. And it's likely the same with Star. The show has some things that are likely building up to something later on(Like the Monster Arm and St. Olgas). Fans(including you, again no offense intended) need to realize that the show is gonna take some time to grow it's beard.
Also, the likelihood of Season 2 being cancelled before this season ends is kinda low. At least currently. If the show consistently doesn't pull in the viewers maybe that could happen. But with only one episode so far having low ratings(which is likely due to it being shown aired online early), I can't see S2 being cancelled.

My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013I've seen people on Tumblr complain a bit about the show too, again for the same reasons. It's a little ridiculous, really, since Star is only on its 6th episode, I think? I know when I was watching the first six episodes of Steven Universe, I thought its quality was on par with what I think of Star 's quality so far. There wasn't some kind of an overarching plot in SU at that point. So why are people expecting that from Star so early?
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself. Finally caught up on last week's episodes. I actually thought they were both pretty good. In "Cheer Up Star" I liked how they formatted it with the flashback, and the whole gag of spending the whole episode to make the armor only for it to be useless at the end amused me. "Quest Buy" was hilarious. I think Ludo gets funnier every time he shows up, and having him act like the put-upon mom to his monster posse is always good for comedy.
As for the general quality, I basically agree with this . The show is still in the "setting up the universe" phase, introducing all the characters and setting up stuff for later episodes. I mean, we're only a few episodes into the season; they've got more than enough time to go back and pick up on previous references. There's actually some pretty decent continuity already (i.e. Ludo's monsters being the same, the laser puppies), it's just that none of it has been plot relevant yet.
Reaction Image RepositoryThe last couple of episodes were solidly enjoyable, I watched them with a friend and we both liked them. I expect things will get plottier later on but there's no big rush so long as the episodes keep being funny and touching in the meantime. Said friend pointed out that I also have a tendency to try to sneak things into the shopping basket. Always good to watch a cartoon and most closely identify with the bad guy's henchmen.
Caught up on the series. So far I kinda like it. Not a fan of the intro theme, though. Also, I kinda ship Star and Marco, but I prefer them to stay in the besties-zone. Their dynamic works better that way.
Signatures are for lamers.I also really like the show. I'm glad people are considering it in the yet-to-grow-the-beard phase. My main problem (though 'problem' is way too strong a word) with it is the plots tend to be a little generic; good ideas, like in Quest Buy, but they play out predictably. I don't really know how to describe it. I just know that I managed to predict the twist in one episode, and then predict the second twist to the twist a minute later.
But I've just been watching too much Steven Universe, so don't take anything I say personally.
Also, I really want to see Tom again.
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.Other exchange student I had that problem. Felt way too predictable and cliche. Haven't had that problem with other episodes though. At least not as much.
Tom gonna be back. At least once since there was that story board with him taking Star to demon prom.
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013Anyone else compare Tom to Marceline?
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.Beyond a planned episode that's storyboarded but hasn't aired yet, has Tom had any appearances to really get a gist of his character? He only really appears for two seconds for a gag in "Match Maker" so far.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. As far as I know, he's in the theme song with Match Maker as his only in-show appearance.
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating. But he does make a sort of demonic vampire face like Marceline does when he says, "Don't hang up!"
Don't listen to that guy! He's trying to lead you down the path of righteousness. I'm gonna lead you down the path that rocks.(no new episodes in May, for SVTFOE at least).
Yeah, hard to judge Tom when he hasn't really done much. I'm sure he'll show up later.
And yeah, "exchange student" is probably the weakest episode so far, although for me it's largely because I didn't find Gustav to be a particularly interesting character.
Reaction Image RepositoryAre you fucking shitting me? I know Gravity Falls won't be back until summer(Which still really pisses me off), but not only no Star, but no Penn Zero, Wander, 7D, and only 2 new Randy Cunningham episodes? What the actual fuck Disney? Why? Just why? I am legitimately mad right now. Besides only 2 new Randy Cunningham episodes(in the middle of the month), the only cartoons getting new episodes are the forgettable Hulk and new Avengers cartoon and even than it's not that much. God fucking damn it! Not even new Rebels or Ultimate Spiderman? Come on Disney!
Why is Star already going on a break? It started just weeks ago and the season seems ready to ship in its entirety. I get that they need some time for Season 2 but still no episodes for a little over a month? I swear, Disney Channel and XD's way of handling their cartoon's air dates baffles me.

One week of ratings is never indicative of how the show is doing overall. Ratings performances fluxuate up and down all the time.
