Marco isn't the main character...so that doesn't apply.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Sometimes I wonder.
I dunno, he's pretty much in Deuteragonist territory. His name might not be in the title, but he's always been about on par with her in terms of focus.
Anyway, yeah, it's good to see we're getting at least two more seasons. This season raised a ton of questions and potential connections between various characters and I really want to see how everything ties together. In particular I wan to learn more about what the heck is up with Toffee's plan, because as of now it's not exactly clear what's going on with him and how everything fits together. I mean, he gets Star to blow up her wand, somehow hides his finger inside it, splits the crystal and inhabits the other half of it in order to manipulate Ludo into stealing the spellbook so he could read Eclipsa's chapter, allowing Toffee to take posses him, which somehow gives him a massive powerup that allows him to curb stomp the entire High Commission? There are a lot of questions to be asked about exactly why he had to go through all of that rigamarole.
Reaction Image RepositoryThat depends on how long the finger has been in the wand considering it seems to have been originally severed when he fought Moon. The Wand being cleaved could be what made the finger become active if it has been in there for a while.

.... holy cow that's SAD. And I really want that to play at the end of one or a few episodes!
WARNING: Ya'll are about to get a LOT of text about a stupid theory I came up with!
The more and more I think about it, I'm starting to believe that part of Toffee's original plot involved corrupting/taking over Star's mind and wand, rather than Ludo's. I even went back and rewatched certain episodes with this theory in my brain, and here's what I've picked up on:
Back in season 1 whenever Toffee creates a plan to help Ludo "steal" the wand, none of these plans involve harming or killing Star. The fortune cookie had the suggestion that love is always the answer, 'Mewdipendence Day' was more about getting rid of Buff Frog than stealing the wand, and in 'Marco Grows a Beard' Toffee suggests getting the wand while it's unattended (maybe because he didn't want Ludo's monsters to fight Star?). Then in 'Storm the Castle' when one of the monsters grabs Star, Toffee tells him to stop. This would make sense if Toffee needed Star for something, and thus didn't want her to be harmed.
My best guess is that in 'Storm the Castle', Toffee planned on cleaving the wand and embedding his soul/life force into half of the cleaved crystal, and for the Butterfly family to find it right away and reunite it with the rest of the wand. But this didn't happen because the piece of crystal his soul was embedded in ended up flying waaaaaaay too far away. So Toffee had to settle for someone else to find him, and that someone was Ludo. That's why in 'Ludo in the Wild' he has a vision of Star at the end of the episode that leads him straight to the Toffee-wand.
So in the episode 'The Hard Way' we get confirmation that the voice Ludo's been hearing in his wand is in fact Toffee's. This makes the previous episodes where the wand "spoke" to Ludo much more interesting with this in mind. The first time Ludo hears this voice is in the episode 'By the Book', when Ludo is struggling to control the magical powers of his new wand. So what does Toffee-wand suggest? Kidnapping Star so she can teach Ludo how to use his wand. This suggestion doesn't really make sense with the context that Toffee already knows who Glossaryck is (and probably already knows about the book of spells), so what would Toffee gain from taking Star herself? At this point he was probably still banking on the two halves of the wand crystal being reunited after Ludo kidnaps Star so he could go ahead with that original plan of corrupting/taking over Star's mind. But then Ludo got fixated on the book and Toffee had no choice but to go along with it. Then in 'Is Mystery', after Buff Frog discovers Ludo is the mastermind behind the stolen corn, Ludo wants to kill him. But interestingly enough, Toffee-wand tells Ludo to not kill him and have him work for them. At first this really confused me, especially since we know Toffee kicked Buff Frog out of Ludo's castle in S1 because Buff Frog was suspicious of him, so why would he suddenly want Ludo to spare him? Then it dawned on me: Toffee knew Buff Frog was going to escape as soon as he got the chance, and Toffee wanted Buff Frog to warn Star so she would come and "raid the cave" looking for Ludo, and thus giving Toffee another chance to have the two wand halves reunited. But Toffee underestimated Buff Frog's intelligence, since he sent Star scribbled crayon "warnings" as opposed to actually telling her in person, so that plan fell through. After this I think Toffee just decided to focus on making Ludo stronger instead of trying to get the wand halves reunited.
So...What exactly would Toffee have gained from corrupting Star's wand and possibly her mind? Well for one thing Star's been established as being pretty dang powerful, which is something that hasn't been seen since Queen Eclipsa. In 'Fortune Cookies' there's a scene where Star blasts Ludo's monsters away with her magic, and Toffee (standing on the roof so he doesn't get injured) looks back at Star and smirks. Perhaps Toffee was gauging just how powerful Star was in this episode and was pleasantly surprised at her strength, which makes sense if Toffee was planning from the get-go to use Star for his own agenda.
It's been hinted at that Toffee wants to overthrow the Butterfly family from power. So imagine if his plan of corrupting the wand and Star had been successful, and Toffee used her to attack the castle. Not only would the royal guards have a hard time fighting against the princess they were always taught to protect, her parents would as well. It's also a pretty darn good way for Toffee to get revenge on Moon for cursing him, because not only did he corrupt the wand that's been in Moon's family for generations, but he also managed to corrupt her only daughter. That's some dark stuff man. Even if Toffee wasn't planning on possessing Star, I still think he needs her for something.
So yeah this theory probably has a bunch of holes in it, especially since I'm not sure how his finger or connection to Eclipsa play into it, but I still had fun typing it up :D

Perfect is very boringI've probably listen to Star's Princess Song enough times that I've spent more time listening to it than I did watching the final two episodes.
That's actually a really interesting theory. Makes as much sense as anything else given what we know.
Reaction Image RepositoryWhat a shocking ending, Marco will never see Star again!....Or maybe he will just use his scissors any second now. Who knows.
I've been watching this show for the past few days. It's pretty good. Star is a interesting protagonist and Marco is pretty cool as well.
How far along are you?
Reaction Image RepositoryI finished episode 3 yesterday.
Then this thread is extreme spoiler territory for you.
"We be we baby!"Yeah, the 2nd season finale just aired on Monday, so you're going to hit with a crapton of spoilers if you aren't careful.
Needless to say, there's an overarching plotline that will crop up.
Reaction Image RepositorySo yeah, Star already left Marco's house, but given that Toffee knew of the location and was spying on the place in the first season, what's stopping Toffee from kidnapping Marco again to bait Star?
With a '0', not an 'O'Yeah, that's probably where we're going with this. Not that bringing Marco would have helped that much, because there would still a bunch of kidnapping targets left on Earth.
But yeah, Toffee is definitely going for Marco as soon as he runs into any kind of potential difficulty. Toffee does not seem the sort of person to do things the hard way when there's an easy way.
Kind of makes me wonder if that spying magic is still on Marco's house after Ludo's castle was destroyed, and even right now.
With a '0', not an 'O'I have thought up the most insane Crossover AU imaginable: So King Vegeta, for political reasons initially, marries Queen Moon Butterfly after River Butterfly nee Johanson dies for some reason, and the two have Star as their daughter, making her half-Mewman and haif-Saiyan, giving her both the powerful magical capabilities of the Butterfly line as well as all the powers of a Saiyan, including the ability to turn into a giant ape when looking at the full moon; increased power after recovering from near fatal injury; and of course, ki blasts. Of course, this automatically make her next in line to rule both the Kingdom of Mewni and the Saiyan Empire, which causes her older half-brother Prince Vegeta no end of jealously, not to mention the machinations of Moon's old enemy, Toffee.
I have NO idea how to further develop that insanity, aside from Goku being Demoted to Extra and Star becoming a Super Saiyan.

DAMMIT MARK, STOP HOTTING HELPY!!Does anybody get shot with a a Stand arrow?
Reaction Image RepositoryFeel free to add in Jo Jos Bizarre Adventure into the mix, because I certainly can't, due to not knowing how to fit it in and that I'm not a fan of that franchise.

DAMMIT MARK, STOP HOTTING HELPY!!I'm just trying to think of ways to make it even more ridiculous. Though a Star/DB crossover is nuts enough on its own.
Reaction Image RepositoryHow's THIS for nuts??
When Star goes to Earth to live with Marco, turns out that Marco was adopted by Bruce Wayne after Rafael and Angie were killed off by drug pushers whom were hiding their product inside Rafael's art pieces without him knowing anything about it and get misblamed for a missing shipment. Marco wants to join Bruce when he goes out as Batman when Marco finds out, but is forbidden to do so, thus Marco trains in secret and dons the identity of Nightwing to go looking for the one's responsible for his parents' death and stopping crime along the way.
Thus, we have Marco, adopted son of Batman and holder of title of Nightwing, who is best friends with Star Butterfly Vegeta, Half-Mewman Half-Saiyan Princess and Heir to both the Kingdom of Mewni and Saiyan Empire, Half Brother of Prince Vegeta, and they live together in Gotham City. Did I mention that Star can shoot kai blasts and turn into a kaiju sized monkey under the full moon as well as magic?
PS Mewni has a set of Dragon Balls as well.

DAMMIT MARK, STOP HOTTING HELPY!!
I'm sooo glad there will be at least four seasons. I really was afraid they were going to end it soon because when a lot of shows have the main character get the girl, it's usually not until the very end. That's why I love Penny and Gumball so much. I loved all the jokes "Kim Possible" made about that. Then they made more episodes anyway.
Starco was really the only thing that attracted me to this show. Dang, could I seriously be any more pathetic?
