Well there is an explanation by the demons for the war. A battle for magic, and in the current era all the magic is found in humans and animals.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

I did like Griamore causing the demon to blow himself up.

The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."

They say it was a war over magic power... why do I have feeling it was actually Demons being dicks and trying to steal it all for themselves?

Isn't that what she said? Though I bet most of the other factions were dicks too, apart from the humans who were probably completely useless and got the crap kicked out of them all the time.

To be fair, there were probably humans who tried to be dicks, but as you said were useless and failed.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Demons combined might forced the other clans to eventually team up during the war.

I wonder if Ass Girl is Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor's Wife, since that guy's soul got sucked out immediately after he came on to her.

[up][up][up]I've been thinking for awhile now that the reasons humans are in control now, is mostly because they were useless in the war and thus weren't focused on as much when the others were wiping each other out.

I figured Meliodas saw them (as well as giants and fairies, I suppose) as the victim of the entire struggle and got rid of the two biggest players. If it was a war of resources I bet the goddesses were just as invested in that as the demons, though probably less dickish. Though I suppose the demons had allies too, though vampires just seem like demons lite.

I can't help but feel Meliodas started out on an infiltration mission or something and just couldn't go throw with whatever he was supposed to do.

We know (or at least can assume) he fought in the war on the demons' side for a time.

Edit: As for the goddesses, whatever else they might have done, I don't think they were lying about why they couldn't show themselves to Ban. If they were sealed it probably wouldn't be possible to communicate with them at all. Though, Meliodas' reaction to Ban telling him what they said does lead me to believe there is some bad blood that goes beyond him just being a demon even if they probably do think that's reason enough to kill him.

[up][up]I like that idea. And maybe neither side realizes that Mel also took down the other. After all, if he thought Mel's death might bring back the Gods, Galan probably would've hesitated.

At this point I rather want the Goddesses Clan to not be evil just because everyone expects them to be.

I don't expect them to be evil. I do expect some shadiness and Blue-and-Orange Morality but probably not outright evil.

I don't think they have to be evil anymore. The demons original motivation is already significantly less evil given that they were fighting over an apparently scarce resource. Takes two to tango.

It didn't sound like it was scarce then; it came off more as if it was everyone and everyone just wanted it all for themselves. Somewhere along the line everyelse (except Vampires because they suck in this verse') teamed up against the demons.

Edit: Who knows, maybe there's a legit reason the demons need it more than everyone else or maybe they were just so callous they didn't care how it would affect the others. The Ten Commandments, at least, give off the vibe that it was the latter.

The way they say it magic energy wasn't exactly scarce back in the day. The demons are exactly the type of jerks who would try to get it all for themselves regardless. Their first idea on how to speed up their recovery is to start devouring souls on a mass scale after all.

I wonder if generic demons come in any other colors?

That they can apparently summon the red and gray demons to do their bidding makes me believe more in the idea that the demons have a caste system and for whatever reason the human-looking ones are at the very top.

That still annoys me but I think it's more likely now.

I still want a Red Demon. They have such big, cuddly tummies! You know that weird way bulldogs are cute? Red Demons are the same for me.

[up][up]It's likely that the human looking ones have a true demon form that looks more monstrous.

LSBK Since: Sep, 2014

[up]That actually seems very unlikely. If Meliodas had something like that he most likely would have shown it when he lost control in Byzel or against Galan when he said he had no choice but to go all out. He did not.

And beyond that, I don't think it makes much sense to introduce three monstrous ones along with five human-looking ones (two indeterminate) only to go "Oh no, they have monster forms too, they just aren't in them...for some reason."

[up]It was pointed out he became much weaker, due to what was taken from him. It's possible if I am right that he has lost the ability to do so.

The idea that Merlin took his "true form" away seems very stupid to me. Yes, it's technically possible, but everything that's happened has lead me to believe it's not true. Even ignoring Meliodas, there are still the others.

It's like him being half-demon. It's technically still possible but there are very few things actually supporting it and reasons to believe it's not the case.

I didn't notice before, but apparently the red demon was speaking some language when it was harvesting souls. I guess they aren't mindless. I figured they were a mindless slave subspecies, but now we know that's (probably) at least one third not true!

The 'Friend or foe?' thing is kind of undermined by the next chapter being called 'The atoning Great Holy Knight.'

^^ If he did have a true form that he lost access to, it would probably be because he doesn't have his full power anymore rather than the other way around. Also, there are plenty of reasons why someone would want to look roughly human rather than like a giant monster. Being twenty feet tall and weighing several tons has some serious disadvantages.

[up][up]It was speaking the same language that Hendrickson was when he broke the seal. I guess it's just their ancient, native, language or something.

Also, I don't think this series would go into those disadvantages. The only inconvenience Diane's size has got her is that she can't go into most buildings. Well that and prejudices but all the clans seem to have that towards one another.
