One thing I've learned about Nanatsu No Taizai is that a lot of the characters are never quite what you'd expect. All the Sins were like that, heck even the Commandments are quirky.

I hope even with this, we only learn more about Mel, but not bring him back already. Probably give Arthur a d Elizabeth some quest to revive him.

No idea about Elaine, but if she's still alive, the entire goodbye just lost its impact. So I guess she's dead again.

I gotta say its gross that Meliodas is romantically & sexually interested in Elizabeth despite knowing her since she was a baby apparently.

I doubt she's dead. We didn't get any touching final words. We might get those in a flashback but for now I'm assuming she's still around. I mean, that kind of flashback would probably come while Ban was a miserable drunk drowning his sorrows or something which sounds too angsty to me and would be pretty annoying.

[up][up]We already knew that. Honestly, I don't get being worked up over that, it's hardly the most problematic thing about their relationship. It's not like he's been lusting after her the entire time, it seems like he barely even saw her before meeting up at the beginning of the series.

As for bringing Meliodas back, this will probably have hints to that but I'm assuming that's going to be a little ways off. Bringing him back in like five chapters seems pointless and there are other ways to set up flashbacks if that's what it's about.

[up]Angst is basically Ban's entire character when you get down to it.

Bad things happen to him but he usually doesn't angst about it. At least not like that.

I call "I'll never be loved or have another friend besides these two people" angsty. And they're both patently untrue for obvious reasons.

I mean self-loathing can be good for a character, and sometimes is pulled off nicely with Ban, but not mostly, I think. It's why I don't like him as much as most other people do. The things that make him "interesting" and "deep" just come off as annoying to me, for the most part.

Do you think at some point Elizabeth will remember her past lives? I think it's clear Liz isn't her only preincarnation.

Will her relationship with Meliodas get any less creepy if she does?

[up][up] Wow someone else who doesn't buy Ban's angst. I like Ban when he's a douchey troll, but when he gets emo it just feels so over the top and downright hilarious that I just can't take him seriously. It's one of the reasons that I don't like him as much this arc.

I can appreciate Ban when he's angsty, but I don't like when it drags on too long and we start losing douchey troll Ban.

The more I think about things the more I think this can't just end with "Let's keep the demons sealed forever!"

Like, I've been thinking that for awhile, but now that we've got a little more insight into the war via (the obviously biased) Estarossa, I just can't see this part of the story ending that way. I mean, it's not like the demons are pure evil.

Even if they were pure evil the story wouldn't end with them still sealed. Sealed legendary monsters always escape eventually so the heroes can put them down for good.

Okay, more specifically, I don't see them being released and just maintaining their antagonistic status for the rest of the series.

[up][up][up]They are pretty evil. The only one of them that has shown redeeming qualities is Meliodas and it seems he used to be just as bad as the rest of them before his unexpected betrayal.

[up] I don't agree with this. It is likely the Demon King will be the final boss of the series.

We've seen familial love (Estarossa), mercy (Zeldris), honor and respect (Fraudrin) and several sympathetic backstories (Dolor and Gloxinia).

I just can't see this ending with them just being defeated and the lesson being that's entirely justified when their actions now are a direct response to an attempt to completely wipe them out.

I mean, it bares keeping in mind that all the other races went along with it, and there are probably understandable reasons for that, but it's still a pretty fucked up thing to do.

And I've felt for awhile the best ending would be something that requires all five races working together, probably under Arthur's leadership or something.

Okay, I think I like Zaratras now. And hey, I was right that he came back because of the demons somehow!

Mel's odds-of-being-dead-o-meter went up again.

Because we're learning about his past without reviving him. Was one of your concerns, right?

But this chapter is implying he's not even really dead and/or that something like his happened before.

And the entire reason they're doing this is to find out what's going on so they can fix it.

I'm expecting his lifeforce to be connected to Eli's and Hawk's reincarnations.
