Beach episode, Sensei is too moe.

Episode 5:

• Teach became a slave to konomon.
• Write with magnificence!
• Beach Episode. A bit...rockier than usual. Sand's for kids, after all.
• Naru's such a wise grandma KID. KID, I say.
• Hiroshi Critical! It's not very effective!
• Teach's heart was in the right place. At the same time, quit torturing Tama's soul!
• Aw, how nice of you to cheer Naru on, Teach. And third slip's the charm. Rocky beaches, eh?
• Group hug!
• The result of the changes made to hair because of the weather varies from person to person. Having red algae for hair is within the realms of possibility.

The sea cucumber joke brought me back. I remember freaking out with all my younger siblings when my uncle threw that thing around.

Episode 5: Still fun fun fun! Sensei develops an unhealthy konomon addiction...before Naru, Miwa and Tama remind him of his calligraphy addiction. Then, beach episode! With no swimsuits and no sand. What's the point of a beach without sand? If you can get used to holding a sea cucumber, you become an adult. I don't blame sensei for not being as daring as Naru jumping off cliffs.

Rocky beaches are excellent for finding various sea critters. Oh yes.

What is kinomon, anyway?

It appears to be pickled daikons.

Episode 6:

• Oh, we got ourselves a haggler.
• Aw, what a touching moment of friendship. But, it's not Teach's fault that his phone became malfunctioned.
• So Kousuke was the winner of that competition that nearly sent Teach over the edge. Bugs are his weakness.
• Yeah, Teach was hot stuff. He also had some cool lines.
• It's tough being a friend of ol' Teach.
• Now don't be telling Teach what he should do. Teach will carve his own calligraphy way.
• Teach's hot stuff once again. Aren't ya glad?
• Oh, so that's why Tama was a non-existence this time. She will not lose!

It just struck me that lines uttered by artistic people and chuunis tend to be very similar, if Handa's any indication.

Episode 6: Kousuke and Kawafuji show up!

Naru eats raw snails.

Kawafuji's card is pretty.

Episode 7:

• Fishing: city folk just don't get it.
• Naru acquired a stick. Didn't really need it, though.
• Even Kousuke's in a slump.
• Kawafuji couldn't control his aura. So he was eaten instead.
• Naru's secret hook weapon actually worked! Well, it broke apart, and the fish got away, but it worked! Kousuke, eat your heart out. And everyone got a good laugh out of it.
• Teach mellowed out a little. Still prone to rebellion.
• Metal detection: it's funny.
• Another serious spotlight is stolen.
• I'm...pretty sure the car capacity wasn't at its limits, but whatever you say, chief.
• Oh, Kawafuji really does like them funny glasses.

Episode 8!

- Sensei is trying more alliterative calligraphy.

- What to get for Naru's birthday?? Small wild animals come to mind.

- Ken-chan has the right idea.

- Sensei caught a beetle with his face.

- Hercules beetles definitely aren't worth 20,000 bells in Animal Crossing.

- Poor Hercules Rest in Peace.

- And Kenta said it wouldn't bite...blatant lies.

- Sensei's birthday gift was so lame. Yeah, I gave my mom that gift when I was Naru's age. Naru loved it though.

- Sensei didn't do crap for Obon.

- Hey, the gold writing looks great.

- Onde are pretty cool.

- I like that dog now.

- Apparently they didn't have any guys except the singer, since Hiro is the senpai of this entourage.

- I wonder if Grandma flashbacks will ever happen. I kind of doubt it.

- We don't know anything about Naru's parents yet, but they don't have a grave.

Maybe her parents left the island or something.

Episode 8:

• Feather style calligraphy looks neat.
• Teach still can't get over his fear of touching bugs. But he did get over it. He just need a hand... ...Oh. Sorry 'bout that, Hercules
• A simple gift for Naru. The best gift ever!
• Naru's grandmother must've been a saint.
• Before this episode I've never wondered what happened to Naru's parents.
• Pochi's great. Well, Teach's image of it.

Episode 9!:

- Well, maybe if you Japanese had normal baths and showers like AMERICA instead of that steampunk riff-raff, this wouldn't be a problem.

- Naru to the rescue!

- What is it with those two and the "young girls" crap? Just give them the baka hentai treatment, Sensei!

- DAMN IT NARU.

- Miso cucumber is not very delish.

- OH GLOD HINA PLEASE STOP!

- I don't think it would be fun after about a minute.

- Sensei and Hiro take on a gang of elementary school boys!

- Dodgeball!

- Akki ruined everything with his maturity.

- One swing and somebody already got hurt, this is not a very safe game.

- Well, it broke.

- Mugwort for everything.

Episode 9:

• Today, the bath hates Teach's guts.
• Those darn girls.
• What sharp words. Teach's morale -50.
• Bullies have taken over the playground! Because their playground was taken over by those darn girls!
• Adult tactics are so immature.
• Akki, saint of maturity.
• Inspiration came to Teach. Then nature decided to hold him hostage for a while.
• Titans are in the mountains. Beware!
• Nature didn't hold Teach hostage. It just wanted to show him a good view.
• Looks like the call Teach's getting must've been sudden. What happened!?

Episode 10!

- The guy Handa punched forgives him. But sensei's not comin' back to Tokyo! >:-[

- Sensei already broke his promise to Naru.

- So sensei does have a useful talent besides writing fancy! Masonry!

- Uh oh.

- And he can dress people in yukatas and kimonos! All kinds of untapped talent!

- "Yes, long ago I read a basketball manga."

- Hey, you shouldn't have said you don't need money to write the plaque if you need a seven-year-old to buy you stuff!

- Pull a piece off and eat it, sensei!

- Interruption by fireworks. Of course.

- In the end he wasn't even able to tell anyone...how did Naru not see him, they were on the same road.

- Sensei had better change his mind or come back really soon!

Finally got around to watching the third episode after putting it on hold for several weeks, and I didn't expect it to have me laughing within the first 90 seconds.

I need more of this.

Episode 10:

• Naru never got to use her ticket at all. ...At least she skipped that rock?
• You worry too much about your calligraphy, you three. It's written by the winners. Wait, I got that wrong.
• Teach has hidden talent.
• Well, he's not the only talented one. Check out Iku's fish-catching skills!
• Ah, the curse of being unable to go to festivals.
• Tama's busy drowning in despair.
• Akki's so dependable.
• Basketball manga will not save you, Teach.
• Now, now, girls. No need to be vindictive towards your friends.
• Words need not be said. At least for the teens.
• And so, island fun times has ended, and Teach went towards the light. ...No, he didn't pass on, but it feels like he did, eh?

That was a nice ending, Sensei's mom is ridiculously hot, on what manga chapter the series ends?

Episode 11!

-Oh yeah, I forgot about what happened last episode...this may not be a happy fun episode.

- For what it's worth, I would totally display "Star" in my apartment.

- What? You don't think he'd like the cell phone strap? But it's so unique.

- But a farmer can be a fisherman. Haven't you ever played a Harvest Moon game?

- Damn it Handa, tea now!

- Sensei's mom is so young

- Bondage.

- Grown men roleplaying as lolis bondage; the worst. Handa is a tsunbaka.

- What a...sweet phone call.

- We don't get to see Stone Wall yet?

- Miwa has become a younger female Sensei. How could Tama betray her like that?

Episode 11:

• Oh, Teach. You're too impulsive. And you gave Kawafuji something to laugh about for a while.
• Hm, even Teach's pops has imperfections. Why did it have to be hill start!? Reminding me that I have to do my driving exam tomorrow or something!? Grrrr....
• Teach's even slumpier than usual. Well, coming up with something that could match his star is gonna be a chore.
• Teach's into bondage. We know this. His pretty mother didn't.
• The phone call Teach needed to get...
• Miwa... Do try not to become Teach II, please.

This is shaping up so far to be the best SOL anime I've seen since Silver Spoon.

I don't know how he could possibly top "Star". I felt that it was incredibly symbolic and just plain incredible. And I'm terrible at judging art.

Episode 12!

- Sensei's mom is a bit...overbearing.

- Wow, nobody ever talked about Handa senior living there.

- Visit him on the island, mom! You'll love it!

- Wow, there are anime middle schoolers living on their own but Handa's mom can't accept her 23-year-old moving away.

- He really should call though.

- The reappearance of villager #1!!

- Wow, Hiroshi cooked a LOT. They really prepared in such a short amount of time.

- So wait, did we ever see Sensei's calligraphy entry!?

Episode 12:

• Overprotective mother indeed.
• Oh, so Teach's pops went to that island too.
• Sound choice, Teach's mother. Your opinion should change once you visit.
• It'll take a while until Teach stops being impulsive.
• Darn slackers.
• Teach's calligraphy for the contest? The names of the islanders who influenced him so. Heh.
