It still doesn't make her good. It just means that the rest is bad.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I would argue she is good on her own, but not great. Solid, but not a masterpiece.

In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.I'd imagine.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. My only issue with Marie is how divorced she is from the actual plot for most of the game. I know it'd be hard to implement her more without changing the story entirely, but as it was it felt like she existed in her own universe in her S.Link until the plot finally included her.
For my money, I think they should have at least added her to those "Slice of Life" segments like they did in the anime.
There's nothing wrong with Marie by herself and in any other show, she'd be a decent character.
The problem I, and probably a lot of other people, have is that she very much feels tacked onto the plot. Her presence only becomes important after the main plot is over and done with, but beyond that she's just...another social link.
Now that by itself wouldn't be so bad, but then you got the Anime which kinda railroads her to being Yu's primary love interest and reduces literally the entire Investigation Team's roles down to cameo's at best. And since Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a direct sequel in which she appears in, she's now technically canon too.
I don't hate her, I just don't find her as compelling as Atlus tried to sell her off as.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. What Black Yakuzu said is the main reason I dislike Marie. Her being a Tsundere is more of a cherry on top.
None of this would be an issue if she was already in the original version of the game.
In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.I actually liked the way she was implemented though, the original run through they just forgot she exists and just continued on normally.. And really there was kinda a hole there which she filled especially in the 'why now' department.
The anime however failed with her on all fronts though.
but she's not, so that point is moot.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. And Twilight wouldn't have been an issue if it was well written.

The abundance of average or poor is exactly what makes her execution of the archetype well done.
After all, she's not hyper violent, she doesn't blow up at every little thing, and she's not some yandere or abusive girlfriend who gets away with domestic violence.
It's less of a critique on her and more of a critique of the industry. If we had a better written ensemble of Tsundere, she wouldn't be special by comparison to some others (like, I would say, Rin Tohsaka), but we don't.
