Why do we have general headscratchers pages for media types? That seems like a horrible idea for about a dozen reasons. So far I've found Headscratchers.Anime, Headscratchers.Manga, Headscratchers.Fan Fiction, Headscratchers.Film In General, Headscratchers.Game Shows, Headscratchers.Webcomics In General, and Headscratchers.Western Animation In General.

My vote is to just redirect them back to the index pages and cut any wicks, though they generally have low enough wicks and inbounds that cutting them outright wouldn't be out of the question.

I guess that people try to use them as ersatz general media threads.

I have wanted those cut for ages.

Aside from "I don't like them", why should they be cut?

Media categories are tropes, or collections of tropes. The same rules apply as for them: we don't have Awesome pages, we don't have YMMV, we don't have Headscratchers, we don't have WMG, etc. Nuke all of those with prejudice; we'll salt them with page locks.

Headscratchers only apply to works.

Well, redirecting some of them might be better than cutting. Anything with "In General" isn't needed, but pointing Headscratchers.Anime and Headscratchers.Manga at Headscratchers.Anime And Manga might help people trying to find the index. Same with Headscratchers.Fan Fiction and Headscratchers.Fan Fic.

Are people using those pages to post Headscratchers for works or for the genre/medium? If the former, then it makes sense to redirect them to the index for the actual Headscratchers pages relevant to that genre/medium. If the latter, then we can kill them with prejudice.

Almost all entries I can see are general, not about specific works.

Media categories are not tropes. "Movie" isn't a trope. "Advertising: is not, itself, a trope.

Per our definition of trope, they are, in the broadest possible sense. Regardless, you can no more have meaningful headscratchers about them than you can about summer, or wind.

Also it might just be me but they seem to have more complaining than the normal headscratchers pages.
