In one of my settings humans and a few other species access magic in this way, every inherently magical individual latches onto some kind of natural concept to centre their abilities around.

One of my characters' magic is based around the multiverse (his mother's magic was drawn from the flow of time)and I want to come up with some ways of keeping it from being too much of a Game-Breaker.

Maybe their magic is really powerful, but takes a ton of energy to use so they can only use their powers once in a while, or they might just die from exhaustion?

At the moment Sky's (the character in question) magic basically consists of pulling stuff from other universe and if he's up to it travelling to them himself.

Then maybe there could be a limit on how much/when/what he can pull from the other universes and how long/when he can travel to them.

How is the character a Game-Breaker? Are they capable of pulling in whatever they want, whenever they want? What if they blank on the appropriate object? Does the mass of the object matter? Do they have to locate the object somehow? Have they thought about what effects might result from the sudden disappearance of those objects from their own worlds—a knight suddenly losing his sword mid-battle, or a doctor's scalpel vanishing mid-surgery, for two examples?

If you think it is overpowered then just add limitations.

Maybe they need a lot of energy to do it.

Maybe they can only exchange items for other items of similar mass.

Maybe they need to identify the exact item in the other reality before they can summon it.

Maybe items are pulled back so keeping them in her reality takes increasing amounts of effort.

Maybe there is a risk of summoning surrounding items across. Try to summon a sword and you risk pulling across a whole knight.

If it helps the mechanism is basically making each reality "rub against" each other, like bunching up a rug so two ends are closer together momentarily.

I agree with the previous idea, maybe the stuff he pulls through is bound to return, making your character continually struggle to keep the object on this universe, the bigger the object, the more energy he needs. The same would apply if he travels to the other universe.

I'd just limit how many 'things' he can pull through in one day, and limit their size to his own, but rules-lawyer what counts as one 'thing'.

He can't pull in a gun because it consists of too many different parts, plus grains of explosive matter. He could pull in the individual pieces of a gun, and after a few days have a working 9mm, but not the bullets. (This does mean he can pull in weapons working on solid explosives, or single-element plastic explosives, but I'd just have his power veto that.)

He can't pull in a bowl of rice because it's a bowl and a thousand grains of rice. He can pull in a single mochi ball, as that counts as one single 'thing', and he can pull in some rice milk if he has a cup on hand to contain it immediately after pulling it in.

He can pull in a human, but they arrive Ahnold-style and he'll have to pull in clothes afterwards. Conversely, he gets used to the idea of showing up naked somewhere, then immediately pulling in an all purpose robe for use until he can acquire some actual clothes.

(Long time no see, Wizardof Woah!. Sorry I haven't been keeping up.)
