A new week, a new episode~!
Well, it was a meltdown for sure, but unlike the last time this happened to Naru, she has other people to help her get back on her feet. Good job, girls.
Quite a bit of focus on the two Tokiwa sisters, particularly Machi's hang-up with Sally. Sally being a temp is one thing, but that's quite a lot of built-up resentment there, Machi. That said, thanks to Tami, Machi seems to be poised to join next episode, so we finally have our complete cast.
Episode 9:
- Not a total defeat! Thank goodness. And Hana's fever was no big deal! All's right with the world...
- ...Now to tackle Machi's darkness.
- Tami, you're a lifesavernote . Your efforts got through to Machi. Now, she can see Sally for what she truly is; a reliable, kind person. And sister.
- And thus, say hello to the last member of the Yosakoi Club! *clap, clap, clap*
Actually, Sally-chan was the one who got tackled....
I'm amazed that the episode didn't linger on Naru's screw-up, and quickly moved on to the Tokiwa sisters' issue with each other. Not surprisingly, it was a big misunderstanding, though Sally just moving out when she did probably did a lot of damage. Some people just get tired of trying to fit into a role their parents try to put them into, which is understandable, but she could have also given her younger sister a better explanation before she left. Mph.
Oh, and anyone notice the Club list that Hannah carried in? XD Not only does the school have a school idol club, but it also has a freaking tank club and romance club?!? What?
In any case, we have our full ensemble finally... but will the remaining episodes be enough for the Hanairo Festival prep?
Tanks and school idols I recognize, but is the romance club a reference to anything in particular?
Love Lab, which was using the Student Council as a cover, remember? XD
Episode 10!
- Machi officially joins!?
- We learn about Hana's family life. Her dad seems nice, and yes her room is cute.
- Paper doors are quaint and all, but they must have zero soundproofing.
- Totally incorporate the umbrellas next time!
- Nobody looked into registration beforehand!?
- They ended up getting quite the audience!
- Senpai saved the day!
- Ehh, a sunflower is kind of gaudy compared to Machi...
- Hana's mom?
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot. That was decent, though having a major shake-up last half an episode was annoying
Next is Hannah drama. That'll be weird
Episode 10:
- Machi officially joins. And she's much more modest than everyone thought. But no, you still can't use her, Hana.
- Hana's dad seems cool.
- Let's train! ...They're on a train destined for the inn where the training camp takes place. To train. GET IT?
- ...What? They didn't even register for the festival? Lax! Y'all were too lax!
- Oh well, like that's gonna stop Machi from trying to catch up with the others. And they put on a great show, anyway. Happy memories will be made!
- And this is why Bro's the broest. And also because a team dropped out, but Bro's the hero here!
- ...Bad timing don't ya think, Mrs. Fountainstand...? Er, I mean, ex-Mrs. Fountainstand?
My greatest question is Aniki ever going to hook up with Sally-sensei?
If he does Hanna would lose the ability to get free stuff however.
Episode 11:
- So, mother's a workaholic, but she had always regretted not spending much time with her family. Now's better than never, right?
- Hana wanted to do yosakoi with everyone, but she also wanted to be together with her family. Tough place to be in. Think it would have changed if she told them about her dream?
- Well, at least she and Naru had one final friendship blowout.
- And so, the leader departs. But not before everyone saw her off.
- Well, this is gonna be tough. Their yosakoi way isn't the same without Hana. Besides, they need her to sing the OP song! They must do this together!
...Hmm, now I'm wondering if the manga's actually complete.
To the best of my knowledge, the manga is ongoing. Not sure what's going on here
In this episode, tears!
Tears!
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I mentioned before the low projected disc sales of the series previously (barely going to reach the 3k mark if lucky), but I neglected to also mention how Bandai-Namco seems to go to ridiculous lengths to make people aware of the game (live concerts, nicolive events etc,TV spots). They really seem to want the property to succeed.
wrong thread maybe? (this is a game?)
ah. Sorry about that. Wow, seems oddly high budget for one of those adaptions made to advertise something else.

I'm still talking about Hanayamata. I don't think you remember this, but the anime was announced with a rhythm game as well.
Then the pre-order data came in, and its projected that the anime won't sell many discs.
However, the plugging for the game still continues apace. And it's ridiculous to behold.
I would buy it, if I had a PS Vita and spoke Japanese.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Last episode: They finally get to perform with all five of them together and no one screwed up. But Hana shouldn't let those athletic skills go to waste
Best part is the cast singing the ED. Fitting end. Now I have another song to acquire
"If music be the food of love, PLAY ON" - William ShakespeareFairly decent ending. It'd annoy me in a continuing story, but it works as a finale. New ED was a nice touch, if worse than the regular one
Overall, I don't think the show was very good. Execution was fine, but the source material was lacking. In particular, it didn't seem to be able to focus on more than one character at a time, which is crippling since it's in a genre about character interactions
Episode 12:
- Ahahaha... Hana managed to make it after all. Flawless performance, girls.
- And she wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for that cop, and Sea Monk Bro.
- You know, Hana's parents were the only ones fully seen. Gah, Naru's mom especially went out of her way to hide her face!
And that's another cute show done. Oh, how fantastic!
So I decided to check this one.
Oh man, I absolutely loved the op! The dance in particular was absolutely fantastic!
As for the episode itself:
- Best cherry blossom scene ever.
- Holy shit, Hana is a goddamn ninja.
- Naru stumbling while trying to do kendo was adorable.
- I don't know about Japanese, but would you really admit to reading fairy tales when you are a middle schooler, especially if you are a girl?
- Oh God, enough with "kira kira" "kagayaku" and such!
- For an anime American character, Hana is actually pretty petit figure.
All in all, nice first episode with very splendid visual, but I am wary if this will have some forced conflicts later.

I kind of figured that Hannah being the smallest was a design decision, to contrast with Naru later on. Kind of like how Alice in Kiniro Mosaic is deliberately small and undeveloped despite being British.
Watched up to episode 7.
I was considering dropping the series because it was so dull, but episode 4 and on came along, and Tami & Yaya's increased focus made things far more interesting.
Yaya, in particular, is just so great.

K-On still relied on the 4koma structure though, but Hanayamata is from Forward, the only mag in the Kirara line that doesn't have 4komas in it, but more standard narratives. The drama is expected too.
