Huh, no response from anyone. Well, The main trailer for the anime will premiere at Anime Expo.
Watch SymphogearYeah that's the thing, we have nothing to go off of yet. All our speculation on what KLK could be last Spring didn't amount to much in the end.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them. So, the news out of AX is that it will be a TV series, and it will premiere in 2015 (likely for the winter or spring season). The trailer they showed didn't really have much animation, but it had a comedic tone. In fact they described the series as a SERIOUS comedy, meaning the world takes itself very seriously, but the world is very ridiculous and absurd.
The trailer should be made available on the 6th.
Looking to upgrade to park bench. You mean it's like Axe Cop only bloodier and more anime-ish?
Sounds like it.
Watch SymphogearI guess this is the teaser from Anime Expo:
This looks ridiculous.
I'm sold.
i. hear. a. sound. That actually looks really awesome. Trigger looks to be the perfect studio to do this too.
Wasn't the concept for this in the first place a Japanese take on how a Westerner expects Ninja culture to be? I mean, just read some of the character profiles.
We have character profiles?
It's a novel series first, so yeah, there are profiles.
Eight books are out so far, but what's interesting about this is, unlike stuff like SAO or Log Horizon, which originated on the author's own sites before being published, this all started via tweets on Twitter. Only in Japan indeed.

...Could you provide links to the profiles, then?
I mean come on, just read this:
Arson
Affiliation:Soukai Syndicate
His very name hints to his Katon-jitsu or inferno style technique, a pyrokinesis punch that burns opponents to death via the supernatural phenomenon of spontaneous combustion. With his formidable jitsu and karate, he overpowers villainous yakuza gangs causing a scene in the microcosmos of the underworld food chain. Despite reigning on the top of the absolute pyramid hierarchy of ninja, yakuza and ordinary citizens, to his sorrow, the fearful predator Ninja Slayer exists in a class by himself.

That's... certainly something. I think the manga and novel translations on the site are probably more useful for getting a feel of what it'll be like, though
I think I went cross-eyed at the first chapter alone.
I can totally see how this could have started out as gimmick tweets though!
Dude, Cloud Buster looks so Space Marine.

Working on a manga. With pictures! All feedback welcome!Something interesting about this is that it has a very late 80s/early 90s feel. Cyberpunk! Organized crime! Metal-influenced visuals! Embarrassing fixation on Japan! I'm just not sure if it was intentional
I'm quite sure its entirely intentional. It's a Japanese parody of what Americans think Ninja culture is all about. Oh look I've gone cross-eyed again...
Which in essence, makes it perfect for Studio Trigger to adapt.

I can see it doing well too.
Plus, It comes across something like Triggers own Inferno Cop or Axe Cop, in that it's a comedy that takes itself seriously, but is so funny because of how it takes such ridiculous shit seriously.
Watch SymphogearMy point was that it's a surprisingly accurate parody... of twenty years ago. Something based on modern portrayals would be a lot different
Which kind of worries me, since I find those things hard to take in large doses (like, say, a 24 minute episode)
looks like a mixture of Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear Rising & Kill Bill, & seems very over the top. Surely watching this.
Ninja Slayer is clearly riffing on Japanese stereotypes about the Saitama prefecture (which is apparantly the New Jersey to Tokyo's New York), so not all the jokes are at the expense of Hollywood ninjas. I doubt most Americans have even heard of Saitama, and I only know about it because someone on Animenewsnetwork's forums explained the joke.
So after Kill-La-Kill, what are the odds on no ninjas being slain in Ninja Slayer?
What's precedent ever done for us?
Surprised there's no thread yet
"Ninja Slayer: Karate Pistol Fist Suicide, the last volume of "Bradley Bond and Philip Ninj@ Morzez'"s Japanese take on the American take on Japanese sci-fi and martials light novel series revealed that Trigger (Kill La Kill, Little Witch Academia... and Inferno Cop!) is attached to the over the top action's upcoming adaptation."
