Looks cool and we get to see the threat of Apocalypse and his four horsemen. The special effects look good.

This is the most unimpressive trailer I've ever seen.

Like, there's nothing in this movie trailer that I haven't seen in any other trailer.

SO much exposition.

Nitpick: There feels like there's a big appearance discrepancy between who's playing Jean in this film and Famke Janssen. Like, the former doesn't really look she's going to become the latter when she gets older.

That's not really Sophie Turner's fault though.

Her Jean Grey was one of the few things that I actually liked about the trailer.

To be fair, would anyone look like Famke Janssen as a teenager?

I think it's at least partially wrong to blame Bryan Singer for the movies getting bigger. I think there's a general problem that adaptations must have more action and spectacle than the source material. Look at the The Hobbit or even James Bond series. Even though some people complained that Casino Royale (2006) had too little action or too little spectacle, it still had it more than the novel, which really doesn't paint James Bond as a badass.

Just saw the trailer. Overall, seems fairly promising, buuuuut I have one issue.

I am sorry if I sound like a religious integrist for saying this, but... well, I kinda feel uncomfortable with this trailer implying the Bible was based on Apocalypse and he was Yahweh. I know, it's just a movie, but what can I say, God Is Evil and Religion Is Wrong are tropes I personally can't stand. With some luck, I am just being paranoid.

Well, good thing he's not just Yahweh, but also Krishna and Ra. Probably a few more gods not mentioned in his monologue.

I fail to see how that makes it any better. Yahweh just affects me personally because I am a Christian. The Krishna bit is likely to bother Hindu watchers the same way. As for Ra, well... I don't think there are still people who believe in Egyptian mythology, but who knows^^'

Oh boy, the religious nuts are going to have a field day with this film.

My point exactly. Personally it just bothers me a little (I will probably still go see the movie and enjoy it), but there are people who are likely to have much more pissed off reactions.

Art. Is. Offensive. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I don't share this belief.

It's not a belief? It's pretty much a fact. There is art that is offensive. Some art will offend, if not you then someone else. Whether it's The Golden Compass portraying God is a withered old man who dies from falling to Planetary portraying God is an ancient giant alien who created the Earth and now wants to wipe out life because, hey, we're dust motes compared to it.

Personally, I would be less offended by Apocalypse simply because nobody actually says that En Sabah Nur is Yahweh. He just inspired bits of the Bible, like the Four Horsemen which are from a book (The Book of Revelation) which is so goddamn weird anyway, it could be interpreted to be anything.

It's dangerous to just toss "Art is offensive" out as the ultimate safety net. While at the same time, something like the Bible had been edited by humanity since forever and Revelations wasn't even put to paper till long after Jesus' death, it could easily have been that John of Patmos was writing about Apocalypse and normal humans merged it with the rest of the book because it sounded cool and fit well with Jesus being the Savior.

While I do agree about art often having capacity to offend, I wouldn't quite say that being offensive is an absolutely essential part of art.

I mean, everything can be offensive to the right person. Hell, Teletubbies were offensive to people who saw the purple one (pink one?) as gay.

"It's not a belief? It's pretty much a fact. There is art that is offensive. Some art will offend, if not you then someone else."

I do agree art can be offensive, I just don't think it has to always be offensive. Also, for the record, I didn't like the Golden Compass. I am fine with people criticizing religion as a whole (I mean, there have been some big screw-up), but in this case it came up as one-dimensional and mean-spirited in my opinion. But I digress; Sorry.

Fair point. I am probably overthinking it.

"It's dangerous to just toss "Art is offensive" out as the ultimate safety net."

Exactly.

"I mean, everything can be offensive to the right person. Hell, Teletubbies were offensive to people who saw the purple one (pink one?) as gay."

I also heard people say it was offensive to intelligence and good taste, but I am not sure these people were serious :p

Sophie Turner's American accent sounds.....forced a little. But it's probably because I've heard her talk as Sansa for so long.

One correction: Apocalypse doesn't say "Ra and Krishna", he says " Ram and Krishna". See, Ram is another important figure/god in Hinduism.

Really? I swore he said Ra. And it would have made more sense, seeing how he is, you know, from Ancient Egypt.

On a note, am I the only one who feels he really looks like MCU Ronan the Accuser?

I'm 90% certain it's Ra. If it's Ram then he doesn't emphasize the m enough.

I like the fact that Yahweh just gets treated like any other random god. There's never enough of that in speculative fiction.
