Recently, a few people had been needlessly bumping this an old died out attempt to draft a potential split of this page, as if they want it to happen.

The previous Trope Repair Shop thread, https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=1308428739066140100 , with the very last post, incidentally, dating two years ago. Some people tried debating about what Animesque actually is, like "is it an artstyle that closely resembles the typical anime?" or "is it a piece of work that's influenced by anime or has anime-like elements". In the end, the thread died out without consensus, and was even locked without a clock.

I'm making a new thread to be safe, as apparently, some people want the split proposed in that old YKTTW trope to succeed, if two of them started bumping them recently, and I don't want to motion to discard just yet until we genuinely decide on what to do with this trope.

I made the change. Looks like the original text was an attempt to redefine a perfectly cromulent word.

I think a little too much got cut. Mind if I change it to:

Things that are done in an art style similar to Japanese anime. Also called anime-influenced animation, Amerime or Americanime (if it's American), Franime (for French things), or faux-anime, animesque works come from a variety of sources. Some are simply non-Japanese creators deciding to mimic the style, while others are genuine co-productions. France and Canada are especially known for cooperating with Japanese producers in this way.

Interestingly, this is a case of a 'full-circle' evolution, as the Japanese anime style was inspired by classical American theatrical animation of the 1930s and 1940s (for example, the big eyes of anime characters were taken straight from Bambi, or the old Fleischer shorts, such as Betty Boop).

Also, the Animation — Asia folder should be re-added.

A long bump, but that seems an improvement, given that such terms are synonyms to the trope name.

Swapped it in, and re-added the Asian animation folder.
