@Orion: I know you're joking about putting ketchup on steak, but I still want to reach through the internet and give you a Dope Slap. tongue

So in Salmon Run you're assigned a random weapon out of the basic four (akin to the demo arsenal) and switch between waves. Woe to me when I get the Charger. I wish we could pick which kind of weapon we would get for each category (I'd replace the Charger with a Splatling).

I have, however, discovered the ideal role for each weapon in the team.

Splattershot & Dualies: Generic strikes against common and boss enemies. Best at covering walls.

Roller: Focus on common enemies to keep them at bay. Cover as much ground as possible to provide movement range.

Charger: Focus on boss enemies, especially ones with weak points at the top.

Is it me, or do Off the Hook only have like one or two lines per stage? I only watched two news shows and already I've seen a repeat line, and that's not even counting the lines I saw during the previous release coming up in my game.

If it wern't for the fact that I beat single player already, I would have assumed that meant the Squid Sisters were gonna replace them. (Though I still think the Sisters are gonna do something in an update for spoilery reasons, It might not be that)

[up]If I remember right, Callie and Marie didn't have that much unique dialogue at the outset either. More got added later on along with new stages and such.

In other news, the Aerospray is still a beast at inking turf.

I decided to work through more single player.

The Hero Splatling is every bit the murdertrain I expected it to be.

I like the "online shopping". And the Grizzco "ads".

I feel these add something more to the game outside the game.

The "online shopping" in particular would honestly would not work, from an immersion standpoint, as an in-game feature.

Just tried Salmon run. So fun and so hectic! On my third run, it almost ended badly. I think I was the last one alive by the end.

Can I trash talk single player for once... I found a new annoying feature: invisible crates... [lol] what jerks hehe.

Speaking of that, I was playing level 6, jumped to a previous platform and unloaded a crate.[lol]

[up][up][up] Yeah, Salmon Run is a blast! Random-select weaponry works surprisingly well (even if I still don't like the Blaster). And I thought it was just limited to Splattershot/Charger/Roller/Dualies, I wasn't expecting Squelcher/Slosher/Blaster to be usable (though those first two were nice surprises). Hope it gets a bit more difficult though, I didn't have much trouble with the waves today.

Also, does anyone know when Salmon Run's weapons rotate out? I'd like to try taking a Charger to the Salmonids, or some Dualies.

So...I know sardinium helps upgrade the weapons in single-player, but I don't understand how...?

Like I collected all of them, but I never really noticed it being used when I upgraded my weapons. Just power eggs.

I've been leveling myself up on Turf War and playing a bit of the single player. I played a couple of rounds of Salmon Run and I'll have to check it out more later.

[up][up] Upgrading requires a certain amount of sardinium in addition to eggs. That's kinda it.

I noticed eggs are gating me way harder than sardinium though, so far.

Notice how after clearing a level with Shelodn's Request opens it up to be played with any other weapon.

I'm pretty sure the main way to "farm" eggs is going in and clearing the stages with all weapons.

No idea yet if it grants anything special or not.

It also keeps track of best times with each weapon, so hey, share those on twitter I guess?

I wish there were upgrades available for Salmon Run too. Too often I find myself running out of ink.

[up][up] Yeah, I don't like the Inkjet either... though in my case it's more due to not being able to hit anyone with the damn thing. And every time I see one on the enemy team, I'm just relieved that they're using something I can easily shoot down. Which probably isn't a good thing. On another note, I don't love Splashdown all that much either. It's just a tad too slow for me to be able to get kills with it, which is kind of annoying. And I never liked the Sting Ray. It just isn't for me (too weak). And I dunno how I should feel about Ink Armor. Probably because I only have it on the Splattershot Jr. Maybe I'll like it when I have a different weapon with it (preferably a Charger, I could see that being useful). On the other hand, Tenta-Missiles are awesome. Being able to target people from across the map is always nice. Can't wait for a Charger to get it.

In other news, the Inkbrush is coming back tonight at 7PM PST, according to the splatoonus tumblr, and it's got the Splat Bomb and Splashdown for its loadout. Thoughts?

I wonder if the pool of players for this game is full of people who never had a Wii U and are still getting used to the game mechanics somewhat. I'm clearly coming across some people who know what they're doing and are better than me, but I still feel like I'm dominating if not most of the time, then more often than I expected, despite me being pretty average at the first game. Guess I'll have to see how much of a wake up call the ranked battles are when I get there.

....Actually, scratch that. I just checked my record in the app and it turns out I'm exactly 20-20 in turf wars. Can't get more average than a .500 record. Still, I've won my last 5 matches in a row, and I feel like I'm generally the #1 or #2 scorer on my team even when we lose.

I manage to score well in Turf Wars myself on a regular basis (unless my enemies are really experienced and/or my teammates are ass), despite not playing in a long time. Nothing beats the old two-sticks guerilla warfare for me!
