I'd argue that tonally, Captain Rainbow was essentially Shifty Look as a game. So I'd definitely be okay with more of that. Having it localised this time would also be good.
...I wonder how much crazy parkour potential the game has with the swimming up painted walls mechanic.
I'd imagine this would be the first third person online shooter where Wall Jumping can be a thing.

Thought I should post this, since no one else has. Game Xplain always has something useful to add.
So, I stumbled across this...
This was uploaded in 2013.
Eh. Similar, but different enough.
Well, two different companies can stumble on some basic ideas without one knowing what the other is doing.
Nintendo uses paint as a movement tool and as a means of gaining territory, while this one doesn't. Not quite the same application.
Using paint to tag other team members could be its own mode, though.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo did know about that game, and I wouldn't hold it against them really either. Splatoon is not a direct rip off or anything (as opposed to say, Donkey Konga). The first game I thought of was Water Warfare, since we're on the topic.
That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastesThey're both totally different.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI don't see why it can't be both, the mechanics certainly lend themselves well to both genres.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaAnd I'm willing to bet there's a time-trial mode for all the super-slick paint-jumping acrobatics. Failing that, there's always spinoffs.
A shooter-platformer? But we already have Ratchet and Clank :P
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Nintendo already said it would have a single player campaign that will probably involve some platforming elements.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureThe Wii U has plenty of platformers right now. It does not have many solid third person shooters. For the sake of diversification and multiplayer goodness, I welcome its current direction.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences. There's already a paint based platformer on Nintendo consoles anyway. It's called De Blob.
The company that made it is dead now and that makes me sad.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI could see the single player campaign being a platformer shooter action adventure. The inkling's unique method of moving is already a great start to that.
Whatever the case will be, one better not divert the other part of being properly developed.
Could you believe that this almost didn't become a new IP?
Don't Press Your Luck too many times in life. You'll just get whammied. It's been known for awhile. It has to do with how Nintendo makes new games. First they come up with a concept, and then they attach it to an appropriate IP. For example, they'd be planning a space faring platformer where you travel between planets, and that became Super Mario Galaxy. Since Mario is really flexible, he gets put into a lot of things. Same with Kirby.
But not everything. Here they obviously decided there was no IP this fitted with. Sure they could just give Mario a Blooper power-up, but it wouldn't feel right. Thus, we got Inklings. This is why we don't get too many new IP's from Nintendo, but when we do it's different from anything else they have.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences. Some people though would argue that they should make new I Ps, rather than just using the same ones over and over again. What say you guys?
Yeah, I'm all for new stuff. Gotta add more possible Smash Bros. reps, after all.
"We're home, Chewie."
It's pretty rare to have a fanbase form mainly off the strength of the character design, so Nintendo definitely has a winner here.
