Got my copy of Estival Versus and, while the framerate drop really sucks at times, it looks much better than Shinovi Versus did, and gameplay differences between characters are more noticeable. It's kinda fun to play.

Vita. I don't have a PS 4 yet but I'm starting to really consider it now, just for future SK titles.

Or rather, I would consider one once I live alone. But yeah.

So I just watches the OVA. Hard to say what to think of it since it isn't yet subbed.

Also, NEETSWITHAXES (I can understand if Murasaki's hair blades are bit silly, but I would have liked if she had handheld versions of them instead of a giant axe).

Oh well, enjoy Renka's awesome theme.

The OVA's budget was a bag of chips and some peanuts, corners had to be cut.

All in all, I don't know what to think about Takaki and where he could take the series next. I mean, see what it comes from Valkyries Drive

http://gematsu.com/2015/03/valkyrie-drive-bhikkhuni-gameplay-and-characters-detailed

Takaki talks about how they've designed the chars down to the detail of the girls' nipples/areola colour/shape. He isn't able to show them on TV, but he wants to explore a new way of doing it because just obscuring them is dull.

He likes girls' nipples rubbing and pressing on each other a lot, so he is really enthusiastic to work on this project.

One time when he was talking to his scenario writer, it clicked with him that the setting of girls turning into weapons when they are aroused (by other girls) is fantastic because it gives the girls a reason to do it and adds drama.

Oh and the Senran costumes for DOA are FANTASTIC. I just can't get enough of wrecking fools with Racheldouji.

Takaki should get a great developer and totally fund a fighting spin off.

Estival sells more than 100k copies.

I...I do not know how to feel about that

Dynasty Warriors style beat'em ups make bank in japan and well Boobs.

DW IIRC gets 200k sales per main series entry for their opening week.

[up]x3 I totally agree you on the fighting game spin-off. That, and one what would give us focus on Daidouji and Rin (really, I want to learn more about their background).

[up]A game focus on Rin and Dai would be all kinds of awesome but giving how things are going is more likely we'll get a spinoff focused on the twins.

I just hope the 3DS series gets continued somehow.

[up] You know how much I want to believe? Like, I don't care if Musasame was stuck as a girl, I want to play as him. Couldn't you be able to unlock him in Deep Crimson if you had beaten Burst? If so, how does it work?

Also, apparently EV has a "bug" (quotation marks because you know) what allows you to remove character's underwear completely. No features down there and you cannot make breasts bare, but you know.

[down] I was joking on the second part. It is probably just a bug, and I admit it.

Deep Crimson looks at your SD card and if finds a Burst save it unlocks Murasame since the beginning, otherwise you have to buy him (likely only the code to unlock him) on the Nintendo E Shop.

I dunno, EV has plagued with bugs so is feasible it was an honest mistake.

And it turns out that EV didn't sold more than 100k

[PSV] Senran Kagura: Estival Versus (Marvelous, 03/26/15) – 44,548 (New)

[PS 4] Senran Kagura: Estival Versus (Marvelous, 03/26/15) – 30,247 (New)

http://gematsu.com/2015/04/media-create-sales-32315-32915#sYSOFj91s2tLGJgd.99

Since SK 2 still sold slightly more than any individual version of EV, I think there's a decent chance of seeing the series on 3DS again after all.

Back after taking a hiatus from the forums. Checking in on this thread since I'm planning on getting DOA 5 (on Steam) soon and saw that they're incorporating SK DLC into the game. Piqued my interest a bit. And I'm gonna have to get me [up]that book eventually.

I looked through the pages I miss and checked most links/postsnote  (might have missed a few... and I ignored the videos for now; don't have the time at the moment, so I put 'em on "Watch Later"), really liking what I'm hearing about SK 2. It's a shame that EV doesn't seem to take very much from it, but weren't both of these games being developed almost simultaneously? If they were, then it makes a bit of sense that EV didn't progress the gameplay from its predecessor as much compared to how SK 2 developed from Burst (which I still haven't beat yet).

Either way, I'd probably still enjoy it. I've been on a sort of Warriors kick since playing Hyrule Warriors, Pirate Warriors, and Dynasty Warriors 8 recently.

I've heard the OVA that came with EV included nudity. The Queen's Blade comparisons are going to be more apt now, I suppose. Animation quality (which I hear is... bad?) is all I care about since it seems to be non-canon anyway.

Also, I saw a link for pre-ordering the localized SK 2, but is that site for Europe only? I can't seem to find a US equivalent (or I'm just missing something and that site works for both countries)...

[up][up]Seems unlikely, Bloodborne got the first spot on digital selling 10% of the units sold physically while Disgaea 5 got second place and we all know how it sold.

Well, I finally finished SK 2. AWESOME game, easily the best game on the series.

It runs smooth as buter and graphically is one of the best looking games available on the 3DS, the camera is only a hidrance before you learn to use the homing kunai, once you do you will never be victim of cheap shots by off screen foes.

Difficuly is perfect, not too hard but not too easy either. Every boss has different propierties and different tactics, Mirai for example is a pain in the ass because she always break free of your combos while Ikaruga doesn't

The only truly hard boss is Dougen and that because he's more of a skill gate, you need to learn the game system and to read the enemies moves to win.

The tweaked moveset for every character makes for a more robust game that offers tons of combinations to try and master while the Tag team is a fantastic addition that I hope is polished down the line since it adds a fantastic hook to the series that along being fun as hell it could be what the series to stand out.

Can't comment a lot on the story but at least the use of cutscenes, fantastic soundtrack and top notch voice acting made it a memorable experience

The final cutscene made me wonder if they would put a definitive sign of Versus and SK 2 being separate storylines though.

The game also boasts of having the most content with a CG/Cutscene/Voice/music/story galleries, enemy compendium, a blood palace-like extra mode and extra missions with different goals (like no damage, die on one hit, survive the timer). The game's longevity is considerable, making it a worthy purchase.

I really can't wait for the american release.

Oh and Daidouji keeps being AWESOME

so, according to one board. This conversation

http://imgur.com/oM3H97U

You also exist in a number of different worlds. If there is a world where you took your own lives after being defeated by the Hanzou girls, there is also a world where you rebuilt Hebijo Academy

Confirms the existence of parallel worlds on the Senran Kagura universe

Definitive evidence of the 3DS games and PS games being separate stories?

Anyways, I spent a few hours playing with Daidouji on SK 2 and in my opinion she's the BEST character on the game. While she got a noticeable boost on speed, she benefits the most from the homing kunai -In fact the homing kunai is such a great addition to the series that it should be implemented on every game. With a good rhythm you can go from enemy to enemy without being hurt and racking some massive combos.

Dai's attacks also have a good Ao E making easy to deal with multiple enemies at once and she also got a huge boost to her air game. But the most important tool she owns is her stance, it gives her super armor so enemies can't interrupt your combos or stun you and is invaluable against bosses. Interestingly, is mostly useless against the Youma bosses due being faster and normal ninpos being more valuable to avoid attacks thus creating an interesting balance.

The stance also gives some neat modifiers to her attacks (mainly by making most of them chargeable) opening a whole new set of options to use. Her ninpos are hard to aim but that I believe is a design choice to balance them, their recovery time is long so whiffing leaves you extremely vulnerable but are AMAZING as combo finishers.

Her stats are also monstrous (at level 3 she has better stats than a level 15 Asuka) and you can gain levels fast enough by revisiting stages. I ended with a Level 20 Dai after redoing the first chapter, for example.

Really, really pleased with the changes at Dai.

I have to be fair though, I found a bug with her. Trying to change her outfit on the dressing room makes the game get stuck on the loading screen after leaving the Dressing room.

In any case, I'm really, REALLY hyped for this game. August can't get fast enough.

Oh and it has hype as hell music
