People at Asuki have called it a fake, and point to the weird detailing compared to the background of the crashed Deucalion.

I've seen a lot of fanart of Inaho with a scar around his left eye that looks exactly the same alongside a discolored eye. Is there something I missed?

He got shot in the head and people hope he survived. I liked Ihano the emotionless bastard. I do want to see him alive and Ok. With new character development at least.

I mean the same exact scar. Is it just people copying other people's fan arts or was there an official art released?

@High Velocity, there are two things that outright confirm Cruhteo's death.

1.) Saazbaum's plasma sword hit the floor Cruhteo was standing on like a giant flyswatter, to the point of leaving a smoking hole where the floor used to be, several levels down, and the show specifically AVOIDS the "Convection Schmonvection" trope every chance it gets.

2.) Just in case you're thinking that Cruhteo's the 6 million dollar man and can go from 0 to 60 in 0.8 seconds and dodge that plasma sword so fast, he disappears from the scene entirely, episode 12 confirms that Crutheo's Kataphract is shut down because Slaine activates it. (To everyone's surprise including his own.)And as confirmed by Eldurrito in episode 10, and the princess in episode 11, no one can de-activate the Aldnoah of the authorized operator while the operator is alive without his/her permission EXCEPT the royal bloodline, and the princess was most specifically NOT on Castle Saazbaum until the mission to shut down the castle's Aldnoah drive.

Surviving a shot to the head is not unheard of, but Inaho WILL need substantial physical and psychological therapy to recover just like Gisselle Gifford did, and even then the recovery may never be complete.

Going frame-by-frame, you can also see Cruhteo's silhouette dissolve in the Dioscura's plasma blade.

Looking at the actual image I'm not too sure that Inaho's is set in the present. Its kinda weird everyone else's promo is set in the future but Inaho's is the only one set in the past, and even then there are things that are off.

@harem-author, Iaculus

  1. Taking perspective into account, the blade appears to strike to Cruhteo's side (in front of him from the audience's perspective). The camera in mecha also tends to linger on the real death of an important character even when they would normally be instantly vaporized - it's not something you normally need to go frame-by-frame in order to see.

  2. The show established that Aldnoah drives shut down when a character "dies" - Asseylum needed to personally re-activate the drive of the Deucalion. There's also the strong possibility that Slaine is simply special: His father was pointedly an Aldnoah researcher, a good friend or ally of Saazbaum, and Saazbaum clearly had some reason to believe that Slaine could activate the Tharsis even though he never received Aldnoah rights from the emperor.

I'm not saying that Cruhteo survived, but they've plainly left enough ambiguity there that he could plausibly return.

[up] Slaine getting Aldnoah rights from Asseylum is probably the simplest. (Since this is anime....probably when she kissed him)

Speaking of Asseylum....she's died what...3 times now and been fine? The only way someone is dead permentnatly in this is after the finale episode and low sales figures come in. [lol]

[up] Indeed. It's basically the whole reason the Troyards even came to Mars in the first place.

The problem with theory that Slaine got Aldnoah privileges from Asseylum is that, you'd think she would be upfront about that.

Also, are the M-Knights 'Knights' because they have Aldnoah privileges or were they Knights before they got Aldnoah.

[up]Other way around, they were knights that were given privileges. The only character who seemed to know that Slaine had activation rights was Saazbaum, who gave Slaine tharis, which is probably why the knights were a-okay with killing Asseylum, they knew that she could be replaced.

Someone was kind enough to translate the official summarize for A.Z

After Regalia declared Vers an independent country (because UN refused to send help to the project colonists after many requests and it was their fucking project and were basically left to survive as they could), Earth got massive butthurt and they cut the supply lines and communication while Ray didn't want to.

Who knows how many were starved to death by that action. The generation of knights who grew to hate them suffered this childhood. They attacking and targeting the supplies again isn't new.

But that'll just keep the cycle of war and hostility. I think Slaine has realized this.

UEF cut the communication and any attempt of negotiation: supplies, diplomacy, when Vers declared itself independent. They refused to see it as its own country. Meanwhile Rayregalia actually was open to dialog and to negotiate. This information was removed from the official UEF timeline, they lied and said it was Ray who called anti Terran sentiments and distanced himself to make themselves look good.

The practice of isolating Mars and hogging the supplies isn't new. That's why Sauce calls them greedy. I know /a/ jokes about muh chickens, but they don't really have much air or water supplies, let alone food.

It was explained in supplemental material (War is Coming: much like everything else in AZ, the best stuff is outside the show). I hope second cour addresses this if they are back in targeting supplies.

There was a timeline posted, it should be in the archive somewhere. There's two version, one that is cleaned up by the UEF and the real one. The UEF has a lot of skeletons in their closet, I really wouldn't be surprised if they blew up the gate.

In other words the UEF lied about the origin of the conflict with Vers to make themselves look good. It also seems as though the UEF will be attacking Mars civilian ships.

How? The only place the UEF still occupies is UEF HQ in Russia, and all their missiles got blown to hell by Saazbaum's landing castle. The Deucalion is grounded, perhaps unable to ever fly again, and the freaking TRANSPORTS can handily curbstomp entire wings of F-22s.

Now. It's possible UEF Kataphracts may fire on "civilian" Vers ships, but considering that every transport shown to date has been carrying soldiers, AND, has openly fired on civilians. (Not to mention the Vers official "Kill everything that moves" policy among the "knights") and it would be perfectly justifiable to keep supplies away from the same people who think it's A-Ok to slap Terrans around simply because they ARE Terrans, and therefore inferior.

Now if Slaine and Inaho meet again, I could easily see it going like this.

Slaine:"Stay away from the Princess, Orange, she's my princess, MINE! I WILL BE THE ONE PROTECTING HER!"

Inaho: "Yes, I was there when you 'protected her' last time. You stopped me from defeating the guy who wanted to murder her, putting her right in the crosshairs, WERE ACTUALLY SHOCKED when he opened fire, failed to kill him, and then, when you saw a guy who you KNEW had a vested interest in keeping her alive approach her, to provide the medical care she CRITICALLY needed to have any chance of survival, that's the one you challenge, provoke, and ultimately execute. Does that seem 'protective' to you, Bat?"

Slaine: "You shot me down, and I HAD TO ENDURE HOURS OF TORTURE TO KEEP THE PRINCESS SAFE!"

Inaho: "Which could have been easily avoided if you had bothered to simply identify yourself when asked instead of shooting me when I refused to let someone in a ship belonging to the people who have tried to kill her numerous times simply go to her only because he demanded it without identification or explanation."

Slaine: "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! I KILL YOU! I KILL YOU ALL!"

Princess Asseylum: "Stop this please! You're both Terrans! We can work this out!"

Slaine: <SCREAMS> "EVERYONE SHUT UP! THE PRINCESS IS COMING WITH ME! WE WILL NEVER BE SEPARATED AGAIN!"

Princess: "I see. So that's what you really think of me."

Slaine: (Meekly) "Princess." "Hime-sama"

Princess: (Points gun at Slaine) "I'm sorry. Perhaps this will help you too." (Shoots him in the head.)

I'm having a hard time imagining how they're going to make Slaine amd Saazbaum all that sympathetic in the second cour given how they ended the first one. The best they can realistically do is grey on gray, but even that's going to be a challenge.

With regards to the Sky Carriers being able to solo entire squadrons of fighter jets, I attribute the first display (Trillram/Slaine) partly due to the Nilokeras, considering it's Barrier also spread to the Sky Carrier as well. We also see that regular weaponry can take down the Sky Carriers

[up][up]

I agree wholeheartedly. According to the official alternate history timeline, both the UEW version and the Martian addendum, it is very hard to feel sympathetic for the Martian people, as a whole.

First, at no point in the historical timeline were people shown being COMPELLED to immigrate to Mars. They went there willingly. We're not talking about booking a trip to Hawaii. We're talking MARS, which even in the 70s anyone who opened an astronomy book would know is a very inhospitable place. If those people didn't know what they were getting into, it's their own damned fault for not doing the most simple of research. Expecting someone to come along and hold their hand is just ridiculous.

Second, Rayregalia is the one who fomented violence against Earth, repeatedly, before becoming Emperor. No matter how valid your complaint is, it immediately loses substance and support when you start hurting people and breaking things.

Third, the people of Mars, either actively or by indifference, CHOSE the feudal system that they're currently stuck with and all its flaws.

Fourth, the Vers invasion 15 years prior to the start of the series is what caused the moon gate to explode, either directly because Gilzeria tried to move too much Aldnoah through at once, indirectly because the Terrans were trying to stop him, or a combination of the two.

Fifth, the genocidal actions of the Orbital Knights, as a result of the war orchestrated by Saazbaum, will do NOTHING to help the people "back home" either short term or long term because by Saazbaum's own admission, the Martians know nothing about agriculture, fishing, hunting, or animal husbandry, and won't stop the Orbital knights, including Saazbaum, from keeping the good stuff to themselves, and sending the leftovers to Mars, if they feel generous.

Sixth, while the Princess's idea of a goodwill tour was a good one, sending her to Earth, alone, without even a single proper bodyguard is beyond stupid. At least the Martians had the good sense to use a body-double during the parade, but really, not a single M-kat accompanying her is too much, and how did the sleeper cell think that killing the crown princess was going to end well for them?

I was speaking specifically about Slaine and Saazbaum. I think it's still easily possible to make the Martians as a whole sympathetic: Hell, the few Martians we've seen who weren't directly involved in or influenced by the conspiracy definitely were. The issue is that they (the innocent martians) have gotten close to zero screen-time or focus.

Slaine, Saazbaum and the rest of the conspiracy have a far harder road to follow however. Active conspiracy to commit genocide against the good guys is incredibly difficult to redeem, and willful idiocy is almost as hard. I don't see how pointing out that both Slaine and Saazbaum have had rough lives is going to be anywhere near enough to redeem them, yet that's about the only thing in their favor at the moment.
