I do love how candid Saazbaum was with Slaine, assuming he isn't lying through his teeth. If he's telling the truth, it makes his motivations understandable, but still dastardly.
Ditto with finally revealing the cause of Marito's trauma. Euthanizing your best buds can't be good for your psyche, for sure.
But yeah, Rayet's stunt in the end overshadowed EVERYTHING so far. "So you think you have this high tech battleship to help you now? Behold, your massive paperweight!"

"Unimaginable luxury to the people of Vers, who subsist on chlorella and krill."
But seriously, that's actually pretty rough.

So... is the princess really dead?!

Also, i doubt it. When a body goes limp like that it's just loss of consciousness, it takes longer than that to kill someone. Having said that Rayet did it mostly because the princess' "oh everythings fine and dandy" attitude was pissing her off and a certain innocently insensitive instructor reignited some emotional trauma reinforcing the issues she's been struggling with so far.
I would assume that she's at least injured rather than just unconscious. Not like Aldnoah Drives switch off every time a royal goes to sleep.
What's precedent ever done for us?.....
Bah. Just bah. If they want me to hate her, they've succeeded already.
Just expose her and kill her off already. It would probably be merciful at this point.
One Strip! One Strip!, Strangulation is alot faster on television for obvious reasons. Someone mentioned sleeping already. I suppose you could say her hear stopped and she got resuscitated in time, but it seems odd that such a thing happen under the circumstances
I'll give Saucebum some credit: At least he's taking revenge on both sides.
And yes, it really, really sucks to be Slaine. It would be hilarious if Inaho turned out to have a crush on Eddelritto
Ehhh, bulk of the episode was pretty dull. Also Inaho makes no sense as having a harem
Saazbaum scenes were pretty good, though his actions don't make sense
Twist ending for the sake of a twist ending. I really doubt the princess is dead
Asseylum's Seiyuu posted on twitter that the princess isn't dead
She could always be lying.
i. hear. a. sound.
It's highly unlikely that they'd kill off one of the supposedly three main characters so early into the show while they have so little development. Also, the Terrans are basically screwed without her. It does lend some credence to the belief that everybody's favorite loyalist count survived, though.
I can understand why girls might like Inaho, especially after he started kicking ass in his trainer. Competence is something of an aphrodisiac, especially when it's the only thing standing between you and near-certain death.
Good things to come out of this episode: Based Sassybum being the best villain ever, delicious naked Rayet and hime-sama shower scene
Bad things to come out of this episode: Slaine Pain Train, Yuki-nee being a lot less perceptive than she claims to be when it comes to PTSD
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialWow, Saucybum is straight up, no hiding evil motives or anything, he just straight up said what was up and calmly went about his shit. We need more villains like that.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.If Inaho gets a harem, I'm fucking done.
Look guys, I'm on cloud nine O_O
RIP Akira Toriyama, taken from us far too soon.Like Seylum I can understand because of the time they've spent together, why Inko? I think it'll just be a gag and nothing more, but still.
You guys think Rey might've been being controlled? She had the whole Mind-Control Eyes thing a bit, and she didn't seem aware of her actions judging her reaction after it was over.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Mind control would be... well I guess it's not quite outside the realm of possibilities, given that Aldnoah is basically "make sci-fi things happen" phlebotinum, but it'd be cheating her character, I think. I'm guessing the mind control eyes were meant to show she "snapped". Just a moment where she was so overwhelmed with anger at the princess and at herself, and probably at the evil Martian dude who killed her dad (lol who even remembers his name), that she lost control.
She and Slaine are easily the best characters on the show. Marito is kind of a super by-the-numbers tortured war vet.
Apparently Urobuchi didn't come up with Inaho, which makes sense - as I said before, Urobuchi tends to associate emotionlessness with inhumanity and nihilism. I guess he didn't come up with any of the characters, which is kind of bizarre - he came up with the setting and plot but none of the characters? Maybe he just wrote like, the very original drafts, came back to find them rewritten and worked with it to write the first three episodes.
Nifty piano cover:

I'm assuming Yuki-nee is actually just an epically bad judge of character. She just THINKS she knows what he's thinking and he never bothered to correct her.
Yeah. Sauzbaum stating his motive flat out threw me for a bit of a loop.
I mean, I thought he'd take advantage of the fact that Slaine was still unsure who he could trust (and didn't hear Cruteho admit he was wrong) to claim that he was one of the good guys. Instead, he came right out and said what he'd done and made things clear.
I didn't expect that.
One Strip! One Strip!Seriously, Urobuchi really seems to have it out for these self-righteous Heroic Wannabe characters. First Saber, then Sayaka, and now Slaine.
Wonder what he finds so detestable about them?
Saber was a hero though.
She was doing a good job of leading her kingdom, it's just that the demands people made were way too much.
Hell, I recall a discussion about some lines from Apocrypha where Mordred was apparently talking about why she rebelled, and it was said that the people told her The king is too perfect.
And I was like What the fuck?
Hell, she wouldn't have had any problem with Lancelot and Guinevere doing the kinky tango if they hadn't decided to go behind her back and get caught like they did (she would have helped).
She's hardly a Wannabe.
Sayaka is a Wannabe, but she literally had everything bad that can happen to a Magical Girl happen to her all at once, and for what? Making the same bad choice that every other character made?
As for Slaine, what has he done to deserve the shit he's gotten? He just wants to repay the Princess for her kindness, but the plot seems to want it's pound of flesh first.

One Strip! One Strip!Oh what the heck. Why is this happening?
Yeeeeeep. Gen's vendetta against Heroic Wannabes would make more sense if he actually spent the time showing us why real life heroes would either be called crazy people or flat out sociopaths. Or how they can sometimes be irrational, narrow-minded, or neglectful of the consequences of their actions (see Shinji in Rebuild 2.22)
But nope. Heroes are bad because they dared to try and be something better than the rest of us and deep down they're all just laughing at us because they think they're so superior because of all their good deeds. Nice profiling, Gen. Kinda makes me wonder if it ever occurred to him that some people do good things with no conscious ulterior motives just because Good Feels Good. Or because, you know, they grasp basic human empathy

Sayaka didn't have everything bad that could happen to a Magical Girl happen to her all at once. for it to be truly everything , she should have been raped and impregnated by a tentacle monster to the point of mindbreak. also, that violin-playing dude she made the wish for should have also raped her (either on an illusion or in reality).
