but that be accepting that the characters are living entities independent of Shepard's input to a degree.

I mean such a notion seems to actually offend some players that they are indeed put off that the VS doesn't drop everything to be with Shepard again!

[up][up] Then they should yell at themselves, not Shepard. It's perfectly fair to second guess yourself, it's not fair to talk shit to Shepard like she made this decision without their input or knowledge.

EDIT:

I just watched the Bad Ending in ME 2 for the first time. It's so hilariously dark, I can't even find it sad. It's just like, you'd have to be purposefully doing this to yourself.

Also I appreciate that in this Alternante Universe the Reaper fight is taken up by Commander Joker.

Everyone does agree on that giving base to Cerberus is horrible idea, but its not like you have choice of giving base to someone else tongue

I never gave the base to TIM, even when playing as reneaged. Because everytime, I am reminded of their experiments in 1, what with trying to control Rachni, Husks, Thorian Creepers and Thresher Maws - and failing horribly, every time. So I was like "yeah, handing him the base will totally end well, no reason to doubt that. Give me the detonator, Mordin".

I always give the base to the Illusive Man, even on Paragon characters. Only way I can make sense of Mass Effect 3's Cerberus.

Even if I play Renegade, Harper leads me into a fucking trap so I blow the base and tell him to eat my chode.

I'm quite confident in my shitposting you know

I never thought TIM intended to use the Base to control anything. I figured it would just offer super upgrades for weapons, the identification of weaknesses, etc..

Of course it turns he was right and you can control the Reapers. Emphasis on "you" though.

[up]['up] That too. How the hell do they get the Human Reaper if you blow up the Base?

It just makes more sense to me for them to get the base.

Well yeah it makes more sense if your trying to rationalize Cerberus MASSIVE Militarization and the ability to go toe to toe with the Alliance even with the Reapers around. since giving them the base gives them whatever is left of The Collector's arsenal and access to the Massive ship graveyard.

My problem is the Numbers don't make sense... unless TIM was growing a clone army -and We know he has the tech-

Even with conscription of various civilian centers, Cerberus' sudden shift from commando style tactics to open military engagement would require you to notice a Sudden disappearance in populations but even then that would require time.

ME 2 probably should have hinted at Cerberus Stockpiling for the coming conflict though then it would have been TIM assuring you he is preparing to fight the reapers instead of playing patsy to them.

On matter of ME 3 not making sense, it doesn't make sense that you give base to Cerberus and then break up with them, but it doesn't either make sense that you didn't give the base because of Cerberus' massive power up in matter of scale tongue

So what we're saying is that ME 3 doesn't make sense.

Shocking.

Cerberus should have continued to be allies for ME 3. If we can ally with that lunatic from ME 1, why not them?

Or maybe there should have been a Cerberus Path to the story. Main story would be Destroy, Cerberus Path would be Control.

Yeah. Even some pre-release material for ME 3 said clearly that Cerberus had no resources left. They didn't have much after Shepard took off with the Normandy, took the Collector Base with him, and etc. By all means, Cerberus was on the brink of failure. Though, I can't remember EXACTLY what source this was from but it was one of the comics or novels though.

By ME 3, they're just back on top with no given explanation. Presumably, scripting issues from before are the cause.

I heard that book had rollerblading bank robbers.

It can't be all bad.

I never thought TIM intended to use the Base to control anything. I figured it would just offer super upgrades for weapons, the identification of weaknesses, etc..

In 1, Cerberus tried to control Rachni, to control Husks, to control Thorian Creepers, and to control Thresher Maws.

Not "experiment on", not "find weaknesses of", "control". In retrospect TIM's goals in 3 make perfect sense.

I never actually read it, so I have no idea.

If it is, it REALLY fucks with continuity since ME 3 went with that book's perspective on a ton of characters, like Kai Leng and etc. So it'd be strange for them to ignore what that book says about the state of Cerberus.

Nothing in 3 acknowledges any events from Deception. And Deception contradicts plenty of established lore, and was also really fucking stupid. So, yeah, it's best to pretend that book never happened. It's a book so bad Bio Ware apologized for it. There's no way it can be canon, so everyone just agreed that it wasn't.

That's the one that screws up on such basic lore elements as the Citadel orbiting a planet, right?

This is a summary of Deception's contents from my Kai Leng thread elsewhere:

"How bad Deception is cannot be overstated. I read it years ago and I still remember how painful it was. Batarians doing slave raids on the Turian Homeworld! Deadly elements/metals being used as bitcoins, Quarians giving someone a ship and letting PLAGUE VICTIMS on one of theirs, Council saying there was no Quarian government, biotic pride parades on Omega, Aria having no biotics, back alley biotic implant surgery, gay characters turned straight, roller blade bank robbers, Characters growing out of their autism, to name only a few."

Jesus, that sounds worse than I thought. The most I ever hears about Deception were all the Kai Leng memes.

I don't get it. MOST of the Mass Effect Universe finds the Asari attractive and want to bang them. We have memes about it.
