Yeah... I can honestly say, I didn't think that'd happen. Sure, I kept having the notion of it happening through the episode because of the way some lines were said. I thought it was just playing up the Ho Yay. I literally kept thinking 'I wonder if these two... Nah. I might be playing to the stereotypes, but I don't see them making him bi.

And then they did... Though, I have my suspicions based on whatever it was that he added to Mr. Chandler's drink. That whole conversation about perfumes 'making you feel certain things' right before screams to me that maybe the result was... less than natural.

As I pointed out to friends... and was quickly given a LOT of flack and hate for, I think it says something when lesbians are paraded through our media as fanservice and set dressing while gay males are hidden just off screen, only featured as far as the plot demands, and reserved for big plot twists. : /

Also, the pacing is still horrible. Stuff happens this episode... It doesn't feel like there's an arc. It also seems to go 'One episode of horror plot movements, one episode of character interaction, etc.' Good lord is that not very well structured. Additionally, I'm bored with the drama between characters. Oh! Poor Mr. Chandler! Brona left him and probably died in an Ally!... I don't care. Where's the horror?! This is a show marketed as a horror series like American Horror Story and trying to be a Penny Dreadful. Its appearing more as a Soap Opera at this point with supernatural elements...

Of course lesbians are used a lot while gays are kept down. The visual media are still overrun and dominated with straight male executives. They're not going to play to a crowd they still think of as marginal at best.

Considering Eva Green is in this, I was hoping it'd be a very good show. I'll just have to keep watching this thread to see if it's worth getting on DVD when it comes out. Or else waiting for my local library to get it, if they do. If it doesn't settle into a horror show, I'd say it's not worth it when you can just find screen captures of the fanservice.

I rather enjoy a break from the supernatural elements. It shows the characters aren't just going on and on about something and they have lives outside of work. Get too bogged down in the horror, and you end up having to top yourself each week and it starts to feel stale.

[up]Fair point, but I think it becomes an issue when your plot twists are PLOT TWIST! HE'S ACTUALLY INTO MEN! and not something to do with the more horror elements.

I like seeing them outside the context of the horrors they're facing, but I feel like we haven't established enough of what they ARE facing to really make me desire seeing them on a date night at the theater and etc.

Anyway, Tonight's episode was nice... But it felt odd after last week ended on sort of an odd point. Eva Green showed off her acting abilities for an entire hour and it was all well and good.

Ethan getting drunk and screwing Dorian was supposed to be a twist? I figured Dorian slipped something into the Absinthe or maybe Brona's rejection hit him harder than he thought and that plus the Absinthe just caused him to go "Fuck it all" and.....fuck it all.

Frozen FUCK IT ALL! FUCK IT ALL! DON'T GIVE A SHIT ANYMORE! FUCK IT ALL! FUCK IT ALL! FLIP THAT TABLE SCREW YOU ALL! -shot-

I feel like it was SUPPOSED to be the twist. Though, I did get the feeling Dorian slipped him something because there's NO WAY that conversation about perfumes making people feel and desire certain things WASN'T related. And if it IS something slipped into his drink, They better damn well play it as VERY VERY WRONG. Or face... Issues.

Edit: Damn it. How do you link to Movies on this thing?

The problem was the nature of the title. It's a one-word title, so you have to make it a wikiword with {{}} Though I'm not sure if that'll accept the song lyrics as part of the link. tongue

I had meant to have the lyrics be a link to Frozen, rather than the word Frozen awkwardly appearing before the lyrics.

Like I'm doing right now with these words right here in this very sentence.

I know that. I was saying that's how you make a one-word Pothole, but I said outright I wasn't sure if you could include the lyrics in the Pothole as blue text. tongue

I wonder there's an instruction manual anywhere. I wish I could say I'm used to it since I've been here for a few months now, but every website I go to has different codes and I get very confused.

So the portrait not only keeps Dorian young, but heals his wounds as well? Now I would really like to know what's in that hidden portrait that Dorian keeps, specifically to see just how messed up that picture of Mr. Gray is. At least I presume that's his picture, as the original story was not entitled "The Landscape Painting of Dorian Gray."

Though that would be interesting too; what was once a bucolic scene starts to turn more and more into a blasted wasteland as time goes on. Eventually it reaches its utter nadir, and we see the big reveal that it is, in fact, a picture of downtown Detroit.

Am I full of derp today? Flip a coin!

There's only two episodes left, which is a crying shame. Caliban is the worst. The cute actress acknowledges his existence, but belongs to another man so the rational thing to do is cry and then murder Van Helsing. Come on, man. I know he promised to murder everyone Frankenstein loved - not that Frankenstein loves anyone except maybe Sir Malcolm in a fatherly sort of way - but this was just awful.

[up][up]I hope we don't see it. It'd ruin the creepiness, I feel.

[up] It's not that she was taken, I think it was her reactions towards not even acknowledging Caliban.

Anyone else thinking that the master vampire taking Mina might be as a means to hurt Malcolm ? The vampires have an Egyptian origin and Malcolm has travelled in Africa and is talking about tracing the source of the Nile. He's talked about doing dark things on his voyages and of the blood his spilt.

Mina seems to be the only thing he cares about. What if the vampire took her to hurt him the most and is taunting him with her as revenge for something Malcolm did ?

Well Ethan's a werewolf. I was hoping he was gonna change when they were swarmed by vampires. Victor has finally proved himself to be more of a monster than Caliban. So next season means we'll get to see Billie Piper as the Bride? Man I hope she gets the Elsa Lanchester hair.

Why is he more of a monster than Caliban? That he wants to provide for his son?

[up] Look, I know he had to preemptively attack Rose before she fell in love with him - he's a Doctor, after all - but that was harsh. What happens if - or rather when - this new creation doesn't want to be in a relationship with Caliban? Also murdering and defiling the corpse of someone who one of your few friends cared about is extra dickish. He already saw from Proteus that his creations can develop residual memories. What happens if - probably when - Bronastein remembers Ethan? Kill him? Kill her again? I know every good father provides unwilling brides for his murderous abomination, but couldn't he have picked a stranger?

Blatantly murdering a total stranger is less evil than assisted suicide?

Oh. I guess that was poorly worded on my part. I meant that there have to be other corpses around London for him to plunder. I wouldn't suggest he contact Burke and Hare, but he's still living in the age of the resurrection men.

Burke was executed in 1829, so those two would be out of the question either way.tongue but, why the hassle when a viable corpse of an attractive woman is right at your feet?
