Well Admiral Briggs in BO 2 doesn't die in some of the plot paths. Then there's that One-Scene Wonder guy in LA Agent Samuels.

There's also Farid. He's a bit character but still.

People tend to whale on Call of Duty because it only has straight white male protagonists, but it isn't like the rest of the industry is very much different, by and large.

Why the special hate? Because their games are bad, because that... is true, actually.

Well the single players are thankfully somewhat unique but the multiplayer actually pretty much is just the same thing.

Citation Needed. Ramirez for instance is not implied or stated to be a "straight white male" protagonist.

That might be true if you are going on the World War Two games of old but since 4, there have been few if any WASP type protagonists.

Pretty sure the USMC protagonist in COD 4 was a black guy, if the cover of the game is an indicator.

Hell, a few women have been playable over the course of the series.

Well, there was a resistance member in one of the WW 2 CO Ds, and Chloe in BO 2, if you play the "Second Chance" mission, and I think there's a helicopter pilot in Ghosts.

Ehhh...? I have not ever seen anyone hate this game series over the single player protagonists' race. A good chunk of the dislike likely comes from the multiplayer part of the game never changing (Treyarch has tried to change it up a few times, what remains of Infinity Ward never tries, and Sledgehammer hopefully will make a attempt), and the rest is likely either immature Fandom Rivalries (with Battlefield, Titan Fall, Counter-Strike, and hell even Team Fortress 2 gets in on this), the immature fanbase, or bandwagon hatred, hell it can even be a combination of all four.

Another year, another world war.

I think it would really be something if all the wars in the recent Co D games happened with only a couple of years in between each one.

Yes even the ones that supposedly wreck entire metropolises in major countries.

Bah, I'll make this concept my own then. A world that endures 6 years of world war for every single year of cold war, and cities like New York are always fully rebuilt just in time for it be the target of the preemptive strike of the latest global conflict.

Well if this is a sequel series to the MW series (which I heard that it is, somewhere. Or something like that). the world's had about forty years. That's twice the length of time we got between our two world wars.

I don't know of any work that features a crapsack world that experiences extremely frequently world wars with only a three year intermission at best between the previous war and the next war.

But it would make the perfect setting for a modern military MMO.
