Necroing because of a classic CN promo. I've had this promo's audio on CD for years, but I never thought I'd find it on You Tube...
Heh, I remember that bumper. It used to be on a tape of recorded CN programming that I used to have. I remember thinking Dexter looked ridiculous with that hairdo.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Funnily enough, I own this one on CD... and on a very rare set of old CN promotional tapes.
Watching Cartoon Network back then indeed was like doing the can-can in Bora Bora whilst eating bonbons, though.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."It seems to me like CN wants Mighty Magiswords to be a some-day Adventure Time replacement as the "fantasy world" show.
It doesn't look appealing to me. Do any of you see potential in it, or is it looking like probable short runner to you guys too?
Looks good and its good for you!I still like it, but without the interactive gimmick of choosing the sword for them, then it's not as interesting as the app episodes.
"We be we baby!"The male character (don't know their names yet) seems a bit too hyper for my taste, but i'd need to see a full episode to be sure.
The brother is named Prohyas and the sister is Vambre. And no, they're both hyperactive.
"We be we baby!"x4 -I don't care if it turns out good enough to even suggest that. Mighty Magiswords will never replace Adventure Time in any meaningful way. Even if I end up liking it - Never, never, never!!!
New Web Browser, same old Shokew.I agree. And I dont even like Adventure Time, but I understand its importance.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I don't like Adventure Time either but ya I think it's impact on current CN is too great for it to just be up and replaced by a phone app based show.
Ya, I'm weird like that...What's inherently wrong with the show being phone app based, though? I think that's pretty interesting. Just because that's where it's based, it doesn't mean it's automatically inferior.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I'm sorry but that's not what I ment at all, I have never played it so I don't know if it was good or not. I was just saying that it would seem kinda gimmicky to have a show based on a phone app. I didn't say anything about it being inferior. Personally I don't care what CN airs anymore, the CN I knew and loved is long gone now.
This is why I left this place for so long, I was tired of people taking my posts the wrong way our out of context.
Ya, I'm weird like that...I mean. Maybe just try phrasing them more carefully or in a better explained way. No need to take someone arguing your point as a personal attack, not what I intended to do at all.
And I mean that's your prerogative if you don't like what they air now. To be honest, I like some of their current lineup even better than the stuff I watched on the channel as a kid, but that's just me.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Sorry, but I though I spoke clearly back there.
It's just that nothing on the channel does it for me, that's just my opinion. Can you respect that? I don't hate the new stuff, I just don't like it.
So, Odd 1 want to find a a show we both like to talk about?

Ya, I'm weird like that...Well, I loved Dexter's Laboratory, there's that.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I liked it too, have any favorite episodes?
Ya, I'm weird like that...I've always thought "Dexter and Computress Get Mandark" was a high water mark in American TV cartooning.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."The one with the mechanical parrot.
I liked where Dexter's Mom was rattling off a list of ingredients, and the parrot was contributing to it as it got more and more ridiculous until the parrot said "Worms and plastic minnows," and Mom realizes something, then says "wait a minute, just where am i going to get worms and plastic minnows?" and then the parrot spouts "the Florida Everglades" and she goes right off in her car. A beautiful bit of Bavarian Fire Drill.
Ya, that's a great episode!
Ya, I'm weird like that...Both those episodes are great.
I'd say mine is the one where Dexter goes to Japan as an exchange student and ends up having to help save a town from a monster. Plus it featured his sister, his parents, Monkey, and the Justice Friends all doing there part in defeating the monster.
I've always had a very soft spot for the Speed Racer parody. I liked pretty much all of the Monkey episodes as well, and thought it was a shame they were dropped from the show.
The Wrasslor one was particularly awesome.
The Speed Racer episode is hilarious, even though I probably didn't completely understand it when I was young.
I always liked the Monkey episodes because I love animals and I thought a small superhero monkey was cute. But I was a bit more partial to the Justice Friends for some reason.
Craig Mc Cracken once said "Mock 5" was the finest thing he ever wrote on the show, and honestly I'd have to agree.
I could have done without the Monkey shorts, but more Justice Friends would have been fine by me.
You ever notice that most CN shows of this time period eventually dropped their secondary shorts - the only one that survived the whole run of its parent show was I Am Weasel, and no wonder; it was the best of them all.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast.""Wrasslor" was indeed awesome. The most perfect use of Macho Man Randy Savage I've ever seen.
"Mock 5" was one of the first parodies of anime I'd ever seen, too, and it helped to crystalize a lot of anime tropes for me. There's another episode where Dexter is an exchange student in Japan and all the kids have their own giant robots (one of whom is dressed like a character from Gatchaman and the other like a character from another popular anime that I can't remember).

I just always found it super narmy whenever Mordecai would say that. Even if that is totally something that total hipster would say.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.
