Oh yeah the EU exit it's been trending on my Tumblr basically actually vote so Britain stays in young non-racist British people, sort of thing. Also Global (Canadian only news network Conservative-ish) covered it they were of the opinion that the anti-EU side man on the street should totally have the right to discuss how "the immigrants are taking are jobs (!)" but let a pro-EU Polish immigrant have the last word, make of that what you will.

The Brexit episode wasn't shown in the UK until tonight, after the polls had closed (it's usually on a Tuesday).

From what I understand, that was done on purpose.

I'm sure he'll have a follow-up next week given we went with the worst-case scenario and exited.

The decision also toppled the British PM.

Yeah I was hearing about that.

He might even bring up the fact most exiters under a certain age had to google what the E.U meant to Britain AFTER voting. Oh erm.

So John might go "What the Hell Britain? Do you realize what you have done? The UK is forever screwed!"

What's most striking about that topic is the obvious conclusion about what will happen if we don't bother trying to prevent doping, which is that sporting competitions will become a test of which country has the most effective performance-enhancing drugs — a proxy competition for pharmaceutical chemists, if you will.

So you're arguing that the system we have now isn't already that? The only difference with the current system is that the chemists are under exiting restrictions giving them a better chance to express their skill.

Well. One could observe that the nations that provide the notional support for the IADA and related organizations have perverse incentives to encourage it to overlook cheating, but ultimately the whole edifice is manmade, and if people are more interested in seeing records broken than fair competition...

Well is it about the skill of the athlete or how much a doctor can enhance said athlete, at which point the competitors are merely avatars of scientists trying to figure out the best way to dope people?

If we believe in the former, then we need to attempt to prevent cheating, even if we can't stop all of it.

Way I see it. there should be two leagues for major sports - one dope free, and one where it's anything goes.

I liked the subtle "July the 4th", and I find it really odd that I've never heard an American say "Independence Day", only "the 4th of July"
