I was actually not too bad at pencilwork.

I will be taking an art class this next semester in college so perhaps I'll put up some of the stuff I make

Ooh, art thread!

Well, I have a Deviant Art account. I've been a long time DA user, but only very recently I've started to create some works on my own.

Clearly, I have a loooooooong way to go. [lol]

So I really like drawing on index cards. Small enough to experiment with no pressure to fill a huge page, cheap enough to not feel bad if said experiments are fucked. Here's a tiny-ass John Constantine.

After three hours of working on proportions, I've decided I hate realism. For now. Here is something I drew as stress relief.

That looks nice!

If we disagree, that much, at least, we have in common

Leradny: Realism is hard. But if there's a better way to develop an eye for how things "should" look, I don't know what it is.

Oh man, art... been doing calligraphy off and on for years. Currently on a massive Insular Illumination kick. Spent a good part of yesterday mixing acrylic inks to make colors similar to those used in Insular manuscripts. (And made a mess, like always.) I suppose I could have just bought Yellow Ochre and Indigo, etc, but that would have meant buying a lot more bottles than just Process Cyan, Magenta, & Yellow.

Drawing, sketching... graphite or colored pencil... got myself a Wacom tablet a couple years back (the Bamboo, because I am poor) and I have a lot of fun with it. It came with Art Rage, which was nice. Though... is there a program out there that blends colors the way pigments blend in real life? They should get duller, not brighter.

Had the mad idea recently to do an illuminated Bible. The whole thing. With ballpoint pens. I may never get around to it, but it's a fun mad idea.

Beholderess: Thanks so much! It only took a few minutes, really.

scion: Haha, I've been working on my proportions work through the weekend and it's slowly starting to sink in. Still hate it, which is why I have over half my homework to do. But hey, it doesn't take me an hour to edit a single figure anymore.

CALLIGRAPHY!!!! I'm more of a fountain pen or quill calligrapher. But illumination is something I love to look at. Send pics.
