I'm bored. Let's watch what I've missed here.

Episode 6. In which there's a contraption.

That's certainly an appropriate reaction.

Why is it just as bad to be interested in the children's mothers rather than in the children themselves?

I wonder if it's the mother's mother sense that's tingling, or her self preservation.

"Even normal grown ups?" Harsh in a way that didn't even trigger his masochism. More of that later.

"If you squint, it's pretty sweet." Good summary of it.

And Mayumi's worse. Far worse. Well, she gets what she deserves. Maybe even a little more.

"We're not kids! It's not that simple!" Actually, it pretty much is like that.

Episode 7. In which there's not a hamster.

So Shiro has black hair. Isn't it ironic.

A jab straight to the chest. Not-so-poor Mayu.

Ricchan would rather read a book than avoid getting molested. And she probably wouldn't even notice it while she was reading.

True enough, she completely missed him, despite walking directly past him.

Sayu can be scary.

Okay, that's just stupid. Besides, the girls can go to the men's area without consequences.

Randomly, I think Mayumi's hair looks great when it's green in the darkness.

It's a surprise that she took his request seriously?

Episode 8:

Got to agree with Kawai, that does sound like a drag.

Yeah, it seems odd people will be waiting for Usa wherever he goes.

Kawai, really looked Kawaii in that outfit. tongue

Got to agree with Mayumi, what an ungrateful wench. And yeah, Usa was way to nice there. Good thing he got such good friends.

Happideath and embarasicide, nice. [lol]

In the end things turned very nice for Usa, he got to eat his favorite dish right next to Kawaii, who showed that she really cares...

...suddenly Mayuimi! What, did you think this episode would end on a positive note?

Episode 8. Which is predictable, but not annoyingly so.

The moment he thinks someone's normal... I like Yamamoto's hair, though. He's pretty. The girl in the flashback is also cute.

Okay, getting shot down by him has got to be hard.

They're so good friends, those two.

Wait, that blonde girl, if she's as fake as the resident spider...

Okay, I see where they're going.

She recognised him.

They're so good friends, those two.

"I don't want to go."
"They have books."
(Sparkles.)
Someone's easily convinced. Though it'd be funnier if she was tempted with Usa in a uniform.

I kind of like Usa's an Hayashi's interactions. Especially how he mostly seems annoyed with her, and she's more tsundereish.

Now I'm just waiting for them to get jealous over his interactions with his favourite bookworm.

Hayashi's actually more sympathetic than I expected, as she seems rather bothered by them mocking Usa.

That's what I was waiting for. Good job, Kawai! And then the two older girls get into the act as well. They're not as gentle as Kawai.

Mayumi Bad End.

I must say, I have problems with the names Sayaka and Mayumi, for some reason. Always mix them up.

Episode 9 is out:

Mayumi is right. Looking down on peasants does makes one feel better.

She's actually quite good with guitar, more so than I expected.

Ah we get a peek into the girl part of the complex.

Fight on centipede!

Usa did good again! And he's so happy he find it suspicious.

That's what Mayumi needed - a younger guy to boost her ego. Also wow, he's short.

Episode 9. In which Mayumi's providing more fanservice than usual.

"What is she doing?" Good question. And at least he didn't pick the other girl.

She's really desperate if she wants to be more like Shiro...

She's not a bad musician.

That's a non-standard reaction.

Shiro's sure helping with his centipedular tales.

That bra in the top right. Yeah, like that's one more noticeable than the one she's wearing, let alone in that messy yet sparkly room...

"She's not a girl; she's a woman." Surprisingly effective argument.

When he said it smelled like a bookstore I couldn't help but smile.

I've never really understood the fetish about entering someone's room.

Of course the spider would take care of the bug.

Yeah, not used to things going his way.

Good confidence boost.

"You're so horrible it's actually refreshing to watch!" You know, that might be a good description for it. And for most of what Saya's about.

Next episode seems like it could be interesting.

[up]Of course he's short. He's a teen.

Who doesen't like the smell of a bookstore?

Though I wouldn't describe it as arousing.

I've never really understood the fetish about entering someone's room.

But he's so close to her bed!

[up]Of course he's short. He's a teen.

Episode 10. In which there's ballsy choice of words.

Always fun to use proper words for what you're describing.

He's certainly too worried about how people perceive him, and less concerned about doing what he enjoys and actually being happy.

He's surprised at that splendiferous vehicle?

I'd forgive her as well. Probably. As I mentioned before, she's not really that bad. Just a bit... not all that connected to reality. And she's got several interesting sides to her.

Count on Mayu to put Saya down if she gets a chance.

Good match, methinks.

He really expected her to leave something related to books just because the usual weirdos were weird? Where has he been living all this time?

Oh, hey, jealousy, or something that looks like it? Could probably be good for her.

Polishing mud balls. Reminds me of a certain episode of MythBusters...

Shiro's metaphor about Mayu is dead on.

Mayu's and China's discussion on two completely different planes is hilarious.

Ignore, ignore, "Loner-senpai"...

Leave it to the kid to explain everything to her.

I like who she said she'd call the police on.

This time, using the actually proper words seems like the proper words.

Usa was right when he was suspicious last episode. This time he wasn't even there while they created a setback for him.

That's a lot of books.

I knew it was no coincidence that one of Usa coworkers was a ghost freak as well!

As it turns out Usa is to nice for his own good.

Mayumi is a master of snappy remarks. Also an expert at ball handling... though the fact that she applies too much pressure is kinda worrying.

Man, kids can be annoying and tactless.

If all goes well this might make Kawai bit more active. If not... well Usa is already used to having difficult life.

I feel like someone should point out to Kawai that she's approximately half of the people Usa is friends with. Not believing he likes her is one thing. Not believing he cares about her is quite another, and frankly heartbreaking.

Episode 11 is out:

Sayaka's friends come to visit. It's of course a source of great embarrassment for her. He weakness gets revealed too.

Meanwhile Kawai makes a friend of her own. This turns out to be more troublesome for her than anything.

Usa spends he episode mopping, again.

Oh next episode is the last one. Pity.

Episode 11. In which time passes.

Is that actually advice from Saya? Her style, but still. She's also quick to interrupt anything that seems to be getting good.

Not that Mayu's any better, given the chance.

"She doesn't have any weaknesses." I believe that's someone's cue to show up.

Nabe's sweating buckets. This is going to be satisfying. I hope.

I like how he's surprised she's got a friend.

Miharu says something, and Nabe corrects her, saying she meant something else. Then she clarifies. I like her.

Lots of interesting revalations about Nabe's preferences.

Actually kind of sweet to see her caring. I mean, she says she's not that close while taking care of her glasses. And that's just the start.

Aww, never get to see what she looks like without makeup.

Mayu's violent.

She really does like that bat.

I think Mayu's got more of an imagination than, well, anyone there. Except Shiro.

Does she drink a lot?

I wonder what she got mixed up in...

Episode 12. In which they argue.

If you don't want to, why are you? Well, that's explainable. It's easy to keep thinking about what you don't want to think about.

Well, he is a bit of a creep, but much more of a harmless one. At least in that company.

Ridiculing people always come with the risk of offending someone.

That's actually rare to admit, especially if you don't want help.

Them arguing is cute. And a good step forward.

A lot of people are either-or like that. No sense of moderation.

"I'm glad you're so petty." She's good about making others feel better about themselves by proving how bad it could be.

So she's a rude drunk.

And again, the men can't go to the women's area, but the women have all the access they want to the men's area.

So there are nude photos in that box.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd rank living in the same house a fair bit above getting someone's phone number.

Overall, I must say I enjoyed this more than I expected. Not top-of-the-line anime, but decent enough. A lot of it is held up by how they interact with each other, since most of them by their own aren't that interesting, especially the main couple.

Aww, I myself ended up loving this one. It was funny and cute and it had an air that set it apart from other series I believe. I don't know what it is, but the characters and show definitely felt apart from a normal formula.

Usa changing the face of the hypothetical creep to his was funny. [lol]

I really hate this type of snobby jerks. Nice that Kawai called him on his bullshit.

Usa gave a good advice here. You have to tell people like that to back off otherwise they won't get a hint.

Usa trying really hard to understand the book. Hard not to cheer on him.

Drunk Kawai is amazing. [lol]

Usa when you started to be so naive as to think you could be so lucky?

Usa hard work paid off. Phone number acquired!

I really like this anime. It's so amazingly honest take on teenage romance. All the problems, all screw ups all the up and downs feel incredibly natural. It's hilarious and adorable without feeling artificial and sanitized like often happen in anime.

Of course it probably wouldn't work without the amazing cast of supporting characters that really play off well of the leads and each other without really stealing the spotlight too much.

[up] We learned it in the first episode, I think.

[up][up] It definitely felt like the episodes were more or less standalone.

Still, though, this was quite refreshing considering how straightforward the story is. A delightfully dyfunctional cast and a heavily shippable main couple. Good stuff.
