Not necessarily. Mari would probably fulfill the timely rescue condition, though the BFFs Foreva! part depends on how dedicated to Witch-hunting the potential Magical Girls are.

"Who am I, Elisha Otis?"

• Name: Kaz Kazuko
• Age: 14
• Appearance: A short girl with straight brown hair, rather dull, brown eyes, with a scar crossing her face. Tends to wear a dark hoodie, and sunglasses.
• Personality: Extremely bitter and cynical, Kaz views life through jaded, nihilistic lenses. Tends to go to extremes to accomplish her goals. Views everyone and anything as a potential enemy, and even EXPECTS people to betray her. Due to this, she has difficulty making friends, making her rather lonely. Tends to the pessimistic side, usually.
• Backstory: Kaz's history is rather odd. She developed, at an early age, cancer, terminal. She would have died were it not for her sister, who contracted with Kyuubey, and became a magical girl. Kaz, unaware of this, believed it to be a miracle. Even before she developed cancer, she was always frail. Now? She was strong! Believing her health was a gift from the heavens, she resolved to live life to its fullest.

Meanwhile, her sister deteriorated, as she fought, night after night, witch after witch. Eventually, after having a breakdown, she confessed the truth of her miraculous recovery to Kaz, who, skeptical, demanded to be brought on a witch hunt. Suffice to say, Kaz never quite recovered from what she saw that night. Swearing to help her sister, she learned how to use a single gun she had stolen, and began to provide limited support to her when her sister went witch hunting, mostly by distracting the witch long enough for her sister to finish it off. Eventually, they encountered another pair of magical girls, who told them the truth behind the contract. Despairing, Kaz's sister ran off. Taking advantage of this, the pair of magical girls took Kaz, with the intent of feeding her to a familiar to boost it to witch status. Arriving just in the nick of time, Kaz's sister rescued her from the familiar, and proceeded to engage the magical girls. Unfortunately, the pair were more than a match for Kaz's sister. Broken and defeated, the despair she felt was more than enough to transform her into a witch. She was then slain by the pair, who proceeded to harvest her grief seed. Enraged, but knowing she didn't stand a chance, Kaz fled. Seething with hatred, Kaz now searches for a way to 'even the score', so to speak.

Yeah, no. Everything up til, "became a capable witch killer in her own right." No human stands even a remote chance against a witch, and the only chance you have of killing a Mahou Shoujo is a surprise shot to the Soul Gem. Anything but that and they will then know where you are and kill you back thinking your under a Witch's influence. The only reason Homura could use mundane weaponry against witches was due to being able to timestop and fire the shots off from close enough that they were undodgable . Also if you want an arsenal of weaponry I'd like a reasonable explanation as to how that was acquired considering this is in Japan, where private citizens are not allowed to own guns.

• Name: Heidi Viha
• Age: 14, nearing 15
• Wish: To rip apart monsters in human skin, I'll become one myself.
• Normal Appearance: Thoughtful.
• Costumed Appearance: "Shall we, Kensatsukan?"
• Weapon: Kensatsukan pictured above: a horryfing hodgepodge of a scythe, chainsaw and flamethrower adorned with a mechanical skull which jaws can open to catch any opponent off-guard. Heidi can use it both one-handed and two-handed.
• Power: The Monster In Human Skin: Heidi's very presence, like an incoming beast, is... disconcerting. In hearts of normal muggles she can induce anything from anxiety to panic. This effect doesn't really work on Witches, but can cause some minor unease in other Magical Girls. It can be toggled on and off at will. She's also able to sense malicious intents although they never take on a clear form and can be anything from mere insults to thinking about murdering somebody.
  • This power can also manifest in her physically transforming into a monstrous form. It's somewhat similar to werewolf transformations: she needs a moment to change and transformation itself is rather paining. Additionally it requires a strong emotion to kick in, such as fury or hatred. Once it's complete, Heidi gains long claws, razor-sharp teeth and a black-ish scale that doubles her usual resistance to damage. Monster!Heidi runs on her own hatred, so once the metaphorical glove is off, she won't relent until either she or her target is dead. Used only in dire circumstances.
• Personality: Heidi is a strange person. Prior to her contract with QB she was the sweetest, most endearing thing that could walk the Earth, but that image is no longer true: while still capable of being affable, she never quite manifests her true feelings, hiding behind a mask of stoicism. Speaking in a constant monotone and with an affinity for poetics she likes to speak in quotes and paraphrases. If one were to crack this facade by enraging her enough or by just getting to know her better they'll see the true self of Heidi Viha: a broken, bitter cynic whose hatred for her fellow "monsters in human skin" is the only thing keeping her from falling apart.
• Backstory: Ten years ago, Heidi and her family moved from Finland to Japan to stay in here for good, tempted with prospects of good life. Always an oddity among her peers due to her Caucasian features and ghastly white skin, Heidi nevertheless had managed to integrate into society relatively well. Up until her 13th birthday everything was going peachy-keen and she herself was a happy, cheerful kid.
• Then it all changed. She was returning from school when all of a sudden what welcomed her upon return were empty rooms, devoid of life. Both of her parents and her younger sister, Astrid, were seemingly absent for no reason... until she found them. Three bodies, tied and marked with numerous cuts. Her sister's chest still had a giant kitchen knife stuck all the way to the handle, dripping with blood of all she knew, brutally taken away.
• The cheerful Heidi Viha shattered like a broken glass. Unable to comprehend, unable to cope, she shut herself down from everything and everyone. The police investigation ceased after a short, incomplete investigation that deduced her father's supposed mental instability that caused all of this. There were condolences and words of comfort, but all of them empty, shallow, forced. It was then when Kyubey manifested herself to her, offering a wish, a chance to become a Magical Girl. Supposedly any wish was possible... and thus was the start of the legend of vengeful psychopomp killing serious and unrepentant criminals all across prefecture of Nagano. She faced close calls of her Soul Gem completely darkening a number of times, but the one thing that kept her from desparing was the intense hatred to the world balancing her own self-loathing at her current state, to the ones who stripped her off family, innocence and the normal human life. Now she was something else, a so-called "monster in human skin".
• The year-long legend ceased when the elderly couple from Ryuugo Town had shown mercy upon Heidi's tormented soul and adopted her, taking her away from her place of origin. Facing genuine kindness she decided to change, if only a bit: she stopped being only a glorified urban legend, now she also took her duties of killing Witches to heart, to protect the ones who were innocent, even if those were only two old people she started loving like a family. That didn't change the fact that every now and then another notorious figure from the underworld would be found, mangled beyond all imagination...

Phew. There we go. Sorry for making yet another grimdark Puella Magi. Hopefully it all makes sense.

Only thing I'd suggest would actually be to maybe up the level of your power. Perhaps have her grow claws, horns, and of monstrous traits as she activates it, somewhat similar to a Devil Trigger in Devil May Cry.

...I've had an idea for an antagonistic magical girl for a while now....

The issue is if I can play it well, and if I won't end up backing out of yet another RP like I have been recently...

I'm tempted to make a Magical Girl who treats it all like an exciting part-time job. Something of a fighting/sports nut, but otherwise quite amiable and positive about the whole thing.

...problem is that I won't have time for RPGs until after next weekend.

Uuuh. Madoka. Rps on this board surely are tempting, problem is I might not be able to guarantee the pace. What is the usual rythm of posting?

• Name:Kikuchi Emi
• Age:16 actually 51...
• Wish:"I want to live young and beatiful forever ~"
• Normal Appearance:Emi usually wears rather unassuming clothes, like a long, flat skirt a loose blouse and sweater, and flat shoes. She also combs her hair in a boring hairstyle.
• Costumed Appearance:"Howdy ~"◊
• Weapon:Obsidian Knives, wich can be thrown in barrages and are helluva sharp. This reflects her twisted, dark personality and incisive wit.She also carries a pistol in her back. Can't be too cautious. And a zippo with cigarettes on her cleavage.
• Power: Regeneration-Emi can recover from grievous wounds with more ease than most magical girls. She can't heal others more efficiently however.

• Personality: Emi has many faces. On her daily life she behaves like a shy, unassuming girl who only wants to be left alone. When fighting as a Mahou Shoujo, she has an habit of taking everything with extreme cynicism, flinging insults while flaunting and laughing madly as if possesed by a deep madness. Neither are her true personality, although the second comes closer. Once a vain and proud spoiled brat, Emi is jaded due to the constant fighting, but she understands that the only thing she can do is push forward and fight the best she can do to avoid other people dying, as an atonement for her past arrogance and recklessness. She also considers her duty to teach the newbies. After all, no one can trust that bastard of Kyuubei (and it won't stay dead). And don't even call her "old lady" unless you want a knife in the head.

Backstory: Born the eldest of two sisters of a rather wealthy family, Emi and her sister were rather spoiled as her mother, a beauty pageant, and her father, a rather successful businessman both had large sums of money. She had everything she could possibly need, and thus she grew bored. And then her sister came with an uncanny story of Magical Girls and a creature named Kyuubei. It could grant any wish, provided you became a magical girl to fight witches. It seemed a good deal, and she spent her time tracking down and contacting the creature. While she was quite forthcoming with her sister, Emi's age was a bit above of the normal boundaries. However it conceded after some deliberating. Her sister wished for a beautiful necklace. Emi chuckled, chiding her short sighted sister and wished to have eternal beauty, for if one wish was granted, there was nothing less deserving of it.

Both did thus join the ranks of Mahou Shoujo. The hunts were nothing like she imagined. Abominations all over trying to kill them both, hard struggles and meager victories. Emi, for all her rotten upbringing, loved her sister and went out of the way to protect her. But, the inevitable happened. Her sister overused her magical energy and became a witch. Crestfallen, Emi slayed the witch that had become her sister, while telling to herself she would escape the same fate. Except it wasn't easy. She kept fighting, she kept on surviving, honing her skills while she abandoned her family, taking advantadge of a forever youthful body to her fullest. She eventually came to own a nightclub called the Witches' Kiss, under a fake identity (Since who would believe that a teenager can be found in such a den of vice?) Over the decades she also learned more skills, like driving, martial arts and some really basic courses of shooting, courtesy of a dirty-minded cop.

Alright, here's my girl. Dunno if I should also list the magical skills she tends to use besides the power she gets that is related to her wish.

• Name: Morisato Natsumi
• Age: 15
• Wish: "I wish to live my life once again, so that I may make the most of it"
• Normal Appearance: Let's go to the sea!
• Costumed Appearance: On her costumed appearance, Natsumi's hair is tied up in a single side tail with a small tie in a ribbon. Her costume sports a long skirt slitted to the sides to allow a great range of motion, a tunic with detached sleeves tied up just a bit higher than the elbow and a simple pair of traditional footwear. The colors of her outfit are mainly a dark mint green on the skirt and sleeves, with white for the tunic. Her Soul Gem hanging from her neck in a prayer beads collar, sometimes exposed sometimes hidden underneath her tunic.
• Weapon: Spear, reflecting her cautious nature to poke things from afar.
• Power:
  • Foresight: Granted by her wish to live life once again with previous experiences, Natsumi's power manifest in a keen sense that allows her to sense danger. When making a choice or doing an action she can get a foreboding when such a thing will bring about a certain amount of danger or disaster. It also functions passively warning her when something bad will come and just how 'dangerous' that thing would be. While this ability does not help her in actually solving problems, it helps her avoid disasters and losses and gives her warning when to retreat or which attacks to avoid, choosing actions which have a lesser amount of 'risk'.
• Personality: Natsumi is a bright, energetic, happy deeply grateful girl. A silly acting and teasing attitude hide underneath a more sedate outlook on which Natsumi feels truly grateful for all the blessings inherent in being alive and all the wonders the world truly holds. To protect the life she holds dear, she's more than willing to step into the battlefield with a smile on her lips. Despite a seemingly reckless nature in everyday life, getting into mischief gleefully for the enjoyment of it, when the stakes are raised, Natsumi is surprisingly conservative and careful, thinking twice before acting and always looking for the solution which carries the least amount of risk. However, she's willing to take chances when it comes to defending that which she loves.
• Backstory: Natsumi was once a very passive and somewhat apathetic girl, who nevertheless had the good fortune of having a happy and joined family during her early life. However, by the time she was 12 her family faced financial difficulties and during them she behaved quite a lot like a brat making it all the worse. This would eventually end up in her parents separating and a slightly darker period of her life. Furthermore, a close friend of hers also died on an traffic accident a day she was too busy to hang out together. At fifteen years, Natsumi's life was full of regret, as she found new classmates which were talented, cheerful and had developed skills while she had just cruised by her life in contentment or melancholy. However, all changed in a single day where she was allowed to visit her father and the two of them spent a wonderful day... where her dear father did it all for them to enjoy it from dawn to night. That day Natsumi learned what she truly wished with all her heart... for her to have been able to enjoy every single day like she had that day. She met Kyuubey little while after that and after making a diary where she noted down all the important events and meetings of her life to then memorize it, she wished to live her life anew. Natsumi's second attempt at life was wildly more eventful than the first one. A cheater at life, academics were hardly a problem for a girl who was coursing it all from the beginning once again. She developed as many skills as she could while she was younger and had more free time, having her mother enroll her in dancing lessons, kendo and piano. She learned on her own how to draw, spending much of her class time doodling and practicing at it. She took as many opportunities as she could to have fun and meet new people. However, some things didn't go exactly as planned. A few friends of old she was unable to meet with her new outlook in life and different circumstances. And indeed, some relationships ended up wildly different as she assumed a different role from the passive girl of old. A point of high stress was when she went to buy her pet dog at 7 years of age... for at that time, she had picked them at random out of a big litter of many puppies. The second time around, Natsumi is certain that she didn't pick the same one and thus never got to meet her old friend. Additionally, during their times of hard financial times, Natsumi was supportive of her parents... and additionally, managed to help them rise to new heights. After all, before she went back in time, she memorized a date and a lottery number to help her family with. Today, Natsumi is a rich and bright girl... a seeming winner at life, with many skills and a sincere smile. She lives her life seeking to never have any regrets. And she owes a lot to Kyuubey and her wish, for a fulfilling life of pure happiness. For this life and what is yet to come, she's greatly thankful and more than willingly did she step into the battlefield against the witches six months before. So far, her smile remains genuine.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

@Atomic: I like the concept and the abilities seem rather interesting... Though the whole immunity to becoming a Witch is a bit much. Perhaps make it a 50/50 chance each time and she's just been lucky so far?
