[up]The Indian govt seems to also be going after the properties of other khalistani leaders in India too.

After Nijjar, properties of Khalistani extremist who threatened Hindus in Canada seized. National Investigation Agency confiscated properties of pro-Khalistan extremist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in Chandigarh and Amritsar, days after his online hate video surfaced threatening Canadian Hindus to leave the country

[down]Neither do I really. Was just stating the info. Also I assume they are not going to stop with these 2 and go after other khalistani or designated terrorists in general as well whenever the opportunity presents itself.

TBH, I find it hard to care about an online hatemongerer having his property confiscated.

This is deep into "nobody's right" territory, given how India has repeatedly failed to live up to its guarantees of religious pluralism with regard to the Sikhs, and this has been going on since at least Indira Gandhi.

Still, as has been mentioned, I'm not shedding any tears for the hatemongers. Just wondering who's going to confiscate Modi's property?

Old news by a few days, Sukhdool Singh Gill was killed in Winnipeg after the NIA identified him as wanted.

[up]If the Indian govt turns out to have links with regards to both this and the assassination of Nijjar, they sure must be getting really bold and unhinged. Wonder if they are trying to milk their temporary importance with regards to containing China's threat for all its worth, in such a case. It would be pretty short term stupidity though, if that is the case after all, as China won't be a threat to the western order forever, and even if they remain so for a long time, there is going to be a limit to how far they can go before being seen as more trouble than its worth. Then again if Modi is gone by that time, his legacy would likely be preserved for his fanbase since as far as the nationalists would be concerned, it would be the then leader's "weakness" that would be to blame (while hypocritically claiming Nehru's legacy to be "tainting" India forever).

"Terrorists Found Safe Haven In Canada": Lankan Minister Shreds Trudeau. Speaking exclusively to ANI, Mr Sabry said he is "not surprised" by his remarks since Trudeau keeps making "outrageous and substantiated allegations."

If true, I am assuming the vitriol from Sri Lanka has to do with Trudeau's remark in May regarding the Tamil genocide remembrance day and not just being cozy with India.

The Indian parliament has passed a bill that guarantees a third of seats for women in the lower house of parliament and state assemblies. But the country is a long way away from seeing more women elected to its legislatures soon since it will be implemented only after India completes the next census and an exercise to redraw the boundaries of constituencies - the complicated processes are expected to take several years. Still a step in the right direction I think even if the effect will take time.

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh made a speech to pay tribute to Indians who settled in India to get away from being oppressed.

He doesn't mince words with pointing the finger at Modi for encouraging human rights violations.

And pro-Modi bots are filling up the YT video comments.

Supposedly Indian media's reporting that two Punjabi gangsters, Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, masterminded Gill's murder in Winnipeg. Make sure to take lots of salt with ya.

Yeah I've noticed the Indian media seems very primed to label these people as part of a criminal organization. I'm skeptical, and it doesn't help that this is only Indian news sources talking about who these people are.

Seems that India's stance towards Canada is not that heated anymore. Bob Rae, Canadian ambassador to the UN was told to meet with Ruchira Kamboj, Indian ambassador to the UN, aside and mentioned that it's still possible for New Delhi and Ottawa to get their heads up and look into Nijjar's death.

A brief Twitter thread on the guy assassinated. Apparently even though the complaints go back almost a decade, the pertinent authorities in Canada have always "declined to comment".

There's new info on a video that showed Nijjar moments before he died.

WP suggests that Nijjar's assassination was likely done by pros.

India tells Canada to withdraw dozens of diplomatic staff - but the thing that caught my eye was:

In earlier meetings, India had even urged Canada to halt the inquiry [into the murder], according to people familiar with the case.

The FBI led the way to stop a plot (in the making) to take down an American Sikh named Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Indian diplomats were "warned" after Pannun was safe from the supposed attack.

This came after the NIA filed charges against him for making terrorist threats against Air India.

The Intercept mentions (take with some salt) that the Pakistani Intelligence Bureau warned that RAW ran teams to take out pro-Sikh figures overseas. But it does kind of jives with some reports on other Sikh figures in North America/Europe who have been killed. There were some in Pakistan IIRC who got taken out.

The Pakistani, Indian, and Canadian embassies did not provide comment for this story. The pace of suspected attacks inside Pakistan against individuals wanted by India appears to have accelerated in recent weeks. On November 13, India media reported the killing of another militant connected to an Islamist group in Karachi. The possible assassination followed the killings of two other Islamist militants wanted by India that had taken place recently in Pakistan’s tribal regions and the disputed territory of Kashmir. While covered in great detail by the Indian press, these killings have gone almost unmentioned in Pakistan, where local media and civil society are under de facto military control following the removal of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Wouldn't Pakistan's govt and press have more incentive to bring up the killings if they have Indian links? As the article states, it has not been shy from periodically accusing India of backing militant groups in Pakistan, why they would be silent over said suspected killings of militants wanted by India?
