Would you rather live, or die trying to get promoted?
Give the God Eater game thread some love! That is a shit ton of girls. Delicious loli-ish girls too. As long as Nanami gets more screentime and the girls are nice I'm happy. Flag power itself, really gonna have to see it more in action before I can judge.
"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - SueI don't really like how flags work. It's just... Breaking them isn't neat or fun. It's not my favourite anime mechanic and it doesn't feel like it's got much impact.
Plus, if that truck was already heading for that guy, isn't it a bit late to save him? What kind of laws do these flags operate on anyway?
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."NISA just announced that they have the license for this.
Not Three Laws compliant.Think of it this way: the truck was heading toward the guy because of the death flag on his head. Once it's broken, the truck has no reason to hit him.
I agree it's a stretch and doesn't make much sense though.
Give the God Eater game thread some love! The fact that the Flags make no sense causality-wise is actually a plot point, and our hapless MC eventually moves from trying to break the black flag on his head to finding the "truth of the world". Spoilers ho, for those who haven't read the manga or LN!
Later chapters soon allude to how the world our MC and his friends are living in to be some sort of artificial construct, and how it's already "ended". There's a whole lot of magic-related shenanigans going on in the background that our main characters aren't aware of, but the latest manga chapter (I'm assuming is around volume 4 or so of the L Ns) introduces a freaking dragonslayer, so take that as you will.

"Gaworare"? If that's the abbreviation for this series, it seems like a rather odd one; most at least use the very first kana rather than skipping straight to the fourth. >_>
It's like how Boku [ha] Tomodachi ga Sukunai got abbreviated to Haganai.

Give the God Eater game thread some love!Episode 1. In which there are many flags.
The girls' uniform, that teacher... They're not that subtle with the fanservice.
Either there are a bunch of important characters, or the background character designer had a lot of fun.
Yeah, Nanami totally doesn't have a flag. Though I kinda agree with her. Souta's being a little stereotypical.
Akane's cute. Overly so. And entirely expected that she's so overly so her flag can't break. Well, permanently. She's so persistent it's funny.
Nanami laughing at Souta trying to fend off Akane is hilarious.
He seriously wasn't kidding about his home being a mess.
Okay, that explanation explains rather well why it's just a friendship flag. She also seems about as aware of herself as I expected.
Akane is more like real people are when it comes to flags. Not dependent on singular sitations as much as her own determination.
I'm not sure about the flag concept. I'll see how it's handled.
Check out my fanfiction!I've been reading the manga adaptation, so I'd been looking forward to this, but the art style pissed me off for some reason. It's growing on me, though.
The main noteworthy thing I see is that Crunchyroll's promo art clearly has Hakua on it, so the anime's definitely going farther than the manga adaptation, at least.
Akane + Kiku = Lethal combination. I don't seem to recall them being this crazy in the manga...guess they exaggerated it a little.
Poor Megumu, haha.
I hope they won't play up the fanservice and harem aspects too much.
At least they're making it a point to place some foreshadowing in every episode so far.

Give the God Eater game thread some love!Episode 2 is completely off the rails in the first half. It's insanely rapid-fire events. It is quite absurd and not quite a good thing the way it's played. But wow, that pace is too fast especially for such insane events when they're not being played in a subversive way.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Episode 2. In which there's reconstruction.
That Sakura girl seems absolutely normal. Nothing mysterious about her whatsoever.
I'm not that fond of the OP song.
Totally not jealous or anything. Or just standard anime dumb, whichever fits better. And she deserves pretty much any violence directed her way. Probably still won't weigh up what she does, though.
Why does Kikuno have an apron and a ladle? But really, I'm not sure she could be more over the top if they tried.
The cut from being happy to crying is funny. So's her yandere-beginning mood switching over to approval. And Akane bowing and butting heads.
Prez seems... equipped for battle. Halfway, at least. Somehow I like her. Seems loony and positive enough.
"It wasn't me this time!" This time? I'd like to hear more about what she's done in the past.
"It's like a whole different building." It doesn't even have the same layout.
I wonder why people treat her as a girl... And why everyone thinks she is a girl.
"I totally don't want to live here, especially if I don't get that room!"
Does she ever let go of that ladle? Though it can be used as convenient censoring.
So boke she made Akane tsukkomi... That's impressive.
So, he was made to peek. One happy, one surprised, and one decidedly not happy.
Yeah, totally absolutely normal. Totally nothing mysterious about her whatsoever.
Dunno about the pacing. For what happens, I think it kind of would just have been bland to take it slower. Get past the unoriginal bits fast, and get to the funny and/or original bits quicker. Then again, I like Rapid-Fire Comedy. I find that underestimating how fast the audience catches onto jokes is worse than overestimating it. Generally speaking, as there are plenty of jokes that work better with an appropriate pause. But that also tends to work better with Stand-Up Comedy, as the comedian can judge the audience live. And generally speaking, subversive jokes take longer to process than straight jokes.
Check out my fanfiction! If it was meant to be rapid-fire they didn't play it right. I've seen quite a few other people make the complaint that the pacing was was strangely fast.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."I did love how silly was put upon a silly. A simple friendship circle, turning into a whirlwind. Ritual indeed.
Same as usual.... Wing it.Quite a few people are slow.
Check out my fanfiction!Well that, and this world isn't exactly normal either.
I liked the way Kikuno literally slid out of the screen when she got headbutted, as if she were wearing skates or something.
Give the God Eater game thread some love! You could say that.
Pace was fine. Honestly, I think it would hurt it to slow down.
Is ladle and sister some sort of pun in Japanese? This is the second time I've seen that association
Of course. My mistake for expecting this show to take a moment to tell us who the main character is rather than what's happening to him.
Don't want to impede the flow of events or people might get contemplative.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Honestly, given the pacing of the manga adaptation, it feels like they have no choice but to move quickly if they want to hit anything of note in 12 episodes.
Didn't she also slide in in the same way?
Check out my fanfiction!Second Flag:
- Didn't think flags can dodge for their lives. Or maybe it's just Kikuno. She also takes things in great stride.
- Prez was nice enough to give your home a makeover, Souta! But hey, can't be living there by yourself, lest you want to be homeless! Boo! Drag her off the stage!
- Oh well, you already had some company. Make sure Nanami gets her desired room. Now do the Friendship Ritual!
- That ladle's glued to Kikuno or something?
- Poor Meg...umu. Don't forget he's manly in his own right.
- Sakura's mysterious. And that was a weird game of chess. And was that letter always there? So... I wonder who fills out the respective roles(mage, ninja, knight, etc.)?
Classes? Hint: Look at the characters' last names.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!
First Flag:
So yeah, nice first episode.
