Akari is very level-headed.
Her head may be in the clouds, but she keeps it there.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntIt sways up and down between high and low clouds, though, whereas Toru is mostly grounded in pragmatism.
Check out my fanfiction!Akari might be a bit odd but she sure as hell is more of a straight thinker than her moody brother. I mean it's her who took care of them for years while he was wallowing in self pity and being a total parasite.
She's also the one who smashed up a restaurant and blamed it on him.
Check out my fanfiction!I don't think you've got solid ground to call him a parasite, Shulgo, when he was out gathering supplies when first meeting Chaika and there was nothing suggest Akari was getting leeched from or doing more work herself. Nor really having moral high ground after smashing the fuck out of a restaurant because ya know, Akari is kinda of gaga retarded about wooing said brother.
Let's just say both siblings have their moments of levelheadedness and selfishness. Because Akari is kinda loopy for the most part while Tohru is usually reasonable. Just this episode had them switch roles.
I don't think anyone here really approves of the saboteur's amorality, it just makes them interesting protagonists.

He only went to do that because she's threatened to stuff him after he spent like three years or so lying around doing nothing. When he's not doing Saboteur work he turns into total NEET.
Personally think Chaika and Toru's argument was forced, which is a point against the episode.
On the other hand: Fredrica omnomnom-ing fish.
There were several things that didn't make sense in the episode. That was one of the biggest ones, but at least that served the purpose of splitting them up. A few other involve how they got their loot, which only delayed the plot.
Check out my fanfiction!Yeah, it felt a bit forced to me to. The best way I can think of it was that Toru thought it was dangerous and figured she wouldn't try on her own. He was wrong.

Episode 4. In which there is an answer.
I'm kind of doubting Fredrica's competence in just about anything at this point. Can't even land properly.
How convenient that the Kraken stopped attacking once they fell into the water.
Probably a sound choice of spell. Does sound a bit awkward, though.
Let's split up! Well, it's not a horror story.
I wonder, is that the real Chaika, a perfected Chaika, or is it a reincarnation of Gaz?
She's totally not going to be important. Just a random servant girl. Not any more important than the other guy.
Oh, hey, competent action. Well, that's one.
History lesson. Not really anything new of importance. Probably.
Why attack him with only one person? Well, they didn't keep that up.
An answer to my above question. Or at least, it's not the first option.
Hadn't Chaika already begun to think about what could've been? Which is what actually is?
I kinda liked the last scene on the On the Next segment. Fredrica going wild.
Check out my fanfiction!Holy cow, for once we get honest to god answers out of this series!
I expected something like this. The question remains what's the purpose of all this.
Bioweapon production I can get but Chaika's seems like a roundabout solution to about any problem.
Well at least now the Chaika's have a good reason to team up.
Very fitting.

No wonder Layla chose her path, there is no meaning to gathering the remains of Gaz besides fulfilling his machinations. The answer was there from the beginning, they were just hoping she was the original, that there was no harm in gathering remains for a girl's wish.
And it was a big fat lie. Vivi in a way was lucky.
We get enough for emotional impact though still vague to drag things on. Magic lore, fantastic racism ahoy!
What the Kraken said is leading me to suspect an incoming apocalypse that Gaz was preparing for or something. Convoluted, needlessly so, but now I'm wondering as with the investigation team.
Let alone Hatsune Miku in a vat.

4th Avenging:
- Hey, more demi-humans. Looks like they only consist of cat-people.
- Thank you Great Old Kraken, for revealing some magical secrets of the world. And then some.
- Whew. No wonder Layla dropped everything and did her own thing. With that revelation out in the open, Chaika Red can finally cooperate with Chaika. ...Knowing her, it'll be more of an Enemy Mine than genuine cooperation.
x4 Is that other one any good? I suppose I should check it out at some point.
At least the "way Fredrica can't actually just pawn everything" makes some sense this time.
I wonder if the vat has a reanimated Chaika. Since we know a Chaika was with Gaz when he was killed and will killed with him
Kinda interesting that we are getting this reveal with over half the series to go. At least they get to teamup with Red.
Meant the current cour of course

Considering half the series has already passed, I don't think it's that surprising. But I suppose it depends on what you count as half the series.
I want more Vivi.
I also wonder where they're going to go from here.
Check out my fanfiction!Wasted opportunity to have Chaika speak fluently in the other language they mentioned.
This episode had possibly the worst choreographed fight in the series. I guess it wasn't an important fight or anything, but it was sort of jarring.
The secret twist is... exactly what everyone already suspected, including the characters themselves? I guess that's the problem with foreshadowing things too well. It's hard to relate to Chaika's feelings when the answer had been staring us in the face for a while now. Or maybe that's because of the gap between seasons?
I like the idea of Krakens being as intelligent as drago(o)ns.

That's been a thing in D&D for ages actually.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntI guess the idea is that she can no longer deny the unpleasant truth she's suspected for awhile.
/wonders who the Chaika the Heroes killed was, and why she was activated so long before the others.

"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Presumably, she was the original one. Not sure why they extracted her memories after she was killed though.
There was no original. They just told us that in this episode: Gaz had no real daughter in the first place. All their memories are completely fake.
Uhm... no? Or are you saying that the heroes are somehow part of this or have fake memories as well? After all, the heroes pretty much agreed that they executed Gaz's daughter/Chaika.
Pour y voir clair, il suffit souvent de changer la direction de son regard www.xkcd.com/386/They executed someone they thought was Gaz's daughter.
