I laughed at Sawatari saying he's undefeated and that Yuya is his disciple, while Serena is strong woman.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

I just realized that by this point, we have 3 different manipulative-type people running around, one for each dimension: The Professor, Reiji, and this head (?) of police. By this point, I wouldn't be surprised to discover that Heartland actually DID have its own manipulative bastard, and he's actually still around controlling the actions of Yuto and Shun.

But seriously, I could stand Reiji because he's a manipulator on "our" side(though only the future can tell if he'll pull a Goodwin or not), and The Professor hasn't really done much directly yet but he's projecting a lot of evil vibes. Then we have the dismissive, arrogant police-guy who has a god damn chess motif. It aggravates me to no end, but we'll see how his character develops as the episodes progress. I'm guessing he's only the arc villain instead of our season villain.

[up]Hey, look on the bright side. Yes, a chess motif is tired and cliche, but at least he's not picking his nose hair and blowing it in people's faces or something...

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.

[up]I'd say he's doing much worse; he threw out a perfectly good chess piece! smile

Actually, now that I think about it nearly every organization has had standardized decks (Except for Security, which apparently differentiates between Chaser-type decks with the "Goyo" archetype and the ground based troopers with the "vigilante" archetype). The Obelisks operate with Antique Gear archetype decks, though I don't think we know if the Slifers and Ras also use Antique Gear cards, or if they each have their own archetype.

Still, with the stanardized deck thing going on with both sides, I can't help but wonder if they're setting up a Not So Different? Probably just a coincidence, actually, but it's fun to think about it sometimes.

[up][up]The Slifer/Osiris guys do seem to run Ancient Gear too from the Heartland flashbacks, except they have Ancient Gear Knights rather than spam Hound Dogs with varying numbers of heads.

[up] Oh, right. In that case, I hope that it's just for the students instead of for EVERYONE in Academia. Considering Sora has Des-toys, which is wildly different from Ancient Gears, there's some indication that not every soldier uses Ancient Gears unless Sora was only allowed usage of the Des-Toys because of his mission. Using Ancient Gears tends to throw suspicion on you. Selena/Serena also uses a non Ancient Gear deck, as does the person who accompanied her through the portal iirc.

If The Professor shows up and he has an Ancient Gear deck, unless he has vastly different ones to the soldiers he's going to incur my rage.

The Standardized decks are basically there to emphasize the militarization. They use the same deck to bounce off each others plays and to give them a uniform look. Only the Elite Mooks probably have them, while the elite get their own decks, like Barrett. Sure it's boring they all use the same decks and plays but it gets the job done and it's like real life where you're always dueling Necroz, HERO's, Qliphorts, and Generic Rank 4 Spam! grin

Hmmm... Yuzu mentions she doesn't know her Mother. This could lead to the that theory!

wild mass guessThe theory that Yuzu and the bracelet girls are human constructs or forms of the bracelets power. So they really did just happen.

If that theory is true, imagine how Shuzou answered when Yuzu got curious about how she was born.

"Daddy, where did I come from?"

"Err...You just happened."

"Okay daddy!"

Fast forward 5-10 years, and she thinks that he only told her that because he wanted to avoid The Talk, even though that's EXACTLY how it happened. grin

For an episode entitled "Crow Hogan the Black Whirlwind" he sure wasn't in it for very much. Gongenzaka and Dennis's duel was rather fillery, but the writers must really like the former's archetype since every duel he's been in has been very good.

Those wand cards Dennis had at the start were the ones Yuma equipped his Gagaga magicians with, weren't they?

[up]Yeah, those were Wonder, Bound and One-Shot Wand from Zexal.

Fun Fact: Entermages are currently topping in the OCG! sad But that's mainly because they can be SS easily to make Rank 4's. They're not winning with Trapeze Magician or anything.

[up]Yeah, Trapeze Magician isn't much of a boss monster...

We can surmise that the Professor either uses D/D (Sora reacted to Reiji's D/D being "completely different") or S/S (to match the card suit motif).

[up][up]Technically it's not pure Em that's winning, but "Clownblade", which is a weird mix involving abuse of Thousand Blades and Tricklown to spam rank 4 all over the place.

[up]x3 Actually he's going to use S/S since each member of the Akaba family is based around a Suit of Cards motif. Reiji is Diamonds, Reira is Clubs, Himika is hearts (Heart shaped hairdo), with Leo as Spades.

They even have the entire group of Lancers be used to make a diamond in the OP if it wasn't already clear.

[down] Dang this is what happens when I read something on my phone.

Duel 57. AND ACTION!

  • Oh Yuzu. Blatantly telling people an invasion is going to happen isn't gonna turn people's heads. Except in mocking laughter.
  • Hey, it's that guy Carly went to for some info.
  • That was an entertaining duel. Dennis played the villainnote  well, and Gon kicks butt like always.
  • When Gallagher said strong duelists, the first thing I thought of was underground dueling. And the preview confirmed my suspicions right away. His getup was not helping things either.tongue
  • Jeager dollars!tongue

I think Yuzu needs to take a tip from Reiji; first, she has to build herself up a very powerful company, and then create a dueling tournament around the time Academia attacks. That way, she'll have footage that she can in no way have faked and use that to prove the totally real existence of another dimension...in Japanese to the whole world. Then, everyone would surely believe her instead of asking numerous questions and being unbelieving in general.

That aside, episode 57 is awesome. We get a cool duel between Gongenzaka and Dennis (And the framing is also a good one, though how Dennis expected to pass off that evil castle card when he was playing the good guy is a mystery to me), and some further insight into how sensitive people are in The City if they're willing to call the cops on two people bothering customers instead of, you know, shooing them off normally? You usually call the cops if they refuse to get off, not before...

Hell Kaiser would know how to deal with a underground duel, just smile. evil grin

Gallagher brings Gong and Dennis to the Underground Duel Area. They find Kurosaki having a Riding Duel with a Hunter Pace-looking guy and they meet him in the dressing room. Gallagher and, at the same time, The Kids at Crow's house explains Riding Duel. Some exposition with Crow I can't understand happens and Serena and Sawatari walk out of the house. Shun and Gallagher explains about the Friendship Cup and, I think Shun and Dennis want in to get to the Tops. Dennis and Kurosaki start their Duel but with a Handicap, Shun starts with only 1000 LP. Shun brings out a Rank 3 to start with some Dennis burn. Dennis brings out Trapeze Magician and brings Shun down to 100. With a new Rank-Up Magic, he brings out Blaze Falcon and brings Dennis down to 100. Shun seems suspicious of Dennis. Dennis Pendulums Summons as Jean detects the summon...

I like how Kurosaki immediately questions if Dennis is LDS. Considering how he's utterly stomped them at every opportunity, it makes sense. To Shun, Dennis is way to damned good to be one of them.

The thing with Crow was not exposition, it was just more of "Stay here, you are getting arrested if you go out". Serena obviously can't take that kind of talk. The thing with Friendship Cup is that the Lancer's goal is to gather strong Duelists as allies and that's where the strong duelists are. They mentioned Tops because that's the only tournament where Tops and Commons can compete together.

For some reason the fact that Shun's riding outfit still includes his scarf amuses me. I can understand (and am glad for) the reason for Speed World Neo no longer barring regular Magic cards, but why remove the Speed Counters? It's just window dressing without them.

I'm going to assume that the Friendship Cup will be structured in a way that combines the alternating Riding Duel/Ground Duel setup of the Fortune Cup with the team setup of the WRGP so that when the Lancers inevitably take part in it Gongenzaka won't be left out of the proceedings. Or maybe the lack of Speed Counters will just allow him to have a Riding Duel by standing in one place like Yuto did, Iunno.
