Anyone else using Google Chrome noticed that the font display has changed rather drastically within the past few days? The new look is really ugly now on most sites that I visit, including this site.

You need to check the settings on your browser. Chrome has apparently decided to use a different default font. Nothing we can do on this end.

I already tried tweaking those settings. No luck in getting the previous look back; whatever it is they did, it seems to have not actually changed my settings themselves in any way that I'd immediately notice. It doesn't help that it's been ages since I've touched that part of the settings, so even I don't remember what changes did I originally make.

All I've noticed is that Wikipedia looks crazy now, with all article text in an annoying bold font. Other sites still look the same for me.
