A story about a girl who lost all memories of her friends each Monday, and the guy who keeps insisting to be her friend despite knowledge of her condition. It's cute, it's heartwarming, and it's getting an anime airing in a week.

The latest chapter is chapter 20-something, but translation is up to chapter 14, the Sequel Hook for volume 4 of the yonkoma, where a major Mood Whiplash occurs.

I like the series, although it was brought to my attention that this most recent chapter had the whole "transfer student" thing played completely straight, which is a fair criticism.

Heh. Interesting development.

I found the series a while ago and quite liked it, but was rather dubious about actually following the series because the development feels rather bland. Maybe now's the time to do so.

I know it wouldn't help everything, but isn't this one of those situations where keeping a diary would be a really good idea?

A diary does come up in the manga eventually though.

Is this going to be one of those threads where you either read the manga, or are spoiled?

diary time! Despite how timid this anime is it is suprisingly shortwhiled and the feels are just flowing over.

Episode 2. In which there's a note to herself.

There are lots of people who wouldn't turn someone down if they asked to be friends, even if it was sudden. Cynical people like him would, though.

But lunch is the best time for it, since he knows where she goes, and they can be alone there, which means less fear of making a scene.

So her memory loss is that specific.

Wow, she sure accepted it in a heartbeat. Then again, she is well aware of her condition, and doesn't seem too uncomfortable about it in itself.

Do they really need two people for the scoreboard? Mostly just seems like an excuse to have something for people to do. Which seems like a rather terrible idea for gym class.

A volleyball to the face is nothing. It might hurt your nose a bit if it's straight on, but since the balls are fairly light for their size, there's not much effect.

She's very detailed. And mostly, seems to be a detailed account about him, rather than herself.

Peeking into a classroom from around the door: the conspicuous way of watching or waiting for someone.

Why would such a place be closed on Sundays? Special event going on?

The only thing you're supposed to do at a karaoke is to have fun. Everything else is to build up to that.

Note to herself: It probably doesn't need to be that big. But it's probably that important.

"Hase-kun is selfish and unfair." Okay, that's a great way to deal with the problem. But they do highlight how it's hard for both of them, in slightly different ways. It's not a good idea for her to pretend to remember, and it's not a good idea for him to think she is going to remember.

They should probably agree on some kind of ritual for meeting up the first time to make it easier for both of them. And I wouldn't be surprised if they do. They're both fairly reasonable, and realise there's more than one aspect to a problem.

But I defenetly liked how he realised that by relying only on the diary he is kinda entitling himself to be with her and how moraly ambigious this might be.

Yeah. They didn't treat it as a solution without flaws, even if it is mostly positive.

You know, considering she can visualise everything from just reading the entries, maybe she should have a photo of him somewhere so she can put a face to the name before heading to school on Mondays.

I have to wonder though, what if Hase opens up a little and makes lots of friends, and organises a get-together? Since she doesn't really care about anyone else, will she remember the event but with just him blanked out? If so, wouldn't that let her try new things in spite of the issues with her memory?

And another thing. It seems likely that her memory is reset at midnight between Sunday and Monday. What would happen if she stays up past midnight? Will her memory not be reset? Or will she experience the horror of having her mind wiped while she's still conscious? I wonder what would happen if Hase is with her at midnight?

Okay, even for this plot her amnesia isawfully... Specific and plot-convenient.

If the anime goes far enough - it's probably a bit too soon to call the pace - then there will be more information about it later. A justification.

A bit of Fridge Logic I had after watching the second episode of the anime adaptation...

Just what does she think of herself? Would her amnesia conditions kick in regarding herself? If so... just how much self-loathing does she have?

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.

So...she loses knowledge of her friends by remembers everything else? (how else could she go to school)

So she's gonna turn into a sociopath? (i.e. no longer see others as people)

It's already stated that she has no problems remembering family. No comment regarding the other point though.

Very plot-mandated trait. It's one thing you need to be able to accept to be able to accept the series.

Isn't there a trope or rule or something that you can have one detail of Willing Suspension of Disbelief necessary for the plot to work? A Necessary Weasel of sorts.

[down]Not quite, but certainly related.

I know it says that she remembers family. The optimist interpretation is that the amnesia only covers non-relations. The pessimist interpretation is that she doesn't really love her family. I'm wondering which is correct.

The diary, a logical counter to amnesia problems. But, it wasn't that clear a solution. Nice job sensing the negative aspects, Yuki.

That said, Kaori's very detailed. And Shogo's such a pal, reminding Yuki to change the score even when he got spiked...tongue
