The dry, sardonic and droll Bugs Bunny of recent The Looney Tunes Show is gone. "The hilarious, heroic and mischievous Bugs Bunny you love is back" according to the Cartoon Network who is once again reviving the classic in a new series, Wabbit - A Looney Tunes Production.

Cartoon Network revealed it's upcoming slate of new programming to advertisers this morning at their annual upfront conference. The biggest surprise was the announcement of yet another revival of the classic Looney Tunes franchise. Warner Bros. Animation will put Bugs Bunny stars an all-new series "consisting of comedic shorts that find the iconic carrot-loving rabbit matching wits against (and getting the best of) classic characters like Yosemite Sam and Wile E. Coyote." The scary part of that announcement was the next part, about "new" characters: "Along the way, Bugs will encounter brand-new foes…and he’ll have some help from new friends like Bigfoot and Squeaks the squirrel." Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best.

As for the rest of their announcements, most of it was revealed earlier. Here's the press release issued today:

New Original and Acquired Programming:

Over The Garden Wall: Headlined by an all-star voice-cast that includes Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings Trilogy), Collin Dean (The War at Home) and Melanie Lynskey (Two and a Half Men), Over the Garden Wall is Cartoon Network’s first event mini-series, an animated comedy/fantasy story about two brothers, Wirt and Greg, who are trapped in a mysterious world. In this ten-part mini-series, Wirt and Greg must travel across this strange land until they find their way home, aided by a wise old Woodsman who gives them directions and a bluebird named Beatrice. Music plays an important role in the series with a soundtrack full of Americana-influenced original songs. Over The Garden Wall is created by Pat Mc Hale and produced by Cartoon Network Studios.

Clarence: From creator Skyler Page and premiering Monday, April 14 at 7 p.m., Clarence is a new, original animated series about an optimistic boy who wants to do everything. Because everything is amazing! Clarence was conceived as part of the prolific shorts development program at Cartoon Network Studios, which has resulted in six original series for the network: Regular Show, Uncle Grandpa, Steven Universe, Clarence, Over the Garden Wall and We Bare Bears .

We Bare Bears: We Bare Bears is a comedy about three bear siblings, named Grizzly, Panda and Ice Bear. Each episode follows their awkward attempts at assimilating into human society, whether they’re looking for food, trying to make human friends, or scheming to become internet famous. Whatever the situation, it’s obvious that being a bear in the civilized, modern world is tough—but at least they have each other. Created by Annie Award-winner Daniel Chong (Toy Story of Terror!), We Bare Bears is produced by Cartoon Network Studios.

The Tom and Jerry Show: The iconic cat and mouse rivals are back in The Tom and Jerry Show, a new, fresh take on the classic series. Preserving the look, characters and sensibility of the original, the all-new series shines a brightly colored, high-definition lens on the madcap slapstick and never-ending battle that has made Tom and Jerry two of the most beloved characters of all time. The Tom and Jerry Show is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and will premiere Wednesday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m.

Be Cool Scooby-Doo!: Be Cool Scooby-Doo! is an all-new 22-minute animated comedy series from Warner Bros. Animation. The Scooby gang is back with a modern comedic twist on the beloved classic. With high school over and one last summer to live it up, the gang hits the road in the Mystery Machine, chasing fun and adventure. But monsters and mayhem keep getting in the way.

Wabbit - A Looney Tunes Production: The hilarious, heroic and mischievous Bugs Bunny you love is back! From Warner Bros. Animation, Bugs stars in an all-new series consisting of comedic shorts that find the iconic carrot-loving rabbit matching wits against (and getting the best of) classic characters like Yosemite Sam and Wile E. Coyote. Along the way, Bugs will encounter brand-new foes…and he’ll have some help from new friends like Bigfoot and Squeaks the squirrel.

LEGO NINJAGO: Masters of Spinjitzu: Continuing its robust partnership with The LEGO Group, Cartoon Network will re-introduce viewers to the awesome world of NINJAGO: Masters of Spinjitzu with six new half-hour animated specials in 2014, followed by all-new episodes of the highly popular series slated for 2015.

Sonic Boom: Sonic the Hedgehog has been one of the world's biggest gaming icons for over 20 years and this year a new branch of the Sonic universe debuts, entitled Sonic Boom™. With a new look for Sonic and friends, the franchise’s first-ever CG animated television series, an action-packed comedy adventure, will premiere on Cartoon Network with support from an extensive video game release of the same name. The Sonic Boom television series, coproduced by SEGA of America, Inc. and Oui DO! Productions, will debut on Cartoon Network in the 2014/2015 season.

Total Drama: Pahkitew Island: All-new island! All-new cast! Same old disregard for human safety! The Total Drama series returns as Chris and Chef put the newest generation of contestants through the craziest challenges yet—all for a chance to win one million dollars! Total Drama Island is produced by Fresh TV Inc.

Numb Chucks: Woodchuck brothers Dilweed and Fungus didn’t always see themselves as mystical Kung Fu saviors until they stumbled upon an infomercial featuring mega legend Woodchuck Morris’ mullet-fueled motivational kung-fu video "The Way of the Chuck!" With an endless supply of confidence but a limited supply of brain cells, and countless hours of watching the video, this dimwitted duo transmorph-ified into THE NUMB CHUCKS!

Beyraiderz: Sho, Jin and Leon find themselves trapped on a strange world once defended by the Six Mythic Beasts who upheld justice and brought prosperity for all through the battling Bey Raiderz tournaments. When the Beasts mysteriously disappeared, the world fell into ruin, and now it’s up to Sho and his friends to uncover the hidden Bey Raiderz stadiums, to battle to bring the Beasts back and restore prosperity to the world!

Original "Always On" Programming for Cartoon Network Multiple Digital Platforms:

Angelo Rules (Season 2): For a kid, life can be a daily battle. There are adults, siblings, teachers and rivals telling them what to do, what not to do, what to say... Well, it’s time for kids to take control and Angelo's here to show the way! He observes and then comes up with elaborate strategies to wheedle, sweet-talk, con, and work around any adversary. Season two of this new series comes from Team To and Cake Entertainment.

Detentionaire: Framed for a major prank and punished with a full year of detention, high schooler Lee Ping sneaks out of detention to try to expose who was really behind the prank and avoid being caught by the school’s principal Barrage. After clearing his name, Lee again attempts to sneak out of Barrage’s upgraded detention room, discovering that a strange pyramid under the school has something to do with Lee’s key, the parents council and the blue tazwurms. There is more to the school than meets the eye! Created by animators Daniel Bryan Franklin & Charles Johnston, Detentionaire is distributed by Nelvana.

Rocket Jo: Rocket Jo is an inventor-adventurer: his unique goal is to get his jet-pack to function and send him flying in the air for good… without effect. But his valiant attempts are always a false dawn to viewers' great delight, as there always are failures, gags, explosions, falls, etc. Produced by Millimages and 2D3D, Rocket Jo works hard, drawing upon all his imagination, to make viewers laugh, both children and parents.

I wonder which continuity the new Scooby show is going to be in - that is, if it doesn't make it's own.

No new DC series.

Beware The Batman confirmed as not returning.

Ouch.

More reactions...

Detentionaire is new? Or is it just transferring over from somewhere else? I've never seen it but I could swear it's been around for a little while. Or maybe I'm just crazy.

"Wabbit" looks... interesting. I'm not really sure what they're going for here. I want to think it's more like a Looney Tunes short-esque revival but I keep getting the idea that they're going for something like the 90's Woody Woodpecker show.

"You wear a disguise to look like human guys, but you're not a man, you're a We Bare Bear."

Clarence sounds a lot like Wander Over Yonder.

[up][up][up]It sounds like the new Scooby-Doo show is going to tie into the canon of the TV-budgeted live-action Scooby-Doo movies Cartoon Network has aired for some time now.

Didn't they create The Looney Tunes Show the way it was because they discovered the original humor and style of the shorts that they been trying to emulate in shows and movie before than didn't work anymore?

No new DC shows. It's now official. Action cartoons on CN is dead. Paul Dini and the others should find other work.

Maybe that's part of why they are bringing the new characters, to help shake the formula and make it fresh again? Personally, I'd welcome that idea, even if I'm wary about the execution. Looney Tunes has long suffered from staleness due to the same old cast recycling routines from their glory days, and other than Lola, who is quite divisive, there hasn't been a single 'new' cast member to truly change the dynamics for decades. Unless you're willing to count Cool Cat, Merlin the Magic Mouse and the Monstars. And please, don't do that.

I'm kinda excited for it! If it didn't work for the audiences, it worked for me! I disliked The Looney Tunes Show because it was slower-paced, tamer, boring, domestic, and unfunny. I hope they bring that incarnation of Lola back! She was the funniest character in the show.

EDIT: Nvrmd. I reread the first post and it said the new Scooby-Doo show is animated. Ah well.

Oh boy, I can't help but think of Shaggy And Scooby Doo Get A Clue for the new one, and that really wasn't received well.

Yeah, I hope it isn't that.

Still, I wish Turner would get a clue and try not to rely so much on their decades-old established properties.

"....the BEEEEEEAR that wasn't... wasn't a bear..."

Over The Garden Wall sounds like it will feel different from anything Cartoon Network is airing currently. It sounds like it will be soothing and delightfully fantastical. I think I'll enjoy it.

Eh, at this point Scooby Doo is like a tradition! They say there hadn't been a point in time where Scooby Doo hasn't had a run on tv in some capacity for decades.

Paul Dini and the others should find other work.

Dini has found other work already. He's working with Marvel Animation (and DC comics, occasionally) now.

No third season. Presumably because it's pretty much an action show, and Cartoon Network is allergic to those right now. .... or because they want viewers' attention spans to be directed toward the upcoming movie sequel.

Wasn't Dreamworks going to set its own cartoon/youth channel? Maybe they pulled the franchise to move it there.

Over the Garden Wall: Sounds fantastic. It's been a while since Cartoon Network's had a "prestige" piece (Samurai Jack, definitely, i'd argue the Clone Wars microseries as well).

Clarence: Feels like it could be redundant vis a vis Uncle Grandpa and Steven Universe.

We Bare Bears: Could be gimmicky, could be great, real unknown quantity.

Tom And Jerry Show: It can only get better from Tom and Jerry Tales, right?

Be Cool, Scooby Doo!: Mystery Inc was the first breath of fresh air in the series since "Thirteen Ghosts" and the later feature-length Hannah Barbera movies. Approve

Wabbit: Moving away from the dry domestic comedy of The Looney Tunes Show is definitely a step in the right direction. Introducing "new" characters as they plan could be risky, but could pay off well for the franchise as a whole

Lego, meh

Sonic Boom: From the preview of the TV show, almost looks a little painful. I'm mildly exited for the game, ironically.

Total Drama: All-Stars was a good way to drop the series on a high note. New setting is certainly needed if you're moving forward though, so good luck on that.

Numb Chucks: Just no.

Beyraiderz: Also meh

Some good incremental improvements in the lot, but the only real standout is Over the Garden Wall.

I'm a bit puzzled about Bigfoot, though. Maybe they'll make him somehow related to the Yeti from the old LT cartoons?

Squeaks the Squirrel makes me wish we could see Slappy and Skippy in this thing, but alas...

Wabbit and Sonic Boom interest me, but the rest looks pretty standard issue.

Oh wait, except Over the Garden Wall, that one sounds like a pretty cool idea. (When was the last time CN did a miniseries, anyway?) Hopefully the short-run format will allow the creative staff to tell a tight, cohesive story without the need to set up a world that can carry the show for multiple seasons.

The ones I know will be grand hits are Clarence and Sonic Boom. Over the garden wall sounds like it'll be "Artsy". I like that. Mabey it'll be a yearly deal. But why the Hell is there MORE TDI? Don't they know NO ONE over 12 gives a damn any more?
