"And now, I overlay Parallax Draco and Parallax Aquilas to XYZ summon Number 39: Utopia!"

The two monsters flew into the sky, and once again formed a network, soon enough unleashing a white and gold figure, wielding a sword, the warrior "Utopia" being circled by two golden XYZ Units.

Art looked over his field and then nodded, "And I end my turn, meaning your Metaion returns into your deck."

Ravvas decided this was entirely a little too convenient, and so, with their close distance, he simply grinned and looked Andre over. It felt, to the guest, more like his mind was slowing, that there was some sort of sleepy, dozy feeling settling over him, like he hadn't slept in 48 hours.

Yes...yes...

It was like moving into and out of a trance, each time his resistance to the trance was being beaten down. Hypnosis as a reference came to mind, but this was entirely unwilling, while those hyponotized had to have a will to do what they were being made to do.

"You wouldn't mind swearing a silly little old oath, now would you? Shake a hand? Sign a paper?"

Travis looked at the card he just drew, and chuckled to himself.

"Gehehe… Well, doesn't that just- actually, you know what? I could probably last a few more turns-Hell, I can't completely rule out the possibility that I could still turn this around- but I think I'm done here. Kind of a shame to lose in the first round, but there's nothing shameful about putting up a good fight and then losing on your own terms to the guy who's probably going to win the entire thing."

He placed he card he had just drawn back on top of his deck, and the image of Hell's Strings faded. Travis grinned. "Congrats, Jason, you beat me!"

Jason was a little perturbed that Travis surrendered, but he understood the logic. He smiled and ran up to meet Travis, where he offered up his hand to his opponent.

"Well done mate, good duel. I had fun! And win the entire thing? Nah, you're having me on! But thanks for the compliment anyway."

Travis accepted the handshake warmly. "Gehehe… humility doesn't suit you. After all of that you just showed me, I'm going to a little upset if you go and lose to anyone else."

"I suppose you're right, we Knights are proud folk! And dont you worry, I dont plan on it!" After these words, Jason pulled close to Travis and spoke quietly into his ear.

"So, do you think I can help out you guys now?"

Travis' grin widened slightly. "We'll see," he said, in the same quiet tone. "Ravvas was willing to cheat to give you an advantage. That tells me that he considers you valuable- has a vested interest in you coming out on top. If I knew why, this would be the part where I tell you how you can help, but since I don't, all I can do is ask you to wait until we've gathered more information."

"That said, I'm certainly prepared to consider you an ally. I'd be careful around the other East Academy students if I were you, though- I'm still not completely certain they can be trusted. Especially David Kinrab. Not sure what his deal is, but he's definitely hiding something big."

Jasons grin fell considerably.

"Thats very poignant. During this very duel, I opened up my deck box and found this card: the Green Knight of Lunacy."

Jason pulled out the card and revealed it.

"Youre correct. And if there's anything I can do to help you guys find out information, just let me know."

Andre felt his eyes get heavy and his mind start to slow, he made no attempt to hide a yawn as it left his mouth.

'Well this is slightly continent for him, perhaps I underestimated Ravvis'

"Come Ravvis, where is the trust? I much prefer a verbal contract like what we have now than some silly oath"

'Just a little longer, you're not going to loose your witts that easily'

"Oh, very well, no paper then...just say, say you will, swear you will help me, in any way shape or form, learn about those East Academy kids and thwart Samuel's scheme. So, say it with me..."

It was getting harder to stay awake, and Andre would find it more and more difficult simply to refute him. Ravvas, however, was not moving, and there was nothing moving in the room - it was not hypnosis of some kind.

Ravvas grinned, "Come now, you got no reasons to be the boyscout - not like they'll let you in their club. So just help me so I can help you learn about their activities."

Deep in the crowd of cheering people in the stands, Alex sat looking at his deck in deep thought. He hadn’t placed much of his attention on the two duels going on at the moment, only showing interest when something unexpected or new happened. Alex had his mind focused on the duel he had just seen between Sigmund and Lionel.

Alex only knew Sigmund from short clips on the news channels from home, and from hearing comments and whispers spoken in his short time at East Academy. He was new to this Duel Monsters thing, Alex had only received his deck in the last few months.

“Those decks…they’re not going to be easy to beat with what we’ve got huh?” Alex looked over his shoulder at the spirit that had come to him not long after he had been given his very own deck of cards.

“No, probably not. That Sigmund, he’s one of your new classmates right…?”

“Yeah. I haven’t had much time to actually meet with anyone from the academy yet, it’s only been a few months. I did notice that those others involved in the whole cult thing are in the tournament as well. This’ll be a good chance to actually see them in action.”

Armades surveyed the stadium and all the people standing or sitting around he and Alex for a moment before turning back.

“I see Sigmund up in their stand, we could always take a chance and talk to him you know.”

“Mmm, maybe. Art and…Roxas was it? They’ve got an interesting match on too. Some of those cards that Art’s using have some…Interesting effects. Do you see any of the others around?”

“Not sure. I think that Marcus kid went off somewhere followed by two girls. Maybe looking for someone?”

“They might be easier to find, or harder. Not sure. But Sigmund looks like he’s busy in a conversation doesn’t he. Wouldn’t it be rude to interrupt?”

“Perhaps. But then, maybe they’ll be finished by the time we get there. You never know until you go over there.”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. Very well then, we’ll go see Sigmund and introduce ourselves shall we.”

As Alex spoke he rose from his seat, pocketed his deck and started to walk towards where Sigmund and Crystal were talking.

As he approached, he felt a hand clap him around the shoulder - David gave a rather cheesy grin as he looked at Alex. Yes, this one...he did not remember him well, but just the same, he was still one of the ones he was to watch. Even with Apophis gone, you never know these days. And he could definitely detect some kind of spirit activity on the new guy.

"Hey, new guy, welcome to the club. Looks like you're joining along with numerous others at this point...always good to have a lotta friends."

How he moved through the crowds to get over here was his own little secret, but it looked like the media liked his friendliness with his school mates.

"Oh great, it's that guy.", Crystal thought as she heard David spoke to someone else. "Looks like you were right Sigmund, I shouldn't have tempted fate."

Alex jumped a little when David's hand fell on his shoulder, and it took a second for him to gather his thoughts.

"Um...David right? Hey, yeah it's nice to have friends around, although I'm not sure how the others would feel, what with me being new and all."

Alex grimaced. "Sorry about that, just a little startled, not often someone you've only seen a few times comes up to you like that. Let me start over, names Alex" He extended his hand towards David.

Armades, you could’ve said something about him coming up you know.

“Where’s the fun in that? Plus I didn’t even see him until he was already here.”

You’re supposed to be a an ancient spirit! And a powerful battlemage to boot, not to mention a warrior! Surely you would know to be wary in unfamiliar territory?!!

“Testy aren’t we?”

…Bastard. I just don’t like surprises like this. Although, from what I’ve heard and seen he’s not a bad guy to have around. Friendly, charming when he wants to be and if what some of the other students have said, he’s not one to back down to someone being a prick.

“Oh, do we have a little crush going on here?”

No, just practical thinking…and I’m going to hurt you for that if I can ever figure out how to hit you! Wait…did he say joining?

“At the hip.”

…So dead.

Denero is...around I guess. He might bump into David and the others or somethin'.

Geeziz it feels like we've been stuck here for months...

David looked at the new guy, seeming to grin at the sight - almost like he could see something going on inside of their newest ally. Though, it did look like things were progressing well in this tournament. Art was duelling his little crush, and now it seemed they were getting ready to force the issues they had with either Ravvas or Samuel.

Either way, it was a good day.

"Don't worry, the guys around here are pretty accepting, well, usually. Just make sure you watch for people's buttons."

Alarm bells suddenly rang in Marcus's mind as he felt his partner stir in shock.

Marcus, get to Ravvas's office NOW!

What!?

I've been monitoring Ravvas and those other two ever since that meeting. Just now I felt Ravvas trying to breach Andre's mind, we need to stop him.

"Right."

With a quick "If you'll excuse me." to his two companions, Marcus took of down the halls, running towards the office, as he passed several other people, he noticed David talking to another boy he didn't recognise.

"Ravvas's office! Now!" he snapped at David, not even slowing down.

David disentangled himself and started running after Marcus, ruminating to himself that it felt like forever since he was able to do something. And all too fitting that he'd be making life a little difficult for Ravvas.

Poking around where you don't belong...tsk tsk tsk...we can't have that.

As he followed Marcus up there, he wondered how the guy intended to confront Ravvas...

What the...

Alex watched as Marcus and David ran off, heading...somewhere.

Ravvas. Wasn't that the one that set this tournament up?

Yeah. Wonder what's got them riled up?

Could be anything. Can't go making assumptions about it beyond the fact that those two are concerned about something.

We gonna follow them?

Tempting, but no. Best keep our guard up though, something about the way the looked just now...

So, we going to head towards Sigmund and the girl he was talking to?

Yeah. We'll introduce ourselves at least. After that...We'll see where things lead eh.

With that, Alex headed further towards Sigmund and Crystal, covering up his confusion at David and Marcus's behavior with a slight, friendly (he hoped) smile.

"Hey, Sigmund and Crystal right? Name's Alex. I've heard a bit about you from others back at the Academy." Alex spoke as he stopped a few feet away from the two and looked back at the duel.
