Yugioh East Academy II

Crowd.

"Excuse me."

Turning his gaze away from the dueling field, Marcus looked around to see the blond tournament organiser who had registered their decks walking up towards them.

"So sorry to bother you, but I have a small offer you may wish to hear." He said "Mr Ravvas and I have a large viewing platform at the top of the arena if you would like to join us. We would be honoured to have you and you'll be able to get a much better view of the battle's below. Plus we'l be serving drinks."

The white-haired girl stood still, even when the three monsters's attacks hit her. (6000 -> 700)

"Anything else you want to do or are you going to end your turn ?"

Sigmund's eyes and tone hardened "I didn't tell you at the time as you were a civilian non combatant and I didn't want to involve anyone who wasn't involved. If I had told you what would you have done? Come rushing over to Israel so that you can support me? I KNOW you, you would have tried to involve yourself and we had already had one person die and I had no intent on loosing someone I care about. I didn't tell you afterwards because everything had happened and thus it was no longer relevant."

He looked at the man "I'm sorry but I have to decline as I'm talking to these two one being my family the other being an old friend. Therefore and thusly, I'm sorry but I have to say no."

"Oh, please excuse me then." Samuel said. Stepping back politely. "Though if you wish to come in your own time, your sister and your friend are welcome to join us."

Alicia gritted her teeth. Eventually lettng out a sound midway between a sigh and a growl.

"Fine." She said. "But you are telling me everything when we get the chance." She looked over to Samuel. "Not now though."

"I can leave if you want." Samuel said.

"Actually, yeah, I do. I overlay my two monsters into Lavalval Chain." The sea serpent of lava took form on Mort's field, roaring as its overlay units circulated around it.

Next to the ARK, it looked fearsome.

Art looked over at Sigmund, watching what was going on both in the duel and with Ravvas' friend's offer. He did not like it, for some reason. There was just something odd about the deal.

For now, he just sat back and watched the duel. It looked like Crystal was at the end of her rope.

Ravvas restrained himself while Jason was in his presence, but he felt a feeling of relief seeing that Mort was going this direction. It meant that the duel was almost over.

He would not have to promote Gustos.

His secrets were safe.

"I then detach Mezuki from my Lavalval Chain to send another Mezuki from my deck to the graveyard." Lavalval grasped one of its overlay units and then breathed lava into the centre of the arena, a card floating up from the hole burned in the floor and then flying into Mort's graveyard.

"I then play Rank Up Magic Limited Barian's Force, which lets me upgrade Chain into Number C69 - Heraldry Crest of Horror."

A massive stream of energy opened under the Chain, which resulted in the appearance of a gold and black, dragon-like creature with wings and two large antlers. Its roar shook the arena [4000/1800].

"And now its your move."

Once again, Crystal drew a card and sighed. "Well, I guess it's over for me.", she thought.

"I set another card then end my turn."

• LP: 700.
• Monsters: None.
• S/T: 3 Set.
• Field: Shrine of Mist Valley.

Mort drew for his turn, and briefly whispered an apology before pointing forward, and Heraldry Crest of Horror breathed out a bright golden flame-like blast from its maw at Crystal.

Ravvas was at the edge of his seat. Could this be it...? Was he in the clear...?

Megala smirked and adjusted her glasses. She had made the right choice for opponents. Now if trends continued, the heroes of East Academy would be vanquished by their opposite number in Heroic Lineage.

Whatever happened next was up to someone else.

Art watched enrapt, he had not expected that the Heroic Lineage duelist would actually be that good, in truth, he had looked at them similarly to the better funded but ultimately show offish team from those sports movies.

Now he had to re-evaluate their opponents. This guy was more tough than the guyliner and emotive poetry would suggest.

Art looked over at Sigmund and the others. First round and this happens...it was kind of painful.

David, however, despite his displays of attraction to Crystal back during the events involving Apophis, just seemed nonchalant about the whole thing. As if he was evaluating everything by the play.

Samuel raised an eyebrow at the development.

"Congratulations to Mr Veidt it would seem."

he returned his attention to the group.

"I'll be returning to my box now. As I said, all of you are welcome to join me."

With Heraldry Crest of Horror's attack, Crystal's Life Points were finally reduced to zero, thus ending the duel with her loss. Despite this, she did not seem to mind.

"Well, the result is just as I expected.", she thought as she picked up the cards in her graveyard and spell and traps zone and put them back into her deck.

"It was a nice duel. Good luck for the rest of the tournament.", she said before walking away from the site of the duel.

Jason frowned, the duel was decidedly LESS spectacular than he had imagined. Ah well, maybe he'd get a chance to duel next. He turned around to face the others in the room.

"Hey there! Mind if I go next? My knights are surely itching for a fight!" Artorigus winced at Jason's words, but kept silent.

Graeme remained silent. Not even acknowledging the child as he maintained his "At rest" posture.

Travis expression remained a fixed grin until he saw how Crystal reacted to the loss. Then it became a scowl. After considering things for a moment, he stood up, picked up his flag, and began to walk off.

"I'm gonna go catch up with her," he announced. "I'm sure she'll need some confronting after that, and, to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure she'd appreciate it from you guys."

Stones nudged his commentary partner.

"I believe you owe me a steak."

Denero scowled a bit at Mort.

Oh well. I'll just beat his face in when it's my turn!

He quickly followed Crystal and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey that was a great duel. You did good."

It looked like the way opened so that the two teams could speak to their member who just finished dueling. Over with Team Heroic Lineage, Lionel, Alphus and Robert all congratulated their victorious friend;

"You did great out there."

"Nice going, man! I was worried for a little, but you really showed everyone your stuff here!"

"Pfft...I would've done her in in three turns. But still...nice going."

Mort supposed that Robert complimenting him was a rare thing, even though it involved more of Robert's prickly behaviours. The boy did blush as pictures were taken. His team had won in Round 1, but it was clear that the next matches were going to be very interesting.

Meanwhile, Ravvas was barely concealing the fact he was absolutely elated by Crystal's loss. The little Gusto player did not seem to be very in this, so he was fortunate in that regard. He just needed to make sure his horse won in other duels too, and with Jason here, that got easier.

The next duels...yes. He had organized this well. Regardless who won between Marcus and Denero, someone was out of the running from their little team. He could already see what he needed to do.

He turned to look at Jason, "I am sorry, but it appears that your match will be...against whoever wins between Marcus and Denero. Both are extremely talented duelists, though, and have records due to their heroic acts in the East Academy, so you can definitely look forward to that."

He looked over at Megala and gestured for her to leave to go do her thing.

Subject Evaluation: Crystal Riviere

Age: 18

Deck: Gusto

Tactics: Unknown, insufficient data.

Evaluation and Recomendation: Subject seems to be suffering from a mild form of depression due to past trauma. Recommend not resorting to psychological warfare, as such actions seem redundant at this point. Solitary personality presents unique advantage. Suggest having Balthezar take her during blitz.

Art looked over at Sigmund and stated, "I remember seeing the displays of who'll be duelling who, and it looks like you're gonna be up against one of the more famous people in that group."

Art gestured over toward the celebrating Team Heroic Lineage, and at a stoic figure among them. Lionel seemed to only slightly brighten up even when his friend had won. Though it was not due to a lack of care or interest - it appeared he was simply a perpetually stoic individual.

"I've heard of him. On the pro circuit, they call him The Dark Angel, but in America, they call him The Lion. In the vast majority of his duels, he only rarely took any more than 1200 damage."

Marcus calmly made his way over to the duel arena, it was safe to say he'd been looking forward to this duel.

As he approached the battlefield, he saw Mort walking towards him on his way back from the crowd.

"Congratulations on your victory." He said politely. "It would certainly be interesting to duel you, however since you will be facing Sigmund in the second round, that's not going to happen."

He continued towards the dueling arena.

Lionel walked forward, looking Marcus over, and stating, "Unless certain trends continue from this point. However, I'll wait till the last card is played to ascertain who will win. I consider it a matter of morality to not try to play the prophet - those who do only end up making themselves look presumptuous."

Up above, Ravvas' voice played out from a loudspeaker, "Tres Bien...Tres Bien! An excellent duel by Mort and Crystal, truly a champion-level contest. Now, the next battle will commence, though with a caveat - there will be two following duels as our final matches for today, a tasteful morsel, a gift from me to you, my audience!"

"First, we have Sigmund, the emergent hero from the East Academy, dueling against the twenty time champion of six circuits, the victorious lion...Lionel Erris!"

A large, old styled arena, much like those seen in the old Duelist Kingdom age, arose from the floor, Lionel walking forward slowly toward this stage. He awaited Sigmund once he got to his side of the arena.

Likewise, another of the large, old styled arenas rose up from the floor, and Ravvas narrated, "Battles between close friends can often be the most intense, so shall we see who burns brightest!? Next we have the friends from Duel Academy, Marcus and Denero!!"

Cheers erupted from the crowd.

Jason frowned, but smiles nonetheless.

"Ive always wanted to be in the East Academy, ah well. As long as I can get some good duelling in, Im good!" Artorigus merely facepalmed.

"Oh, you will." Ravvas stated, looking down at the duellists from his perch. Everything was going according to plan now. The Gusto thing had been smoothed out, but still, he wouldn't put it past Megala to do something.

He looked over at his aide, and told her, "Make sure everything's in order."

"Yes, sir." She looked over at Jason, and asked, "Would you like another drink?"

Up in the announcers booth, Lucas calmly handed Phil some money from the lost bet.

Marcus.

Marcus studied the cards he had drawn with an expressionless look.

(*Cue Attack on Titan OST 08: DOA*)

"Well then Mr. Potenza. As you and your partner are so fond of saying: Show me your aggresion!"

Denero may go first.

Upon sensing Denero's hand on her shoulder, Crystal turned around in order to face her fellow student.

"Uh, yeah. I mostly did what I could with the cards in my hand. Anyway, I believe it's your turn now, isn't it ?"

Sigmund shrugged and looked at Alicia "Sure I'll tell you all about this later. Now though I have a duel."

As Sigmund went to his duel Sigmund walked past Crystal and said "You did well, You weren't going into an easy situation and you made the best of it." He continued walking "Wish me luck"

Sigmund walked into the Arena and looked at Lionel "It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Sigmund Diabola at your service." He nodded his head "Well then, shall we give them a show to remember?"

"Nah, Im good thanks," Jason smiled politely, deciding that he was content enough for now. Despite himself, he couldnt help feeling somewhat uneasy and anxious about something. It was probably nothing...

"Yeah. Hey uh.. Good luck with your duel." Alicia said.

....

As Sigmund shuffled his deck however, he noticed something out of the corner of his eye...

It was that guy again. He was sitting in the front row and Sigmund could somehow tell that beneath the dark hood, the man's gaze was fixed firmly on HIM.

Announcer's

Lucas: And he we go with a special Double Duel to keep things moving! My partner Phil and I will be covering the duel between Lionel Erris and Sigmund Diabola. I gotta say Phil, I don't think I've EVER seen a more mismatched duel in all my life. Here we have Lionel Roberts a world class champion duelist, and Sigmund Diabola who, if my information is correct, didn't even make it past the first round of the last tournament he fought in! I'm sorry mate, but my money is NOT gonna be on the new guy.

Lionel nodded, and replied in kind, "I am Lionel Erris, a pleasure to meet you here."

With that, the same show from the duel with Crystal began, ending up giving Denero and Lionel the first turn.

Lionel drew for his turn and stated, "I am going to begin by activating the spell card Trade-In, which gives me two cards in exchange for a Level 8 monster in my hand."

He discarded Darklord Zerato, and then looked over his hand. "I set two cards face down and end my turn."

Lunac, his name is Lionel Erris. Do you need to write it down?

Andre had stayed in the crowed with Sigmunds visitors, feeling the drama that was unfolding here would be much more to his taste than whatever was going on in the viewing platform. leaning back in to his chair, he began to eagerly watching the start of the new matches.

"Alice right?" He spoke softly "this may not be my place, but from what little I know of Sigmunds activeties, he was doing what was right, and had he not who knows maybe none of us would be here to enjoy this show" he then quickly flashed both girls a grin through as a strand of long black hair fell neatly in front of his face "and that truly would be a shame, wouldn't it?"
