I must thank you all. Without you there probably wouldn't be any hope left to defend what should be kept hidden from both good and evil.

I am the last man from the kingdom of Ipsum. My name has been lost to the chronicles of history eons ago and as current events show it's not going to be remembered. Ipsum, the mythical land of wisdom and beauty, unharmed by foul presences for so long. We used to be a civilization, prosperous and growing at a steady pace, on pleasant terms with other races that inhabited - or in some cases, still inhabit - the Earth.

At some point however, a... thing known as Abyss put an end to this. Nobody quite knows why and nobody has researched the matter since the fall of Ipsum. It wiped out its inhabitants, but left the land unharmed. The potential of a pinnacle of knowledge ever achievable for a race of mortal beings. Capable of doing great good... or great harm.

That is why I have summoned you here, warriors of the multiverse. I do not ask for revenge nor miracle: those will change nothing. What I want is balance. Beings of evil wish to unlock the potential of Ipsum, unaware of consequences this might have. After all, Abyss and its peons still linger in the ruins and I am not capable of stopping them if they find a way to breach the gate between realms, neither of them. Stop the lesser evil from unlocking the one that dwarfs it.

That is all I ask.

All

Multidimensional travels usually involve some sort of a surprise that can catch even the one who perceives themselves as a veteran off guard.

This time there was seemingly not a single one. Apart from the voice of the man heard in minds of all that were summoned by his deed, nothing was out of the ordinary for a given value of ordinary: it was a simple room with plastic chairs arranged in a circle so everybody could see everybody. While it seemed like it fills the entire space available, every now and then a new chair appeared, however empty. No doors. No windows. Just a flashbulb weakly enlightening the situation to the best of its ability.

A nervous, awkward silence was filling the atmosphere of the room. Who would be first to speak out?

Get some interaction with each other before the official division into teams.

A completely ordinary room. Or at least, it would seem like one for a person of the modern era. For a girl from a farming community of Hyrule, the environment she found herself in was utterly alien. Barren white walls, chairs made of a strange material and an orb of light hanging from the roof.

Link let out a soft gasp of surprise as she suddenly finds herself in such a ragtag and mix matched company. All sitting in a circle, facing one another. Thankfully, nobody would be able to see the expression befuddlement in her face as she looked around... she had to thank her mask for that. She didn't say a word, nor did she rise from her seat... to do so would look rather awkward when everyone was sitting.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

She felt the silence crescendo, like violent thrashings underwater. Behind her bandaged lips she suppressed the urge to scream. Her pointed ears begged for noise; the way they once did not too long ago, spending lightless and nightless days within her forfeited castle.

No more. She refused to stand by and witness another second. Taking a seat amidst the circle, she crossed her limbs and asked in an alto voice:

"So. Where should we begin?"

The boy in the green bodysuit, after realizing where he was, leaped to his feet. He struck a pose, pumping his fist and furrowing his brows in determination.

"YOSH! We must introduce ourselves! I am Rock Lee, the handsome devil of the Leaf Village! Hello, my fellow warriors!" Said Lee, giving a thumbs up and a smile - a smile so bright it literally sparkled - to the assembled multiversal travelers.

Ami had gone along with the Man of Ipsum's request because it felt like the right thing to do, just another situation where someone's been fooled by a greater evil to do their dirty work. But as the situation was further explained within her dream, it became eerily similar to her own past-her past from 1,000 years ago, anyway. Ipsum was the Silver Millenium, and the Abyss was Metallia. But what did that make her, a new pawn for another endless battle? Was she once again doomed to live and fight and die for some grand destiny?

But then again, the man only said that the lesser evil had to be stopped, so if the greater one was never released at all...Well, Ami would just have to trust that he wasn't lying.

She appeared in a chair suddenly, sitting in a bland room in a circle of others who also must have been brought here. She felt strangely underdressed wearing only her Sailor Senshi suit compared to the rest of them all. Ami was so used to going around in public like that, it had never occured to her that it might seem weird to people from other places until just now. Oh well, at least it wasn't her sleeping clothes. She was thankful when the androgynous ninja in purple finally broke the awkward silence.

Ami agreed with what Rock Lee suggested. There wasn't exactly anything else to do. She stood up and gave a short bow to the rest of the group. "My name is Sailor Mercury, and I'm from Tokyo, Japan. It's a pleasure to meet you all," she said, smiling at Lee.

Well, that was a way to break the ice. The red eyed man opened things up with a calm voice... there was something about them that felt somewhat familiar... she could have sworn she'd seen the symbol on his clothes somewhere, however, the boy in the green jumpsuit with some funny eyebrows truly did manage to start things up. His cheerfulness and sheer energy was infectious even if it was a bit ridiculous. However, it did help clear Link's head and gave her the courage to speak up after the girl wearing a short skirt "I am Link. A traveler and warrior from Lordo. I was asked to help a world in danger... and that way, my own would be saved. However, I don't know just where we are now"

A room, too clean for his liking,it reminds him of Zaun enemy state, piltover, and the chair lacks the finesse of the ones in his laboratory.

No matter, the meeting of these new allies was more important than reminding of the past, for after he returns, the glorious evolution shall rise in a new era for all of valoran.

"I am Viktor, the machine herald of Zaun, and guider to the glorious evolution"

He said, introducing himself cold and mechanical.

Kaarness shook his head dazedly. One moment, he was standing in a secluded spot in one of Nar Shadaa's seedier cantina with his droid T7-O1, having experienced a vision just moments before, and in the other he found himself sitting on a plastoid chair facing a motley collection of people.
The assembled people began introducing themselves; one was a youngster in a jumpsuit calling himself 'Rock Lee', who seemed like some sort of martial artist — perhaps a practitioner of Teräs Käsi; another was a girl called Sailor Mercury — obviously a pseudonym — who wore and outfit that reminded the Jedi of a tame dancer's clothes; there was also a girl wearing green from a planet he never heard of; and the last one looked more machine than man.
Kaarness got up and bowed politely. “I am Kaarness, a Jedi Knight of the Galactic Republic.”

The Devil Hunter himself had appeared in the world of white that everyone probably didn't take much of a liking to. Why did the man answer this call? Few reasons. Dante's already had a run in with another 'realm' back in his world. Demon Realm which it is appropriately called. There's nothing but trouble there. Monsters that want to destroy the world, devour the flesh of the innocent and just terrorize humans completely. After the fiasco with the "Order of the Sword", it was time that Dante started nipping these threats in the bud.

"The name's Dante." he gave a little salute while he put his feet up on a makeshift stool. "I run the Devil May Cry, take on any job that comes my way just to pay the bills." And the debts. But he leaves that part out. He puts both hands behind hs head while still reclining.

The green-clad boy dropped her guard, but the green-hatted one froze her blood. Link?! What was he doing here? Better yet, if he was here, why had she been summoned? Link, the Hero chosen by the gods, rescued Hyrule from destruction almost by himself. He could dodge any trap with his myriad of gadgets. He could face—and had faced—an army of bokoblins and stand victorious. Miracles seemed to sprout from the lad's bloody footsteps; so why was he not alone?

Something was wrong. She had never heard Link speak, but this voice seemed...higher, than she imagined; it sounded too feminine for her kingdom's savior. Then there was this "Lordo" place; true, she never learned exactly where the hero came from, but with all her education, she had never heard of a land by that name. She had learned from personal experience that her Hyrule was only one of the realms the gods created; perhaps this hero hailed from another Hyrule, in another world. It may benefit her later to expose her doubts, but for now, she kept her own counsel. Whether this familiar stranger was a mutation, a perversion, or a fraud, remained to be seen.

In the meantime, she felt inclined to introduce herself.

"Call me Sheik," she said without stirring. "I am the last of the Sheikah tribe, warriors sworn to protect the Royal family of Hyrule."

When I first heard the voice from the man of Ipsum, I thought it was a hallucination. That I had finally broke under the strain of the nightmares I had seen. As time went on, I realized this may have been the real thing. Or at least if I humoring it, it could not really hurt me. I agreed to help the man, readying myself before I felt the familiar pull of dimensional travel.

While not as... horrifying as a trip through a hell gate, I still felt winded by the experience. The first thing I noticed when my senses came back to me was that I was in a white room. Sitting in one of those cheap, plastic, folding chairs. The kind that aren't very comfortable when you have a backpack of supplies and about seven different weapons hanging off of you. I looked around to get my bearings, and found myself among the strangest group of people I have ever seen. What kind of ragtag group of asshats was this?

"I thought this would be a military group, not a costume party" I grunted as I removed some of the load off my back so I could actually sit with some level of comfort. That they were handing out names and little descriptors only added to how unprofessional this group was. The kid in the green jumpsuit, who was very loud both vocally and in personality, was a particular offence. That didn't even mention the white haired punk or what looked to be a teenager in a leotard and mini-skirt. I could only be thankful my helmet blocking any looks of disgust or disappointment as I looked over the other fighters

"If you need a name, I go by Doomguy," After my ventures into Hell I felt much less safe in handing out my name to strangers. Demons on earth made the chance of voodoo and other dark magic look much more plausible. "not that I expect any of you to make it past the first wave"

Well, at least I haven't gone insane.

Kaarness turned to the self-styled Doomguy. “I know not what sort of waves you are talking about,” he said quietly, “but I assure you I will survive them, for the Force is my ally, and with its might at my side nothing is undefeatable.”

At Sheik's answer, the mysterious warrior would notice how Link shifted their head, the masked face now staring straight in their direction. That may give Link an appearance of careful contemplation or analysis... quite a better impression than Link's actual expression which was one of both surprise and worship.

So that's where she knew the Emblem from! The ancient tribe which in Legend looked after the Royal Family, the mighty Sheikah! The Eye was their emblem and members of their mysterious lineage showed up in even the most ancient of stories about the ever developing legend of the Hero of Hyrule. To be faced with such an incredible individual was a true surprise and honor to Link.

Joseph blinked hard as he tried to get acquainted with the room he now found himself in. It wasn't much, to say the least. In fact, it was distinctly underwhelming. He wondered briefly if he'd been knocked out by some street thug and the "man from Ipsum" was just a hallucination before he went under. Idly fiddling with his striped scarf, the Hamon user took a look at those who were currently occupying the other cheap seats.

Though some of them had interesting style choices, Joseph felt that none of them really compared with his own tastes in fashion. Undoubtedly, however, they were from very different worlds from his own - some of them looked like they wouldn't be out of place in a medieval setting, whilst others appeared to be straight from a science fiction film. Speaking of whom, he bristled slightly at 'Doomguy''s barbed comment.

Biting back the verbal riposte already rising in his throat - he wanted to get off to a good start - Joseph got up and said, "Tch. For someone whose world is in danger he doesn't know how to make a good first impression... where's the pizazz? The adoring crowds?" His serious expression melted to be replaced by an altogether goofier one. "Doesn't matter anyway, he's probably got more important things to worry about. Joseph Joestar, at your service!"

"Now how about we all try to get along?" He nodded to Rock Lee. "I like your attitude - it's always good to look on the bright side of life!"

Upon finding himself in the room, Lucas was simply lost. He saw a lot of people in there, most of which were very different from what he had seen and considering how many strange things the boy had seen in his own quest, that was saying something. Some of them looked really intimidating while others looked... All right.

The boy sat on one of the chairs, fiddling with a simple stick taken from a tree. Everybody was introducing themselves, but Lucas couldn't bring himself to talk, even if he opened his mouth it was likely that nothing would come out due to how nervous he was, instead, he opted to just watch and listen to everyone else and know if some of them were as bad as they looked or not.

The most beautiful and delicate Princess Peach, clad in a long, pink flowing dress embroidered with elegant designs shuffled a bit in her seat, blinking shyly. She looked around the room curiously, at the other guests. She was quite scared of being in this strange, new place, not sure exactly what was going on, but she tried to not let that show on her face. She turned to the scared little boy who sat next to her, Lucas, and smiled at him sweetly.

"Hi there! My name is Peach, and it's very nice to meet you."

She giggled and patted Lucas on the head.

"Would anyone care for some tea? It usually calms my nerves and we can't have a friendly gathering without tea. That just wouldn't do!"

Peach was too focused on speaking and presenting herself to really pay attention to who was also in the room. In particular, one of the other guests would be someone she would be very familiar with, and if she had been paying attention a bit more, she certainly wouldn't be as happy as she was now.

Lee gave another thumbs up and smile (known to his friends and colleagues of the Leaf as the "Nice Guy" pose) to Joesph. He liked this man, both because he seemed so similar to Guy-sensei and because of how simply energetic he was. From his muscles, Lee guessed he was his world's equivalent to a Taijutsu specialist as well. Clearly this was a man he would be honored to fight alongside.

"Yes! The Springtime of Youth burns brightest in those with the brightest flames!" He said, loudly and happily.

On the opposite side of Peach, there stood a hulking giant with a spiked shell stand upright, with his arms crossed. He looked around at the people in the room as they introduced themselves one by one. All of which looked weaker and weaker as they introduced themselves. He scowled and breathed an annoyed sigh, with a bit of fire and smoke coming out of his mouth from the sigh. He stepped forward and beat a fist in his chest.

"Bowser." he simply said as he introduced himself to the group. "King of all Koopas. Nice to meet you and all that jazz..." he half-heartedly added. He wished inside that this thing would be over with already.

The Princess's happy, bubbly face suddenly transformed into a look that was a mix of shock, disgust and embarrassment as the Koopa King who sat directly across from her introduced himself to the group. The hulking, dinosaur-turtle king was a very familiar site to her, and she had to stop herself from screaming out in a gasp at his arrival.

"B-Bowser!? What are you doing here?!"

Lucas was still a bit uncomfortable, but at least Peach seemed to be a kind person, that helped him feel more at ease in that strange room filled with strange people.

"H-Hi... My name is-"

Lucas was then interrupted by Bowser's introduction and Peach's reaction to him. Looking at Bowser he saw that he clearly wasn't a human, but at the same time he couldn't think of any animal it could be other than a turtle mixed with... A dragon maybe? Was that a chimera? He seemed to be intelligent, unlike the others he had met in his adventure, but in any case, Peach's reaction to him made it clear that he wasn't good news. Lucas kept a strong grip on his stick as if he was ready for a fight, though he kept sitting and avoiding eye contact with everyone.

"Now that you mention it, this place does lack anything I'd call life." Dante added on to Joseph's criticsms of the room. He's right, there's absolutely nothing here besides furniture and the people summoned by the mysterious man of Ipsum. "Could've spent some money on some party favors for the Welcome Party but no, guess the guy is too cheap for that." the Devil Hunter shrugged while looking to the pink-dressed woman known as Peach. "Alright, I'll take you up on that offer, Princess." He could go for a spot of tea! It's not Pizza or a Sundae, yeah, but hey, it's something to drink.

Then all of a sudden that big turtle appeared. Seems the princess girl was shocked to see him. Instead of making a remark, he opted to watch.

Swish.

Light. Colour. Noise. The sound of a protesting mass of air crying out that they quite liked where they were, thank you very much, and didn't want to be rudely displaced by the arrival of a human like thing-

Woosh.

-The strained light of a single lightbulb cast a weak purple glint over a pair of elaborately curved glaives, scarred with the chips and dents of a thousand battles fought and won, and a robe of some kind, lovingly crafted and modified into a padded suit of leather armor-

In a sudden kaleidoscopic burst of blue light, another figure stepped out from somewhere easily and wheeled himself around onto the nearest chair, sitting and trying to size up the situation as best he could before hefting one of his glaives in his hands, spinning it easily and looking with a disapproving eye towards the rest of the growing, yet equally motley, crowd.

"The one named Ipsum hast called, and I hast answered. Their magics end hither. The rest of you need not waste your talents on such a job- only I shineth the light into the darkness."
