Sound off about the long-running abnormal show on [adult swim] here.

(Since it has a tradition of changing its title every season, I'd like to consider this a general thread for discussions about the world of ATHF. Because despite the constant title changing, it's still essentially the same show, right?)

Well, not the Willie Nelson, but my name is Willie Nelson.

Juice! (Carl screams). What? You guys want some juice?

FOR THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF YEARS...

I wasted so much of my teenage years watching this show...

Honestly? The thing is that it's just so absurd that I laugh like crazy.

I laugh at:

  • Carl's "count the bullets" scene.
  • The orange Plutonian's accent.
  • The scenes with Shake's sentient muscles in Season 10, episode 1.
  • Meatwad's rant speech from when he was "pregnant".
  • The Plutonians in general.
  • And a lot of random crud that I can't describe right now.

So yeah, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. So absurd, I can't stop laughing at it.

I really like that for every new series now they have a completely different, fluidly animated, artistic opening sequence with a sweet new theme-song.

The newest one's my favourite.

I stopped watching right before they started doing that title-changing stuff. Should I try to get back into it? Is it too different now?

I don't think it's that different. I haven't watched every season, but of the ones I've seen I like the first three and the very last one (Aqua TV Show Show) the best.

A quote that still haunts me: "Well, I'm just glad that you finally accepted some responsibility—in the most assed way possible."

Aaaaaaand the linked video's gone.

If one searches You Tube right now though (make sure to set the "Set by" filter to "Upload date") you can see a couple of videos with the episode, though.

Just saw and downloaded it, it's a bit unfinished in terms of minimal/lack of animation of the characters in the middle of the episode. Also has some —what I find to be— pretty funny digs against the whole ideal; although that's the entire reason why it got banned. :v

Considering the episode was never aired, I imagine it wouldn't be long until someone somehow leaks the uncensored version of South Park's 201 episode, considering that episode was censored / aired only once due to similar circumstances.

Just saw it. Yup, it was definitely an unfinished episode.

An actually funny unfinished episode.

Guy: Look, seriously, it's just a light.

Baseball player guy: No, you look seriously! It's a fucking bomb!

Cop: Boston is safe now!

Frylock: But we're in New Jersey.

Cop: Boston is near New Jersey. (Beat) And now they're both safe.

[lol]

More "Boston" quotes:

Shake: One man's pain is another man's gain!

Coach: IT'S A BOMB!

Other guy: Guy, it's a freaking light.

Coach: Guy! It's a motherfucking cocksucking bomb!

Other guy: It's a freaking light!

Coach: BOMB!

Other guy: LIGHT!

Coach: BOMB!

Other guy: LIGHT!

Coach: BOMB!

Other guy: LIGHT!

Coach: BOMB!

Other guy: LIGHT!

Yaaaaaaaay...

This show put some things in my head when I was a yung'in, things yung'in's needn't think about or talk about in class. That, and one of this show's advertising gimmicks got the previous CN president to resign and kicked off years of pish-posh entertainment (and CN Real IIRC) and the death of several of my favorite cartoons. There was a time when I simply disliked this show, but since then, I've held a bit of a grudge.

And then it seemed to be immortal, coming back with new titles and new seasons when things I liked got cancelled, when Futurama and Big O got canceled. And I'm like "Why?" Why is this still on the air? Why is Squidbillies still on, is there some large, MLP-sized fandom for this? Someone later answered that it's because this kind of animation is incredibly cheap.

But, so as not to be entirely vitriolic, I want to say it's impressive to last as long as this show did.

I won't be sad to see it go. More afraid of what will be produced in its wake...

You know, Carl has to be one of my favorite animated characters in a while. That fat man with a natural coat has some of the best lines in the show.

Aww, well I'm gonna miss it. I'd say it had a good run, even if it had undergone some seasonal rot in its later years and was responsible for the whole Boston Bomb Scare thing.

Finale was last night. Not the best ending they could have went with, but I feel it had an appropriate climax with Meatwad growing up

I thought it was good, but I really wished Frylock could have lived. After all Meatwad went through, only for him to leave the stupid Jewel right on the same planet, was such a dumb way to kill him off. Still, I'm glad Meatwad Got to live a nice, happy life after all the torture he suffered in his "childhood".

I must've missed an episode or two, though, because I didn't see the episode where They fought MC Pee Pants for the last time. What was that episode like? Was it any good?

Also, wild mass guessMeatwads' Crystal was the one that kept bringing people back to life. If he had kept it, then Shake and Frylock would have just come back to life later on and everything would've been fine.

Nice finale. Despite how unexpected an ending like that was for a show like this, I think it worked very well.
