For several months now (since September 2013, to be precise), I've been messaging editors who make new trope or work pages, giving advice on indexing, crosswicking and the like, as well as reporting problem pages in the YKTTW Crash Rescue topic.

In the process, I've been asked several times to explain the indexing mechanism, because our page on it is apparently not very clear on this - and looking at the page, I can't really disagree.

Thus, I've written Sandbox.Indexing as a rewrite proposal for the indexing page and received one positive reply already. Hereby, I am proposing the sandbox to the wiki community - what does it think?

Well, given the support expressed here as well as the comment here, I went ahead and switched my proposed writeup in and cutlisted the sandbox.
