Lovecraft Beareau interest check/sign ups

It is the 1965 and the Cold War is in full swing, the Americans against the soviets. And then, something happened. It occurred in 1963, when a group of Soviets discovered a secret Nazi base, empty except for strange growth, however, they were all massacred by unseen foes, this was followed by an increase in strange happenings, cities disappearing, this reached a peak in 1963 when in Tunguska, a large beast was seen. In response, the world powers combined, forming The Combined World Defense Beareau, a secret organization dedicated to combatting these threats.

Welcome to the Lovecraft beareau, somewhat based off of Xcom, however, you won't be fighting aliens, you are going to combat the forces of the elder gods, the Colour from space, Deep ones, the Hounds of tindalos, you name it. Basically, a cosmic horror, noir, sci-fi rp.

  • Equipment: Yes, this is the fun part. You can use time era appropriate weapons, along with, of course, lightning guns and such, though I'm saying no to, say mech suits, and orbital strike cannons. Also, keep in mind that your character is carrying all this.

◦Appearance: A wizened old man with a long nose, poofy white hair, and a rather mean look, with greyish eyes.

◦Personality: Toymakers psych profile notes a mild amount of instability, manifesting itself as rampant paranoia, delusions of grandeur, and rather eccentric behavior (See page 32 of Psych Profile, page title, 'the Waffle/Deep One incident). Luckily, all this behavior is somewhat harmless. Deeply curious, he frequently performs in field ops to test his gear and gather specimens, indicating either suicidal tendencies or a extreme thrill seeking personality.

-Acquired his medical license at 25

-Married at 30, Divorced at 35, his wife a Austrian woman named Helga, current whereabout unknown, presumed to be living in Vienna at current date. Reason for divorce was listed as 'neglect'

-Was prescribed pills for depression by a fellow psychiatrist 4 months after the divorce.

-Moved to America in 36, due to a growing disgust at his country and the Nazi Party, found a job with the government as a auditor

-After America joined the war, he was recruited for project Messiah, a program that ran parallel to the Manhattan project, dedicated to studying technology left by the 'Grays', a long extinct race of aliens, and using the technology to create weapons.

-During the testing of one of the devices, a accident occurred, and Toybox was hooked into one of the Grays devices, which downloaded 44% of the ship that the device was located on's library directly into his brain. For a short time after that, Toybox was declared 'insane'. He described images of creatures that, by sciences at the time current reckoning, should not be able to exist at all. It was only upon the bureau recruiting him that it was learned that part of the information downloaded was a bestiary.

-Spring of 54', Toybox recovers enough to be let out of the asylum he had been stored in. Returning to work for the government, he worked on rockets for roughly nine years, until the Tunguska event.

-1963, The bureau is formed, and Toybox is recruited to head R&D.

-1964, January 3, He requests that the moon be destroyed. The reason behind his request follows[Please note this is a direct quote]: "THE MOON IS CLEARLY A GREAT MONSTER, WAITING TO BE WOKEN UP! WE MUST DESTROY IT BEFORE THIS HAPPENS! I suggest sustained nuclear fire, followed up by drones equipped with mining excavation tools and nuclear charges. We'll burrow in, drop a bomb, BOOM, no more giant evil outer god thing alien over our heads! What? We don't have Drones? UNACCEPTABLE. TO THE LAB! Looks like jetpacks will have to wait another day!"

-1964, March 5, he goes undercover at a local school as a teacher, in order to root out a terrorist operation that has ties to the deep ones. 54 students were SEVERELY traumatized by his VIVID description of several exotic diseases. The other heads have ruled that him going undercover as a substitute teacher may only be performed in case of a class 9 threat, AKA total annihilation of existence.

- No other severe incidences that stand out very much, besides a few mishaps involving his gadgets.

◦Equipment: Varies. As head of R&D, on missions, Toybox usually carries whatever gadget he is testing to become standard load out, plus whatever he deems necessary based on currently known parameters.

◦Skills: Genius level intellect, high understanding of anatomy, physics, math, and skilled marksman with a pistol. Noted to be resistant to insanity caused via nonhuman entity exposure. The reason, as well as the strength, of the resistance, is unknown.
