From The Depths describes itself as ...

...the first physics-driven multiplayer warfare game where you design and build your own vehicles block by block.

It takes after Minecraft, which seems to pretty evident immediately. Watch some of the videos if you need to see some of the in-game footage, because it's awesome.

Beware of Sea Monsters.

At the time of this post, From The Depths is in the Alpha stage. Oh, and I almost forgot: Currently, the game is only ten dollars. STEEEAAAAL.

Wow this didn't much attention here which is a pity as it is really a fun game.

The game has reached a point where it has a campaign mode, singular missions, or a sandbox. You can build aircraft of all sorts including air ships, helicopters, and airplanes. The sea vessels can be anything from a little dingy to an aircraft carrier and even a missile submarine.

The game has two sets of weapons some simple premade weapons that are cheap to slap on or the surprisingly flexible custom weapon systems. Players can build cannons of a few different varieties, missiles, torpedoes, mines, depth charges, dumb fire rockets, and laser weapons. through in game customization a wide variety of weapon types ca be crafted.

The game uses physics engine which measures things like drag and thrust and other forces to determine weapons capabilities and vehicle performance. Ships can be holed below the water and basically wind up slowly sinking. Air craft plunge out of the sky if you smash their propulsion systems to bits, hitting ammo and fuel stores produces a spectacular explosion that often does a lot of damage. Knocking out an enemy ships ai unit is pretty much a death sentence for the enemy your own character which can be armed can get blasted as well ending your role in a fight. If the character is bold or doesn't want to waste the resources they can use the armed character to jump onto enemy ships and do a lot of damage with their personal weapons.

Just about every item you can put on your ship has a fair bit of customization built in from the engine to sensors, to even moderately capable AI system that can do everything from control vessels you make to fire and aim your weapons.

There is resource management and collection in the campaign and challenge missions which can make building and arming your ship a challenge.

For an example of how flexible this game is I went from a standard one gun turret dingy patrol boat to a littloral trimaran armed with a laser guided dual missile launcher and four shot guided rocket boosted torpedo launcher running both surface and sub-surface weapons.

Launch trailer Pretty simple general demo of the things you can do with the game.

A good example gameplay when you first start out

Oh, there's a thread for this. I haven't played this game in a while because I'm waiting for the cannon update, but here's some pictures of the only craft that I actually put some effort into.

Back from the depths, thread. I see. tongue

Totally missed your post.

The cannon update has hit and it is pretty slick. All sorts of new parts and components. Add in there is a current update on how localized resources are being handled. I am not overly fond of the way this is looking especially with the changes to the engines coming up.

Now it is a lot easier to build a compact gun because of how the ammo system now works. The customizable shells are very cool.

The proximity fused shells though are a bit wonky because they use hit scan to minimize hits to performance for collision detection

HE became even more evil thanks to new warhead types like HESH and HEAT. Add in new fusing options like altitude, timed, and inertial fuses and you get some interesting weapons.

The old custom cannons are still in and according to nick will be around for a while. They may eventually get removed or nerfed as a middling option.

I have been running a thread on the main forum called "The White Cap Testing Range" have been running all sorts of experiments with weapons and equipment with some input from the community. Just finished up the test runs of the old Custom Cannons.
