I think your overacting a little bit
I'm sorry - but the lack of premiere times for CN's primetime programs will be severely shortened by this dick move. This can and will end in disaster.
The only times that can be competed on are 8 - 10 PM. Those are the only times you can truly reach viewers with new material. IF CN thinks they can only reach viewers at times like 5 - 7 PM, then this is just more proof their leadership has truly and utterly failed and we've been letting them get away with it for too long.
I can't be the only person who sees this as the point where any and all of CN's actually good stuff gets the axe for more reruns of shows that should've ended a long time ago (or did and aren't all that popular in a positive light to begin with, due to almost everyone's negative stance on "adult" cartoons)...
I'm sorry, but I cannot see this working out at all.

Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.This likely wont last long. If anything, parental complaints will cause CN to bring back the 8PM hour, not to mention that in some areas, this would cause AS to start at 7pm which is just too early.
but... but Steven Universe airs at 8!
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Regular Show, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and Uncle Grandpa are all hits, and yet people still complain that "CN will be dead soon". I don't get it.
That's an odd move indeed, since "Gift Time" seemed like something of a test-run in the other direction, to see if they couldn't get good viewership for CN shows in the 9-10 slot.
Although Adventure Time and Regular Show migrated pretty successfully to the 7-8 slot, so now they could spread out their new content across more days by having less primetime per day, and get some more lineup diversity going on the Adult Swim side (or just plug in another hour of Family Guy...)

Probably not going to add more Family Guy. Last time AS's start time was brought forward they put King of the Hill in the start, which is less of an issue than Family Guy.
Also Nick at Night starts way early (8 or 9) compared to how it used to, yet Nickelodeon is still going with Spongebob and all that.
Back in the 90's, Nick@Nite regularly started at 8PM so it really isn't anything new.
Since the Futurama staff is network shopping to bring the show back, I'm hoping Adult Swim can pick up the rights to the series again.

@ Twentington
The last thing I want to see is all of CN's primetime fare (especially the newer stuff coming out) get shafterd (especially the newer stuff, before it has a chance to fully take off!). THIS is why I don't see this working out at all.
If anything, Boomerang should just become the new CN, and the current CN should become [Adult Swim] - only if this happens, not only is better leadership needed, but at the same time, CN needs to keep their variety up and place higher standards on their original programming, as well as invest in some good action shows.
Meanwhile, [Adult Swim] should do the same, while investing in more resources for getting some good anime back on the air at any other time than late at night on Saturday.
But those are just ways to improve a bad situation, if not end this bad situation in development...
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.The people at 4chan seem to be taking this well.
"YOU FILTHY SWINE!!! I WILL KEEEEL YOU!!!Cartoon Network and Adult Swim are posting their highest ratings in a while. I know the sting of CN Real can still burn, but making a change in leadership when they're trending up makes no logical sense.
Advertisers are literally throwing money at the network ATM so it makes complete sense to expand Adult Swim.
So.....Toonami will run for an extended 2 1/2 hours? Sweetness!
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. Also, I get that people long for the old days were Anime aired all the time on the network, but lincensing those shows are expensive. It's more profitable for the network to create their own original shows.
Or fund defunct/ unpopular series. Big O was not popular in Japan but Americans love Giant Robots and Steve Blum.

I don't even like anime that much - but it is something I would do to please the viewers if I were in charge - it's about variety and keeping a promise on promoting it as much as possible, besides original domestic programming being a top priority.
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.What promise?
It should also be noted that on Mountain time, the prime-time shows will be airing from 4PM - 6PM and kids get out of school at 3PM probably get home between that and 4PM, then they have to do homework, so they'll miss Adventure Time and probably Regular Show too, so that's one part of the country CN will not be getting their ratings from.
It's similarly just as bad for central viewers...
Promise or not —- Whether I was in charge or not, that's something that needs to happen. There are a lot of anime out there that could use decent screen time, instead of all these useless sitcoms that are becoming unpopular, anyway (at least from all the stupid complaints about them...).

Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.You're ignoring the fact that anime cost money to license. Financially speaking, there's no reason to air anime every single night when it only appeals to a niche audience.
Mountain and Pacific get a different feed than Eastern and Central. Worse is Pacific and Central will see stuff at 6 instead of 7, which is no issue.
No, there isn't... But it's worth thinking about. Especially for any network willing to put their money out their for it at all.
Then again, this is just me sick of seeing the same old things as everyone else on AS on weeknights, too - so now I'm talking crazy, right?

Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Pacific has a different feed from Mountain too. 7PM shows are 7PM shows here.
I hope this wont lead to bad things.
People thought Cartoon Network was dead/dying/a flagellated corpse back when CN Real was a thing. It's still around and better than it's ever been. I don't think giving another hour to one of the channel's most popular blocks is going to kill it.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.
This is going to spell the end of CN - I just know it...
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/04/business/media/adult-swim-no-1-with-younger-adults-is-expanding.html
This is proof that CN no longer has any faith in itself as a network. Seriously, Adult Swim is dangerously close to taking up half the day. You'd think the temporary shrink to 10PM would be a wake-up call...
Personally, I expect all of CN's actually good shows to be cancelled over nothing because of this. As for any "original programming" AS is getting - FORGET THAT - they are too few and far between - don't get me started on the lack of anime to balance out the problems here people have with [Adult Swim] to begin with, in terms of lacking variety and anything else a channel really needs to be successful...
I make no jokes about this at all: CN is going to be dead by the end of this decade - I don't see their "original programming" and lack of anime to balance things out changing my opinion on this (mostly because their good shows will be cancelled over this before they even get the chance to entertain us) - and this was BEFORE this happened. All to please advertisers who don't know how to do anything right that the audience wants, AKA - normal people like you and me.
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.
